"Okay not being on biggest set in world..." Ridhi Dogra opens up about mental health, says she chooses work that makes her 'feel valued'
By Zoya Aziz
New Delhi [India], May 30 (ANI): Actor Ridhi Dogra, who made her Bollywood debut with 'Lakadbaggha' in 2023 and was later seen in big films including Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, recently opened up about how she takes care of her mental health while working in the entertainment industry.
Ridhi has been part of the industry for many years now, starting with her Television debut in Jhoome Jiya Re. But even with all the success, the journey hasn't been easy. There was a time early on in her career when she felt like she wasn't 'feeling happy.' However, she made some clear decisions that continue to help her stay grounded and happy to this day.
When asked if she ever felt the need to pause and take a break from the pressure, Dogra told ANI, 'I love what I do, so I think when you love what you do, you don't really need to take a break from it. But yeah, very early on, I decided I only want to do work that I love, and I only want to go on sets where I am valued. So, I created that environment for myself, where I'm okay not being on the biggest set in the world. I want to be on a set where people want me there--that's what's important in my life.'
'In my circumstances... I think only once in my life--I'm not going to talk about the project--but only once, early in my career, I felt like what you're saying, that I wasn't feeling happy, or whatever, whatever. And I quickly changed that. I said, 'You know what? I'm not going to do anything that doesn't feel right to me. I'll only work with people who believe in what I'm doing, who are excited about what I'm doing, or what we're making, and that's it.' That really has helped me till now...'
The Asur actress went on to speak about the emotional demands of being an actor and why it's important to take breaks--not just to rest, but to emotionally recharge.
'You do need a break sometimes. As actors, we need a lot of breaks, not because our work is hectic, but because we're always wearing the sensitivity cap. You can never drop it. We are using our emotions to portray different feelings, and that's a big gamble we play. We are constantly trying to show various emotions, and that means we are carrying those emotions at all times. For somebody like that, whether it's a musician who sings and connects to God, we do need downtime. So, after every project of mine, I do take a holistic wellness break,' Ridhi shared.
The interaction took place at the Delhi launch of Lakadbaggha: The Prologue, a graphic novel written by Anshuman Jha and illustrated by American comic book artist Brittain Peck.
The novel serves as a prequel to the 2023 action film Lakadbaggha and was launched by the film's team, including Ridhi and Anshuman. (ANI)

Shiva Rajkumar denies clapping for Kamal Haasan's Kannada remark as Thug Life release in Karnataka remains uncertain
Ever since actor Kamal Haasan remarked that Kannada was born out of Tamil while promoting his upcoming film Thug Life in Karnataka, he has caused a huge uproar in the state. Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar, who also attended the promotional event, denies clapping when Kamal made this statement, even as a pro-Kannada outfit threatens theatres not to release Thug Life in the state. (Also Read: 'All Kamal Haasan films to be banned in Karnataka', says minister after actor refuses to apologise on Kannada remark row) Talking to the press, Shiva, who previously defended Kamal, made it clear that he does not agree with Kamal's statement about Kannada. He said, 'All the languages are important to us. But when it comes to the mother tongue, Kannada is the first priority, there's no doubt about that. I've said this before, I can give my life for Kannada. I should not tell that (Kamal Haasan must apologise). He is a senior actor, and I am the biggest fan of him.' He then clarified that many seem to be under the misconception that he showed support for Kamal's remark at the event by clapping when he said it. Shiva agrees he did clap, but it was for a different statement. He said, 'At the event, I did not understand what was going on. But they're showing clippings as if I'm clapping for that. I was clapping because he told, he was my chithappa (uncle).' According to ANI, a pro-Kannada organisation, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, warned the owners of Victory Cinema Theatre in Kamakshipalya, Bengaluru, not to release Mani Ratnam's Thug Life. The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has also banned the film's release in Karnataka, asking the actor to apologise for his remarks. Praveen Shetty, who belongs to the organisation, told the news agency, 'Kamal Haasan has spoken against the Kannada language. We will not allow Kamal Haasan's film to be released in Karnataka. They said that the film will be released at the Victory Cinema. We came here today and told the theatre owners not to release Kamal Haasan's film. If the film is released, the government will be held responsible for any untoward incidents that follow.' Thug Life, which also stars Silambarasan TR and Trisha Krishnan in lead roles, is directed by Mani Ratnam. According to Sacnilk, Mani's previous film, Ponniyin Selvan—Part 1, earned ₹28.12 crore in Karnataka, while Part 2 made ₹22.55 crore in the state. After Tamil Nadu, Karnataka was the highest-earning state for both films. Kamal's Indian 2 made ₹8.55 crore there. The actor, however, has refused to apologise for his comment, telling the media, 'It is a democracy. I believe in law and justice. My love for Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala is true. Nobody will suspect it except for those who have an agenda. I've been threatened earlier too, and if I am wrong, I would apologise, if I'm not, I won't.'

