The world is converging on San Francisco this weekend.
Why it matters: Traffic will suck.
Driving the news: City officials expect over 200,000 people to attend the NBA All-Star Game and its slate of events, and another 200,000 people in Chinatown for the Chinese New Year Parade.
Plus, locals will be out and about for Valentine's Day weekend.
State of play: The city is temporarily closing some streets in the downtown area for the festivities.
Several blocks around the Chase Center and Moscone Center will be cordoned off for NBA programming, including multiple parts of Warriors Way. Pier 48 will also be impacted.
Meanwhile, segments of Market Street and the Financial District will be shut down for Sunday's parade, which will begin at Market and Second and end between Pacific and Washington.
The two-day Chinese New Year Community Fair also means closures on Grant Avenue between California and Broadway streets as well as Stockton and Kearny through the weekend.
The intrigue: In an effort to reduce congestion and support attendees, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) is offering free bus, subway and streetcar rides on Saturday and Sunday.
Yes, but: Cable car riders will still have to pay fees.
What to watch: Some Muni bus lines will be rerouted downtown due to the parade.
Buses that usually run along Market Street will operate on Mission Street instead.
Lines that cross Market Street will reroute around event areas.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — A.J. Smith-Shawver underwent Tommy John surgery and Craig Kimbrel elected free agency Monday in the latest pitching moves for the slumping Atlanta Braves. Smith-Shawver had reconstructive surgery on the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, knocking the rookie right-hander out for at least the rest of this season. Keith Meister performed the procedure in Arlington, Texas. Kimbrel opted for free agency two days after the Braves had designated the nine-time All-Star reliever for assignment. The Braves had attempted to send Kimbrel outright to their Triple-A Gwinnett affiliate. The Braves announced Smith-Shawver's surgery and Kimbrel's decision before their Monday night game at Milwaukee as they attempted to snap a seven-game skid. Braves officials already had announced May 30 that Smith-Shawver had a torn UCL. He had left a 5-4 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies a day earlier and said he felt a 'pop.' Smith-Shawver, 22, had gone 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA in nine starts this season. He had struck out 42 batters in 44 1/3 innings. Kimbrel had been attempting to make a comeback with Atlanta, where he spent his first five major league seasons and earned four straight All-Star Game selections from 2011-14. His 186 saves with the Braves are the most in franchise history. The 37-year-old Kimbrel had gone a combined 1-1 with a 2.00 ERA in 18 combined appearances with Gwinnett and Double-A Columbus this year before getting called up to Atlanta last week. But he pitched just one game with Atlanta before getting designated for assignment. He worked one scoreless inning in the Braves' 5-4, 10-inning loss at San Francisco on Friday. The Colts have three new owners. The NFL franchise announced the official transition of ownership to the late Jim Irsay's three daughters on Monday. The triumvirate of Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt and Kalen Jackson will all have leadership roles for the team, which continued the Irsay family's 50-plus year ownership. Report: C.J. Gardner-Johnson will participate in Texans' mandatory minicamp
Texans defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson reported to the team facility Monday ahead of Tuesday's start of a two-day mandatory minicamp, Aaron Wilson of KPRC reports. Gardner-Johnson, who the Eagles traded to the Texans this offseason, skipped the team's voluntary offseason workouts to train on his own with his personal trainer. Advertisement 'I've really been like to myself," Gardner-Johnson told Wilson. "The week I was there, it was very, very closer than places I've been before. Because this is a brand-new organization, trying to be the first team to put a bull on the ring. I had to step back. I'm too much sometimes. I think coming off a Super Bowl, it's a little too much for guys who feel like they're at the top of their profession right now because of who they are. That's respectable. So, we had to step back and then start to humble up, because now I'm at the bottom of the mountain with a team that's never been to the top. So, I can't bring the top of the mountain to the bottom of the mountain. I can't do that. It's like an avalanche. I don't want to cause a cluster---.' Gardner-Johnson, 27, led the league in interceptions in 2022 with six and has 18 in his six-year career.
