At $15,500, Is This 2007 Mini Cooper S A Mega-Bargain?

While not quite small enough to park on the sidewalk, today's Nice Price or No Dice Mini wears the factory trim package named for such pedestrian pathways. Let's see if that and a decently stout drivetrain can keep us from walking away from its asking price.
In the 1990 David Lynch (R.I.P.) film Wild at Heart, Nicholas Cage's character, Sailor, is anchored by his snakeskin jacket, which he repeatedly announces is 'a symbol of my individuality, and my belief... in personal freedom.' If Cage's character had chosen to express his distinctiveness through a vehicle instead of outerwear, he might have done so through a customized truck like the 1988 Ford Ranger GT we looked at yesterday. Tarted up with aftermarket bits on its grille, hood, and front fenders, that little pickup gained in individuality what it lost in more universal appeal. A $6,000 price tag proved equally divisive, handing the Ranger a 70 percent No Dice loss.
Hey, how about this for a spec sheet: 168 horsepower 1.6-liter supercharged four, six-speed manual transmission, 17-inch light alloy wheels, a leather interior, and a convertible roof, all in a car weighing in at less than 2,750 pounds. Pretty appealing stuff, right? Oh, did I mention that it's a Mini?
Today's 2007 Mini Cooper S Sidewalk edition—yes, that's really what they called it—is a bit of an anomaly, and not just because of the strangely-named trim package. It represents the first generation of New Mini, despite the hardtop edition having been replaced this model year for round two. The convertible would see one more tour of duty after this model year before being replaced by its own updated edition.
To make up for the wait, Mini offered the Sidewalk package to spruce things up. This $4,000 tarting could be applied to either the standard model or the supercharged Cooper S. Our car happens to be the hot rod S and comes with the desirable Getrag six-speed stick bolted to its supercharged Tritec four.
The Sidewalk-specific bits include special badging on the fenders and door sills, model-specific 17-inch alloy wheels, leather seating in Malt Brown with contrasting piping, and a two-tone leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Other than that, it looks to be a bog-standard Cooper S, with charm-bracelet dimensions, retro-mod styling, and an interior that's a riot of finicky details. Based on the pictures, everything looks to be in excellent condition. The champagne metallic paint appears to be without significant flaws, and the interior comes across as clean and without an excess of wear, even on its alloy and rubber pedals.
That's explainable in the car's modest 61,800 mileage and the extensive service history the seller shares. Another plus is the convertible top, which the seller wisely shows in the retracted position only. The Mini droptop is one of those cars that look OK with the top down and like it's wearing the world's most poorly-fitting toupee when it's up. According to the ad, this car has been fitted with an aftermarket remote top actuating mechanism, which, as the name implies, can open or close the top remotely.
Other than that, the car is presented as stock. The seller claims no mechanical issues and says the car has been used as a weekend warrior rather than as a daily. The reason given for the sale is the need for a larger back seat for growing kids. A clean title and current tags close out the car's checklist, meaning we must now consider its $15,500 asking price.
That's a lot of cash for a first-generation Mini, although this one does seem to have the goods and is a low-mileage, well-kept example, to boot. What do you think, though: is it worth $15,500 to call one's own? Or is that price a bit too big for this Mini's britches?
You decide!

Stranger Things' Star Shares Wild Theory About the Spinoff

Stranger Things' Star Shares Wild Theory About the Spinoff originally appeared on Parade. Even though Stranger Things is coming to an end with the series finale set to premiere on New Year's Eve, Finn Wolfhard still has some ideas regarding what the spinoff series will be about. 'Like David Lynch's Twin Peaks. Sort of an anthology and different tones but similar universe or same universe,' Wolfhard, 22, said in a new interview with Variety published on Tuesday, August 5. 'I think set in different places and all tied together through this mythology of the Upside Down. Don't even talk about Hawkins. Don't have any mention of our characters.' However, before fans get too excited, the Ghostbusters: Afterlife star clarified that no official announcements about a spinoff had been made just yet. '[Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer] were toying around with ideas in case Netflix wanted them. I'm sure they do, and I'm sure it will happen, but there's nothing official,' he explained. 'I think the coolest way, the way that I would do it, there has to be labs everywhere. If there was one in Hawkins, there's one in Russia. Where else could they be?' RELATED: In 2023, Wolfhard revealed that he had previously been a little too close for comfort in his guess about what the Duffers had planned for a spinoff. 'I was like, 'But if you guys are actually going to do a spin-off, it should be this.' And then I said it and the Duffers looked at each other and looked at me and they were like, 'Could we talk to you for a second?'' he said during an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. 'And then they pulled me off and they were like, 'That is the idea. Who told you?' and I was like, 'No one,' and they were like 'What do you mean? You just came up with it?' and I was like, 'Well, no, I just thought that that would be a cool way to expand.' It was really funny and they were like 'Okay, well… don't tell anyone.'' Granted, the Duffers could have easily changed their mind since then, but dedicated Stranger Things fans might want to brush up on their Twin Peaks lore just in case. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 Stranger Things' Star Shares Wild Theory About the Spinoff first appeared on Parade on Aug 6, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Aug 6, 2025, where it first appeared.