'I had my time': Mark Hamill on his appearance in Star Wars franchise future films
Washington DC [US], June 1 (ANI): The actor Mark Hamill is unlikely to return to the Star Wars universe in the future. He played the iconic role of Luke Skywalker in 'Star Wars' films. In a recent interview with ComicBook as quoted by Variety, Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the first three franchise-spawning 'Star Wars' films, discussed his future in the immortal sci-fi universe. While he started his journey with 'A New Hope' in 1977 alongside Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, Hamill has no interest in continuing the saga. "I am so grateful to George [Lucas] for letting me be a part of that back in the day, the humble days when George called 'Star Wars' 'the most expensive low-budget movie ever made,'" he said. "We never expected it to become a permanent franchise and a part of pop culture like that. But my deal is, I had my time. I'm appreciative of that, but I think they should focus on the future and all the new characters," added Hamill as quoted by Variety. He continued, joking that he "disappeared in ['The Last Jedi'], I left my robes behind. And there's no way I'm gonna appear as a naked force ghost." Hamill's last major appearance as Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars" was as a force ghost in 2019's "Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker." He also made brief appearances as Luke with de-ageing and motion capture effects in "The Mandalorian" and "The Book of Boba Fett", reported Variety. "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" went on to become one of the most iconic films in history after its 1977 release, inspiring an endless march of spinoff series and follow-up films. As of today, there have been 12 total films, including the original trilogy, and countless TV shows set in the "Star Wars" universe. The upcoming instalments include 'The Mandalorian and Grogu,' starring Pedro Pascal as the masked drifter with baby Yoda, and 'Star Wars: Starfighter,' starring Ryan Gosling, reported Variety. Aamir Khan calls marriage to Reena Dutta jawani ka josh: Timing was a mistake
Actor Aamir Khan recently reflected on his marriage with ex-wife Reena Dutta. During his appearance on a podcast, the 60-year-old clarified that he doesn't regret the marriage, but the timing of it. Khan, who's now dating Gauri Spratt, said he learnt a lot after his 16-year marriage to Reena ended."Galtiyan maine bahot ki hai. Ek nahi. Reena aur maine bahot jaldi shaadi ki thi. Main 21 saal ka tha, vo 19 saal ki thi (Not one, I have made a lot of mistakes. I got married to Reena pretty early. I was only 21, she was only 19). In fact, we got married the first day I could marry her legally - April 18," he answered podcaster Raj Shamani when asked what is one thing that he regrets doing in his added that he married Dutta in a hurry and, in hindsight, that timing could have been avoided. "We only knew each other for just four months. We hadn't even spent a lot of time together. We loved each other a lot. However, now when I look back, I realise we should have thought about it. Us waqt jawaani ke josh me aap bahot sari cheezein nahi samajhte ho (We don't realise a lot of things because we are young and careless)," he said. However, the 'Sitaare Zameen Par' star maintained that he doesn't regret the time he spent with Dutta or their marriage. The actor shared that they practically grew up together and loved every bit of it."Meri Reena ke sath zindagi bahot achi kati hai. Iska aap ye matlab na nikaliye ki Reena galti thi. Ye mera matlab bilkul nahi hai (I have had a good life with Reena. Please don't misunderstand my statement. I am not saying that Reena was a mistake. The timing was). Reena is an amazing person. We've kind of grown up together. We respect each other, and have a lot of love for each other. But, I don't think anyone should take such a big step in life, at such a young age, in panic," he Bollywood superstar also mentioned how he and Dutta continue to respect each other, while they also share two kids - Ira Khan and Junaid Khan. "That's just one example. Honestly, I got my biggest gifts in life - Ira and Junaid - from my marriage, and I got to spend 16 years with Reena. You can call it a mistake, but how I see it is: I wouldn't have been here if I hadn't done that," he who announced his relationship with Spratt in March this year, concluded, "I wouldn't get married to someone in four months today. I never took therapy during those days. Now, I can see the red flags and do self-reflection."The actor went on to discuss what led to the end of his marriage to Reena Dutta. One of the reasons that he discussed on the podcast included the amount of attention he paid to work during those days. Khan shared, "I was lost in my films. That's the red flag. I was a workaholic."Khan is currently gearing up for the release of 'Sitaare Zameen Par', in which he plays the role of a teacher for specially-abled children preparing to play a basketball match. The film, directed by RS Prasanna, is slated to hit the screens on June Watch IN THIS STORY#Aamir Khan
