Popular Japanese actress Nagano Mei has recently been embroiled in controversy. In recent reports by Allkpop, it was revealed that the actress was allegedly involved with two of her co-stars, Kim Moo Jun from 'Caster' and Japanese actor Tanaka Kei, who is married and has children as well. The initial report came from the magazine Shukan Bunshun, after which 'questionable' texts from Nagano Mei and Tanaka Kei surfaced online as well that sparked the controversy and started online debates as well. Due to this new revelation, the actress has been losing out on major projects one by one. Nagano Mei loses projects spanned over three years Mei, who was one of the considerably popular actresses in the Japanese entertainment industry, had a packed schedule for the next three years. After the rise of the controversy online, however, she has managed to lose out on all of her projects, ranging from films and dramas to ads and brand collaborations as well. She also withdrew from her latest project, 'Toyotomi Brothers!' amid the allegations. Her company issued a statement regarding her exit. They stated that 'In view of the great trouble and concern caused to the relevant units by this series of reports, [Mei Nagano] has decided to withdraw from the show. We deeply apologise to everyone who is looking forward to the broadcast, as well as the programme-related personnel and co-stars.' No official comments have been issued by any of the three parties involved in the controversy.

Popular Japanese actor Nagano Mei, once called the 'new generation's first love', has reportedly decided to drop out of her upcoming NHK Taiga drama, Toyotomi Brothers, in light of recent controversies. Her agency, Stardust Promotion, issued a statement confirming the same. The backlash against Mei has intensified since a report published by the magazine, Shukan Bunshun, accused the actor of having an affair with actor Kei Tanaka, who is married. There were also rumours that she was in a relationship with Kim Moo Joon. But, the controversy allegedly impacted the viewership of her Netflix show Caster, also titled News Anchor. Kim Moo Joon and Kei Tanka have both said that they don't have a romantic relationship with Nagano Mei. The agency apologised to the fans anticipating the show, which is now considering casting a new face after the lead star's exit. 'We deeply apologise to everyone who is looking forward to the broadcast, as well as the program-related personnel and co-stars.' The drama was scheduled to air in January 2026. Mei became a household name for shows like House of Ninjas on Netflix and the movie Daytime Shooting Star. In the J-drama, Toyotomi Brothers, Mei was roped in to play the character of Nao, the childhood friend-turned-first love of Hidechou, Toyotomi Hideyoshi's brother. The historical series focuses on Hidechou's lesser-known role in unifying Japan. The filming was yet to begin. The magazine also claimed Nagano was seeing another actor at the same time, her co-star from the drama Caster. So far, all three stars involved have denied these claims. However, the controversy took a hit on Mei's soaring career as multiple brands dropped her and reportedly around nine advertisers stopped using her ads. On April 28, Mei broke her silence on a late-night radio program, addressing the controversy and apologising to fans for the 'misunderstanding'. 'Regarding the recent controversy, I understand many of my supporters must be concerned. I am truly sorry. However, this is all a misunderstanding. I've deeply reflected on how my carelessness has caused distress to many. From now on, I'll be more cautious in how I interact with male colleagues,' she said. However, instead of putting an end to rumours, the statement fueled more backlash for lacking context. Korean star Kim Moo Joon, for his part, cleared that his visit to Nagano's home was with family and friends, nothing romantic. Meanwhile, Tanaka has maintained that his relationship with the actor is strictly platonic. Despite the controversy and the first official casting fallout, there are no plans for an acting hiatus for Mei as of now.

