Paul Smith introduces Art of Travel for summer campaign

Fashion Network14-07-2025
has launched a summer campaign entitled 'Art of Travel', with British actor Daniel Ings signed to 'bring the campaign to life'.
A friend of the fashion house and its signature founder, Ings' 'humorous nature and witty demeanour are the traits that align with the British design house and bring the campaign to life in quintessentially British way'.
He takes the viewer on an emotional journey as he embarks on the relatable travel rituals. Taking cues from an off-screen voice, 'he comically expresses this range of emotions in each of our three scenarios' - packing at home, on the way to the airport [Heathrow Terminal 5], and eventually making it to the departures.
Alongside Ings, the campaign features a range of Paul Smith hero pieces – British Tailoring such as our checked work-wear jacket, A Suit to Travel In and pieces from our Made in England knitwear collection mixed with the well known Signature Stripe offer.
The brand noted that 'travel remains a key message for Paul Smith… Ever since launching the Suit to Travel In, it has remained a priority to continuously develop and perfect the offering'.
That means it's now available in a range of colours and styles.
The campaign was shot by Jonathan Daniel Pryce, video by Andy Donohoe & Thomas Wootton, stylist was Ben Schofield with grooming – by Nick Barford.
Meanwhile, July also marks the launch of the first Paul Smith luggage collection. Created in collaboration with South-Korean company RawRow, their signature aluminium trunks have been given a Paul Smith twist.

Which UK phone companies offer free roaming in France?

EU agreements mean that phone companies are banned from charging extra 'roaming' fees for data use in any country within the European Bloc. Since Brexit, that no longer applies to the UK and in the aftermath of the UK's exit from the EU, many telecommunications companies in the UK have begun charging additional 'roaming' fees. In some cases, companies started charging extra fees directly after Brexit, but others have taken a slower approach by gradually introducing them. Meanwhile, there are still a few British phone plans that do not charge extra for 'roaming'. Here is the latest list (as of July 2025) of the British phone companies that offer free roaming, as well as those who do not, plus what they offer instead. This list is correct at the time of publication, but providers can change their deals. READ MORE: Roaming: Where can I use my French mobile without landing a huge bill? Free roaming in France O2 - As part of their standard monthly SIM plans - Classic, Plus and Ultimate, ranging from £16 to £34 - O2 includes free roaming. Advertisement O2 customers can make calls and send texts within the Europe Zone (which includes France) to any other country in the Europe Zone (including the UK). Users can also benefit from their monthly data allowance, but there is a roaming limit of 25 GB. Once you near the roaming limit, you will receive a text message warning that if you keep using data, you will be charged extra. BT 'Roam like Home' - Despite the fact that BT and EE are merging, the company still allows customers to opt for BT mobile plans, such as the 50GB SIM , which starts at £13 a month. As for roaming, this means that customers can benefit from 'Roam like Home' free roaming in France and the EU. The plan includes 50 GB of data usage (as part of their fair use policy allowance). You can make calls and send texts within France at no extra charge, but you cannot call abroad from the UK without paying a fee. You ought to receive a notification if you are at 80 percent of your usage allowance. The company does warn that 'Roam like Home' is only available for people "usually based in the UK". They may add a surcharge if they see you have been using the plan for over four months in France. Smarty - Smarty's SIM-only plans include roaming within the EU, with unlimited calls and texts. Users have a 'fair use' limit of 12GB per month for a maximum of 60 days. To go above that, you have to buy a data add-on. Giffgaff - This phone company allows people to use their usual capacity of calls and texts in the EU "at no extra cost". As for data, the cut off is 5GB, and if you go over, you will have to pay 10p/MB. There are other travel add-on plans available, too. Additional roaming fees Vodafone - As things stand, Vodafone has several different plans, and some of them include roaming (up to 25 GB fair use limit) in France (which falls into their 'B' list). Specifically, you can opt for the 5GB Xtra Euro Roam (£25 monthly). Otherwise, you can purchase a plan that does not include roaming and pay an extra daily charge of £2.57 a day or purchase a 'European Roaming Pass" (either 8 or 15 days). Advertisement EE Mobile - EE Mobile has been changing its approach to roaming, with some of the contracts it offered before July 2021 no longer available. The company still has several plans that do include EU roaming (the Max Plan, Full Works, Essentials Plus, and All rounder). For customers whose plans do not include roaming, they can purchase temporary passes, with fees of £2.59 per day, £15 per week, and £21.50 per 12 days. Calls, texts and data would be available at your normal UK allowance. You can decide which pass to purchase upon arrival, as you will receive a link giving you the options. Tesco Mobile - Customers who joined Tesco Mobile before June 16th, 2022 will continue to be able to use their UK data allowance in France. However, those who have changed contracts or joined after June 2022 will "be subject to roaming charges from 2026", the company warned on their website. Customers are expected to receive 30 days' notice before changes are implemented. For the time being, people on monthly SIM plans with Tesco Mobile will still be able to have roaming in France included in their standard bill. Advertisement Three - Similar to EE Mobile and Vodafone, Three offers some plans (like Value and Complete) which include roaming in France/ the EU. Otherwise, customers can pay a daily charge of £2 for the 'Go Roam in Europe' pass. Data is capped at 12GB. Sky - This phone service does not include free roaming automatically. You can opt for the 'Roaming Passport Plus' which allows users to access their UK data, calling and texting allowance for £2 a day. British tourists and second-home owners will likely keep their UK phone contract, but if you're moving to France then sooner or later you will probably want to switch to a French provider. Ozzy Osbourne's funeral cortege to make final trip through Birmingham

