Stars Doing Enough to Keep Hellebuyck Off His Game
The results for Connor Hellebuyck have not been as cataclysmic as the opening round against the St. Louis Blues, but the Dallas Stars are doing enough to keep the likely Vezina Trophy winner from finding his stride.
Hellebuyck had a Jennings Trophy winning regular season - a trophy given to the goalie tandem with the lowest goals against average - but had a horrendous start to the playoffs. He was pulled in all three road games in St. Louis, but he and his team pulled out the series win in a nearly miraculous Game 7 victory.
This round, Hellebuyck has only allowed more than three goals in one of the four games, but has still been on the losing end three times. The Jets only win came in Game 2 when Hellebuyck shut out Dallas.
That could have been a turning point for him personally, but the Stars exploded for three third period goals in Game 3 in a 5-2 win that derailed Hellebuyck's progress once again.
In Game 4 on Tuesday, he did not see nearly as many shots as his counterpart Jake Oettinger did, and he probably would want the Stars first goal back. It was an unscreened shot from well out, and although Mikael Granlund has a quality wrist shot, it is a save Hellebuyck would likely have made every time in the regular season.
Give credit to Dallas. They have not caused chaos like St. Louis has, but individual efforts have been enough to overcome Hellebuyck's effort so far. The Stars were not intimidated after getting shut out, and do not seem to be concerned with how he is playing one way or another.
Dallas is playing their game, and so far, it is enough to build a 3-1 lead on Hellebuyck and the Winnipeg Jets.

Prescott, Pickens show chemistry on Day 2 of Cowboys minicamp
Day 2 of Cowboys minicamp was somewhat more eventful than Day 1. Micah Parsons strapped on the helmet and participated in the individual drills portion, but wasn't seen during team activities. Prescott sharp in two-minute drill On offense, Dak Prescott led a two-minute drill, where he went 6-of-8 passing and capped it off with a 22-yard touchdown pass to Jake Ferguson. Pickens, Prescott building chemistry Another target Prescott has established chemistry with is newly acquired wide receiver George Pickens, who feels he and Prescott have only scratched the surface on what they can do together. "He's just been controlling everything," Pickens said. "All the stuff, all the plays are kind of based on him as well. When I get to see how he wants to run his stuff, how Schotty is calling it ... everything is connecting slowly but surely." New trio working closely Since joining the Cowboys, Pickens has been spending much of his practice time with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. Early signs of offensive depth That Prescott-Pickens connection, young as it may be, has been one of the biggest eye-catchers so far since the team traded for Pickens back in May. "Having him, 88, Jalen, some of the young guys, myself ... Schoony, you physically cannot cover everybody," Ferguson said. "I think it's going to be really hard in the pass game and then also, we can run the ball too." Final day at The Star Two days of minicamp are down, with one to go. Thursday will be the last offseason practice at The Star. Training camp opens in Oxnard The next time this team is together will be at Oxnard for the start of training camp on July 25.

Mavs block New York Knicks from speaking with Jason Kidd, reports say
The New York Knicks asked the Dallas Mavericks for permission to interview head coach Jason Kidd, but the Mavericks shut that down, CBS Sports and The Associated Press report. The Knicks fired head coach Tom Thibodeau on June 3, despite reaching the Eastern Conference finals for the first time in 25 years. They reached the playoffs four times in Thibodeau's five seasons and had won at least 50 games in each of the final two. The Knicks were also denied permission to speak with coaches Ime Udoka of Houston and Chris Finch of Minnesota in a slow start to find Tom Thibodeau's replacement. All three coaches are under contract and their organizations declined to make them available for interviews with the Knicks, two people with knowledge of the details said Wednesday. The people spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the interview process was to remain private. Knicks president Leon Rose interviewed Kidd and Udoka in 2020 before hiring Thibodeau. Both also played for the Knicks, with Kidd ending his Hall of Fame career on the team that reached the 2013 playoffs, which was the Knicks' last appearance before Thibodeau's arrival. Kidd has been the head coach of the Mavs since 2021 and led the Mavericks to the 2024 NBA Finals. He has not publicly addressed the rumors. ___ AP Basketball Writer Tim Reynolds in Indianapolis contributed to this report.

Wings' move to downtown Dallas postponed at least a year by construction delays
DALLAS — The Dallas Wings' move to a renovated downtown arena has been postponed at least a year because of construction delays while a new practice facility is expected to be completed on time. Club CEO and managing partner Greg Bibb told The Dallas Morning News on Wednesday the Wings will play at least one more season at the University of Texas at Arlington, about 20 miles from downtown Dallas. The WNBA team has played in Arlington since moving from Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the 2016 season. The Dallas City Council gave final approval Wednesday to the $55 million practice facility set to be built a few miles west of downtown. Bibb said the Wings plan to use that facility while still playing home games in Arlington. The arena under renovation, which will be called the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas Memorial Arena, is the former home of the Dallas Chaparrals of the American Basketball Association. That franchise became the NBA's San Antonio Spurs in 1973. The city approved $7.7 million for renovations last year as part of a 15-year use agreement, which included a provision that the practice facility had to be completed by 2026. ___ AP WNBA:
