Morocco Futsal WAFCON Tickets Go On Sale
Tickets have gone on sale for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in futsal, which will be held in Morocco from April 22 to 30.
The Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announced on Monday that tickets are available online, with prices set at 20 dirhams for standard entry and 40 dirhams for premium seating.
All matches will take place at the indoor arena of the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.
The competition, organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), brings together national teams from across the continent, in what is only the second edition of the women's tournament. It also offers two places at the FIFA Women's Futsal World Cup in the Philippines next November.
Morocco faces Namibia on April 22 at 8 p.m. Moroccan time (GMT), followed by a match against Cameroon on April 24 at the same hour. Both games take place at the 10,000-seat Moulay Abdallah Sports Hall.
The top team from each group of three, along with the best runner-up, qualifies for the semi-finals. The winners progress to the final, where the AFCON champions will be crowned.
Morocco, already investing heavily in sports infrastructure and continental competitions, is hoping to cement its role as a leading host nation in African sport. Tags: 2025 Futsal AFCONFutsal WAFCONWAFCON

Moroccan surfer Ramzi Boukhiam undergoes surgery after knee injury at Bells Beach
After injuring his knee at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach held in April in Australia, Moroccan surfer Ramzi Boukhiam has undergone surgery and begun the long road to recovery. In an Instagram post shared with his fans and followers on Wednesday, he announced that he had «TTA (Tibial Tuberosity Advancement) surgery», a procedure where the bony prominence at the front of the tibia (shin bone) is moved forward and secured in its new position. «After six weeks of waiting, my knee was finally ready for surgery», he wrote, adding, «It ended up being a bit more complicated than expected, but I was ready to face it». Boukhiam, who had the surgery at a sports clinic in Mérignac, France, said his «rehabilitation hasn't started yet, but the road to recovery begins now», promising to share updates along the way. His knee injury happened just after the first-round heat of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, as he was paddling back to shore. «My leg got stuck in the reef and a wave broke right behind me», he explained on Instagram. «Getting a major injury, again, and during a contest I felt so ready for, just breaks me», he sadly shared right after the incident. Boukhiam, who had to withdraw from the event, said the injury hit him hard. «With everything I've already been through, it honestly hits deep».

Brahim Diaz Out, Amine Zahzouh Gets First Morocco Call-Up
Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Diaz has been ruled out of Morocco's upcoming friendlies against Tunisia and Benin with a muscle injury. Morocco team doctor Christophe Baudot confirmed the news on Tuesday, saying Diaz is continuing treatment at the Mohammed VI Football Complex. 'He won't be ready in time for the Tunisia match,' said Baudot. 'We'll assess his progress ahead of the second game.' Diaz started Madrid's final league match against Real Sociedad but was forced off in the 55th minute. His absence is a blow for Walid Regragui, who is already dealing with several injuries in the squad. Nayef Aguerd, Noussair Mazraoui, Ghanem Saïss and Chemsdine Talbi are all unavailable, while Abdessamad Ezzalzouli remains a doubt. In response, Regragui has handed a first senior call-up to FAR Rabat midfielder Amine Zahzouh, one of the standout players in Morocco's top flight this season. Zahzouh scored 11 goals and provided 13 assists in 43 appearances, finishing the campaign as the Botola Pro's top playmaker. The 23-year-old was already training with Morocco's local-based national team at Maâmora and joined the senior squad for Tuesday's session. Morocco are preparing for two friendlies in Fez against Tunisia on June 6, and Benin on June 9. The matches are part of the build-up to next year's Africa Cup of Nations on home soil. Despite the growing injury list, the camp remains in high spirits. Tuesday's session included a guard of honour for players who won silverware with their clubs this season. Newcastle and Liverpool Eye Moroccan Starlet Aït Boudlal
Moroccan defender Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal is attracting growing interest from top clubs across Europe after a solid loan spell at Amiens. According to Africa Foot, Premier League sides Newcastle United and Liverpool are both keen on the Rennes center-back. Newcastle are understood to have met with the player's camp, while Liverpool have reportedly tabled a formal offer. French clubs OGC Nice and Lille are also monitoring him closely, with two top-half La Liga teams joining the chase. Aït Boudlal joined Rennes from Morocco's Mohammed VI Academy in July 2024. He spent the first half of the 2024–25 season playing for Rennes II in Championnat National 3 before moving to Amiens on loan in February. Despite joining mid-season, Aït Boudlal quickly became a regular starter for Amiens, making nine league appearances – eight as a starter – and registering one assist in a 3–2 win over Guingamp. His physical presence, composure, and sharp positioning have been widely praised. Amiens finished the season mid-table, in 11th. At 1.90m tall, Aït Boudlal is a commanding figure in defense. He captained Morocco at U17 level, leading them to runners-up finishes in the 2022 Arab Cup and 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. He scored in the U17 AFCON final and earned a place in the Team of the Tournament. He also represented Morocco at the 2023 U17 World Cup. In October 2023, The Guardian named him among the 60 best young footballers in the world born in 2006. Still under contract with Rennes until 2028, Aït Boudlal faces a crucial summer. His next move could be a defining step in his career. Tags: Aït BoudlalAmiensLiverpoolNewcastleRennes
