‘Serious and unpardonable act, never happened in history': Servitor urges action as Lord Jagannath's medicines ‘stolen' from Odisha's Puri shrine; SJTA begins probe
BHUBANESWAR: A senior servitor of the Puri Jagannath Temple, Haladhara Dasmohapatra on Monday has filed a complaint with the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), alleging that herbal medicines intended for Lord Jagannath were stolen from within the temple premises.
According to the complaint, at least 70 Dasamula Modaka — a ball-shaped Ayurvedic herbal medicine — were found missing from a total of 313 stored in the Garada, a chamber within the temple complex. The missing medicines were discovered on Saturday.
'These medicines were prepared for the ceremonial treatment of the deities who became unwell after their sacred bath on Snana Purnima, observed on 11 June,' said Dasmohapatra.
Since the ritual bath, the divine siblings — Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra — have been recovering in Anasara Ghara, the temple's isolation chamber. They have remained out of public view since 12 June and are expected to reappear for darshan on 26 June, one day before the annual Rath Yatra.
The medicines had been prepared by Raja Vaidyas, the temple's traditional Ayurvedic practitioners. Dasmohapatra said he noticed the missing items when he went to the Garada to collect the Modakas for the deities' treatment.

'This is a serious and unpardonable act. This has never happened in the temple's history. The SJTA must conduct an investigation and punish those responsible. CCTV footage from the temple should be reviewed,' he added.
An SJTA official said they are aware of the matter and an internal inquiry is underway to verify the allegation.

France charges Briton over staged Disneyland 'marriage' with child
AI- Generated Image PARIS: France charged a British citizen with offences including money-laundering and identity theft after he allegedly organised a bizarre ceremony at Disneyland Paris where he played the role of the groom in a fake marriage with a nine-year-old girl, prosecutors said Tuesday. He is suspected of hiring the theme park before it opened to the public on Saturday for the staged wedding event, in a contract worth 130,000 euros. The man, who has not been named but has a criminal record in the UK for sexual assault offences, has in addition to his charges also been named as an assisted witness - a step before being indicted - in a probe into suspected corruption of a minor, prosecutors said. The incident initially caused grave alarm when staff alerted police that it could have concerned an illegal child marriage, with the purported "bride" a nine-year-old Ukrainian girl. It later turned out to have been entirely staged but authorities immediately launched an investigation. The British man played "the role of the groom after being professionally made up to display a face completely different from his own", the prosecutor for the Meaux region Jean-Baptiste Bladier told AFP. French judicial authorities were informed by their British counterparts that the man "has been convicted in the past, notably for sexual offences against minors", he added on Tuesday. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? 'Significant irregularities' The authorities have designated a 24-year-old Latvian who played the role of the bride's sister at the event as an assisted witness. The prosecutor said investigations showed the "marriage" was in fact "a fictitious ceremony intended to be filmed privately". The Briton is suspected of "recruiting, with the help of a Latvian citizen, other Latvian nationals to ensure the smooth running of the event, as well as around 100 French extras, who were falsely presented to Disneyland Paris as wedding guests", the prosecutor said. The Ukrainian child, who arrived in France two days before the event, suffered "no violence, either physical or sexual" and "was not forced to play the role" of bride, the prosecutor had said at the weekend. According to the prosecutor, Disneyland Paris was deceived, with "the organiser impersonating a Latvian national and using false documents to secure the contract to hire the park". The event was scheduled to take place between 5:00 am and 7:00 am local time, outside public opening hours, on the privatised premises "at a total cost of 130,000 euros", according to a police source who asked not to be named. But Disneyland Paris emphasised in a statement sent to AFP on Sunday that the event had been "immediately cancelled" by its teams "after the identification of significant irregularities."

'Cobra Kai' star Martin Kove accused of BITING and attempting to kiss co-star Alicia Hannah-Kim; Here's why he wasn't arrested
C obra Kai actor Martin Kove, best known for his role as the villain John Kreese, was accused of biting and attempting to kiss his co-star Alicia Hannah-Kim during a fan convention. The incident occurred during a meet-and-greet session at the pop culture convention in Puyallup. According to a police report obtained by Deadline, Hannah-Kim alleged that Kove unexpectedly grabbed her arm and bit it 'almost drawing blood' as she walked past his table. When she cried out in pain, he reportedly kissed her arm and attempted to grab it again. In a written statement to police, the actress described the bite as unprovoked and forceful, noting that the mark left behind was already 'turning blue and bruising.' Photos of the injury were taken and attached to the official police record. Her husband, actor Sebastian Roche, who witnessed the incident, confronted Kove soon after. In her statement, she recalled that Kove was 'furious and outraged' when she calmly told him his behaviour was unacceptable. Kove allegedly dismissed the act as playful, saying he thought it was funny and that they 'play fight all the time on set.' The Puyallup Police Department Officer Eric Barry, investigating the matter on-site wrote in his report, "Martin Kove admitted to biting Alicia's arm and said he did it out of jest." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Brass Krishna Idols For Prosperity & Protection In Life Luxeartisanship Shop Now Undo The actor, however, was not arrested as Hannah-Kim ultimately chose not to press charges.