The final farewell for the Prince of Darkness takes place today, as Ozzy Osbourne's funeral cortege will make its way through the British rocker's hometown of Birmingham. Thousands of fans will get a chance to pay their respects to the Black Sabbath singer and heavy metal pioneer as the procession travels along the city centre's Broad Street from 2pm CET today. The hearse will then make its way to the Black Sabbath Bridge and bench, where thousands have already come together to leave flowers in tribute to the artist. 'We're going to pay our last respects and homage to one of the greatest living legends of Birmingham,' said Lord Mayor of Birmingham Zafar Iqbal. 'He put Birmingham on the map. He put Aston on the map.' Iqbal added that it was important to the city to give the star "a fitting, dignified tribute ahead of a private family funeral". There has also been a book of condolences open at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, alongside the Ozzy Osbourne Working Class Hero exhibition. Fans (including Iqbal) have been queuing extensively for the chance to write in the book. Speaking about today's tribute with the BBC, Iqbal said about the fans that the 'love they showed Ozzy and his family was immense', and that he was grateful to the Osbourne family for funding all of the associated costs and enabling the event to go ahead. The city council said for those not able to make the event, the live stream of the Black Sabbath bench will continue to be viewed online. Ozzy died at the age of 76 on 22 July, shortly after he took to the stage for the Back To The Beginning farewell gig in Birmingham on 5 July. Osbourne and his Black Sabbath bandmates Terence "Geezer" Butler, Tony Iommi and Bill Ward were awarded the Freedom of the City in June, before the Back To The Beginning show, honouring their "significance to the cultural and musical identity of Birmingham". Ozzy's cause of death has not yet been revealed, but the rocker was dealing with numerous health issues, including Parkinson's Disease. His "final bow" gig with his Sabbath bandmates at Villa Park raised about £140m (€160m) for charity. A film documenting the gig is currently in production and is set to hit theatres next year.

BFC teases City Wide Celebration details with big names and four-city focus

This will include the launch of ' At Home With'. Presented by London Fashion Week (LFW) principal partner 1664 Blanc, it will feature a nationwide series of talks and panel discussions 'spotlighting the cultural and geographic roots of some of Britain's most celebrated designers'. These will (so far) include Barbour, Kazna Asker, Matty Bovan, Nadine Merabi, Patrick McDowell, SS Daley, Talia Byre and The Winter House, as At Home With 'celebrates the impact of British fashion beyond London, championing regional talent and engaging local communities'. Through the series, 1664 Blanc said it 'continues its commitment to championing emerging designers and making LFW more accessible to a broader audience, both in the capital and nationwide'. Meanwhile, the series 'supports a new strategic direction' set out by BFC CEO Laura Weir ' to decentralise British fashion from London and spotlight creative excellence across the UK'. The programme also aims to complement the recent announcement of the BFC Fashion Assembly, a pilot initiative conceived by Sarah Mower, BFC Ambassador for Emerging Talent, which received strong industry support. The Fashion Assembly is a creative education programme that will be rolled out in schools nationwide from 2026. Together, CWC and the Fashion Assembly 'represent a bold, joined-up approach to redefining the national narrative of British fashion, rooted in place, purpose, and potential'. The CWC programme kicks off in Liverpool (6 September, 15:00-17:00) featuring SS Daley, Patrick McDowell and Talia Byre (moderator) taking place at the Gordon Ramsay Bread Street Kitchen & Bar, Liverpool One. It then moves on to Manchester (13 September, 13:00-15:00) featuring Nadine Merabi, The Winter House, Matty Bovan and Kazna Asker, moderated by Emma Davidson, Dazed's fashion director of Editorial and Partnerships, at the Orient Stage, Trafford Centre. London (21 September, 12:30-13.30) still has details to be confirmed but so far we know Aaron Esh and Labrum will appear, moderated by Hetty Mahlich at 180 The Strand. Finally, Newcastle (30 September 18:30-20:00) will feature Barbour, moderated by Paul Toner, deputy editor of 10 and 10 Men, at Fenwick Newcastle, Eldon Square. The organisers said the full CWC schedule will be announced later this summer.
