5 key things from Gov. Hochul's interview with Axios
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) said Wednesday that lawmakers who claim not to have read parts of the GOP spending bill should use ChatGPT to ask: "Anything I should worry about in here?" The big picture: Hochul spoke about the economic, political and social consequences of AI — from training workforces to children's safety — while speaking with Axios' Ina Fried at the AI+ Summit in New York. Here are five key things Hochul said in her interview with Axios' Ina Fried. 1. Hochul took a dig at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) for saying she didn't know the GOP tax bill that passed the House last month included a provision that would ban states and municiplaities from regulating the tech for 10 years. Hochul referenced Greene, who sits on the House Oversight Committee, without naming her when mentioning she's set to testify on Capitol Hill next week with other Democratic governors about immigration policies. "They're claiming did not know that there was a 10 year ban on any ... AI" regulation, she said. "You voted for it. Just ask ChatGPT. ... just some humble advice for them." 2. She called out the GOP spending bill for that provision, calling it a "concerning" move by House Republicans. Hochul indicated it jeopardizes New York's ban on sexual exploitation of young girls on social media through the use of AI. 3. AI doesn't have to replace jobs, Hochul said. "AI can increase productivity dramatically," the governor said, adding that she's not looking to eliminate jobs. "I want ... people to have a better customer experience when they come into a DMV or other offices, so I see great potential here." 4."I'm New York state's first mom governor, and I look out for all the kids," she said regarding online safety. "So that's where I approach this from, is what we can do to protect our children, but not unnecessarily constrain what AI is all about and the potential?" 5. New York is challenging the White House including on saving offshore wind, congestion pricing and challenges to birthright citizenship.

OpenAI Tops 3 Million Paying Business Users, Expands Enterprise Features
OpenAI said Wednesday it now has more than 3 million paying business customers using its workplace offerings, up from 2 million in February. The figure includes ChatGPT Enterprise, Team, and Edu clients, according to the company. OpenAI's workplace-focused products have seen rapid adoption alongside rising usage of its consumer chatbot, with 400 million weekly active users reported earlier this year. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 4 Warning Signs with NVDA. The company also launched two new enterprise capabilities: connectors, which let users pull data from third-party platforms like Google Drive, Dropbox, SharePoint, Box, and OneDrive directly into ChatGPT; and record mode, which enables transcription of audio meetings and automatic document generation using its Canvas tool. OpenAI is projecting $12.7 billion in revenue this year, a person familiar with the company's financials told CNBC. That compares with prior expectations of $3.7 billion in revenue and a $5 billion annual loss disclosed by another source in September 2024. Brad Lightcap, OpenAI's chief operating officer, said regulated industries such as financial services and healthcare are among the most active adopters. Corporate users now include Lowe's (LOW, Financials), Morgan Stanley (MS, Financials), and Uber (UBER, Financials). Lightcap said OpenAI is signing up roughly nine new enterprise customers a week and expects that momentum to continue. He said companies are increasingly viewing tools like ChatGPT as core infrastructure for knowledge work. It's got to be able to do tasks for you, and to do that, it's got to really have knowledge of everything going on around you and your work, Lightcap told CNBC. Nvidia (NVDA) Tops Microsoft, Becomes World's Most Valuable Company Again
Nvidia (NVDA, Financials) reclaimed its position as the world's most valuable publicly traded company on Tuesday, overtaking Microsoft (MSFT, Financials) after its shares climbed 3% to $141.40. The gain lifted Nvidia's market capitalization to $3.45 trillion, narrowly edging past Microsoft's $3.44 trillion. The last time Nvidia held the top spot was on Jan. 24, and it has rotated frequently with Microsoft and Apple over the past year. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 4 Warning Signs with NVDA. The surge extends a nearly 24% rally over the past month, as investors continue to bet on Nvidia's dominance in artificial intelligence hardware. The company's chips are critical components for powering advanced AI systems, with customers purchasing Nvidia's accelerators to build large-scale computing clusters. Last week, Nvidia reported first-quarter revenue of $44.06 billion and adjusted earnings of 96 cents per share, marking 69% year-over-year growth. CEO Jensen Huang recently introduced Nvidia's upcoming Vera Rubin chips at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, which will power future U.S. supercomputers. The company, originally founded in 1993 to develop graphics chips for gaming, has since transformed into the central supplier for AI infrastructure as its parallel processing architecture proved ideal for training large language models like ChatGPT. Nvidia's gains also lifted the semiconductor sector, with Broadcom (AVGO, Financials) rising 3%, Micron Technology (MU, Financials) gaining 4%, and the VanEck Semiconductor ETF advancing 2%. Investors will be watching for potential supply chain bottlenecks, additional export restrictions, and signs of continued AI-driven capital expenditure by major tech players.