Locarno Says Farewell to David Lynch With Tribute Film ‘An Unfinished Room…'

The dream world of David Lynch was back on a big outdoor screen in Switzerland, at least for a few minutes, on Wednesday evening, namely in the form of a short film entitled An Unfinished Room… The Locarno Film Festival presented the emotional, heartfelt and surprise tribute and farewell to the cinema legend on the opening night of its 78th edition on Wednesday, courtesy of Lynch mentee Duwayne Dunham, who has worked as a director (Twin Peaks: The Return) and editor (Twin Peaks, Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart), and collaborators. Before the Locarno 2025 opening film unspooled, artistic director Giona A. Nazzaro set up the surprise homage without mentioning Lynch by name, saying the tribute was in memory of a creative who 'left an indelible mark' on cinema. 'He touched all our souls, he touched all our emotion,' Nazarro continued. 'His contribution to beauty, dreams, and art will never be forgotten. And tonight, we celebrate him with this tiny, wonderful masterpiece, An Unfinished Room…' More from The Hollywood Reporter Golshifteh Farahani Gets Locarno Honor From Zar Amir Ebrahimi, Calls Cinema a "Refuge" in a "Dark World" Gaumont Marks 130 Years With Academy Museum Retrospective Neon Nabs Japanese Video Game Movie Adaptation 'Exit 8' With excitement on Locarno's Piazza Grande square palpable, the movie then started on the big screen. The film featured words spoken by Lynch, discussing such things as his painting and film work and more, as well as scenes from such Lynch favorites as Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, and The Elephant Man, along with What Did Jack Do? It also included footage of Lynch painting and making music. The film was edited by Dunham, with its creative producers' credits listing Dunham, S.E. Feinberg, and David Negron. When the Twin Peaks theme started playing near the end of the short film, and the words 'David Lynch 1946-2025' showed up on the dark screen, the Locarno festival audience burst into enthusiastic applause. Dunham is also in Locarno to world premiere his Legend of the Happy Worker, 'a fable for our time,' starring Josh Whitehouse, Thomas Haden Church, and Colm Meaney out of competition. The director and some of his actors and creative team were shown on the big Locarno outdoor screen on the Wednesday opening night as they were arriving and walking the red carpet. 2018 Ferrari 488 GTB For Sale With Just 10,000 Miles

The Ferrari 488 GTB came out in 2015 as the replacement for the similarly styled 458. It was the first Ferrari to use a mid-mounted turbocharged V8 since the F40, and spawned numerous variants and one-offs during its five-year production span. One such 488 is for sale on Exotic Car Trader, and you can check out the listing by clicking here. The Ferrari 488 GTB used a twin-turbo 3.9L V8 with an all-aluminum dry sump. In the regular GTB and Spider variants, it made 661 hp and 561 lb-ft of torque through a Getrag 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Ferrari claimed a 0-60 mph time of 3 seconds flat, with a blazing top speed of 205 mph. Bringing all of those horses to a stop takes some effort, but it's a task that's handily taken care of by the carbon-ceramic brakes derived from technology used in the LaFerrari. With massive 398 mm discs up front and 360 mm discs at the back, Ferrari claimed that the 488 has up to 9% reduced braking distance compared to the previous 458. Visually, the 488 draws inspiration from the 458, with the same sleek lines, wide haunches, and elongated headlamps that find their way up the front fender. The rear fenders give way to two massive air ducts on each side, with a central piece that gives them a look similar to a flying buttress. The rear end is equally as curvy, with rounded taillights at either end that share a space with the exits of the fender air ducts. Thinking about selling your car? This particular 2018 Ferrari 488 GTB boasts just over 10,000 miles on the odometer as well as the Carbon Fiber Racing Package, draping bits like the exterior air ducts, steering wheel, and parts of the dashboard in carbon fiber. That exterior is finished in the classic Ferrari shade of Rosso Corsa with 20" forged dark painted wheels. The cabin is finished in a contrasting Nero leather interior, evoking the classic racing look of red over black, while incorporating some exterior details inside, including Cavallino-stitched Daytona racing seats, red stitching throughout, and Rosso-colored seatbelts. Any fears of damaging that exotic red paint will also be alleviated by the inclusion of paint protection film (PPF) over the entire body. The Ferrari 488 is about as Ferrari as you can get without shelling out a lifetime's fortune for an F40 or F50. It is undeniably one of the most recognizable models in the Prancing Horse's stables, much like the 458 that preceded it. I'd say something like "the $239,000 asking price isn't cheap," but this is one of Ferrari's flagship models, so of course it won't be. Given that this particular example has some tasteful options that perfectly complement the car and shows such low miles on the odometer, it's one of the best ones available on the market right now. It's certainly not for everyone, but those fortunate enough to sit behind its wheel know that they're in the presence of Italian royalty. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