TOKYO (TR) – The commercial fallout from the reported two-timing of actress Mei Nagao with actors Kei Tanaka and Kim Mu-jun is continuing. Sankei Sports learned on Tuesday that photos and videos of Tanaka have been removed from the official websites for Suntory Holdings Limited, MOS Food Services, Inc. and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. Tanaka, 40, had been appearing in commercials for Suntory's Kakubin whiskey and Kaku Highball products. In an interview with Sankei Sports , Suntory commented, 'In light of the current situation, we have decided that it is difficult to convey the true value of the brand.' The photos and videos were removed on Tuesday afternoon. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries also removed such content on the same day. 'We made a comprehensive judgment after considering various impacts,' a representative of the company said. Affair Last month, a reporter for weekly tabloid Shukan Bunshun found Nagano, 25, inviting an apparently drunk Tanaka, who is married, into her apartment in Minato Ward late at night on April 19. Nagano and Tanaka met when they co-starred in the film 'And the Baton Was Passed' in 2021. Further, she spent the night with Kim, her 26-year-old co-star in the TBS drama 'Caster,' the day before, the magazine reported. No press Meanwhile, Sankei Sports has learned that an opening-day stage event to be held on May 16 for the Nagano-starring movie 'Kakkaku Shikajika' will be held without press in attendance. A source explanis, 'If the media were invited in now, it would be dominated by Nagano's scandal, so they are shutting out the press.' Normally, a stage event is held after a movie is released to mark the film's success. 'But even if it is held, it will be difficult to allow the press into the venue in the same way,' the same source says.

In May of next year, the group will officially disband. He was then attacked from behind and reportedly slashed several times as he boarded the train. He allegedly remained silent during interrogation. During the incident, he was apprehended by a police officer and a Nepalese man, who injured his finger. TOKYO (TR) – This week, tabloid Shukan Bunshun reported that popular actress Mei Nagano is not only dating Korean actor Kim Mu-jun but also involved in an affair with former co-star Kei Tanaka. Nagano, 25, is currently one of Japan's most in-demand talents for commercial endorsements due to her perceived clean image. But evening tabloid Nikkan Gendai suggests that her revealed carnivorous ways will impede such prospects in the future. In revealing her relationship with Tanaka, who is 15 years her senior and married with two children, a reporter for Bunshun found Nagano inviting an apparently drunk Tanaka into her apartment in Minato Ward late at night on April 19. The pair met when they co-starred in the film 'And the Baton Was Passed' in 2021. Their roles were of father and daughter. 'Some people commented that they were like a real father and daughter, though they were not related by blood,' a film reporter tells Gendai . 'The depiction of a family bond that goes beyond blood ties brought tears to many audience members. Although it was known that they got along well [during the filming], she was caught crossing the line by becoming involved with the 'father.' So the difference is huge. Fans of the movie are expressing their dismay via comments on the internet.' In fact, this was not the first time that she had invited Tanaka to her home. By October of last year, they had already become so close that she had given him a spare key. That's not all. Nagano plays the heroine in the TBS drama series 'Caster' alongside 26-year-old Kim. Apparently, she spent the night with the Korean actor the day before inviting Tanaka to her home. 'If she was playing around with an older actor and cheating on [Kim], that's going to damage her clean image,' an ad agency source says. 'If this is her true nature, her sponsors will be shocked.' Mei Nagano (X) 'We are checking the facts' The big problem will be the huge compensation that might need to be paid as a result. Nagano has 11 commercial contracts. And they are all with big, well-known companies, like Suntory Holdings Limited, NTT Docomo, Inc., JCB Co., Ltd. and Kao Corporation. 'We are checking the facts,' a representative of Kao, which sponsors 'Caster,' told Gendai regarding the reports. 'At this point, no official announcement has been made by any company, but Nagano may be charged more than 100 million yen in penalty fees for each commercial,' the aforementioned ad agency source assures. 'Based on similar cases in the past, such as those involving Masahiro Higashide and Becky, the penalty fee for each commercial is often two to three times the contract fee.' When contacted, Stardust Promotion, which represents Nagano, denied the allegations. 'Tanaka and Kim Mu-jun are senior performers and colleagues. There is no truth to the fact that they are dating,' the agency said. 'However, we have sternly told Nagano to be aware that her actions have led to misunderstandings. We also deeply apologize for the great concern and inconvenience caused by this report to all those involved, the clients and staff involved in advertising and productions, and the fans who support her.'
