Navi Mumbai: Turbhe police have booked two men for performing stunts on a moving auto rickshaw. While one of them is seen sitting atop the auto without a driver, the other was making a reel.
Police learnt about the incident after the reel was posted on social media. The duo, Shamshud Ahmed (27) and Akshay Dhotre, have been booked under BNS and Motor Vehicles Act. — George Mendonca

According to news agency PTI, the incident happened in the early hours of Thursday at the Oberoi Square complex in Goregaon East. Police said the Class XI student leapt from the C wing of the building. It is the second such incident at the complex in a month — last time involving a male student from the A wing. Representative Image BAREILLY: A 45-year-old mentally ill woman was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Mitauli area of UP's Lakhimpur Kheri on Wednesday evening. A resident of Piyara village, the woman was walking towards the fields when she came across dogs feeding on a dead animal. Locals said the dogs turned on her, biting her neck, face and head. With no one nearby to help, she died on the spot. Police said her mental health had deteriorated after her husband's death. She lived with her uncle in the village. Mitauli SHO Shivaji Dubey said, "The woman was severely bitten. The family declined a postmortem examination and did not file a complaint. Representative image JHARSUGUDA: A Pocso court in Jharsuguda on Wednesday sentenced a 52-year-old man to life imprisonment for raping a 17-year-old blind girl, with the conviction coming 99 days after registration of the FIR in the case. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict. Failure to pay the fine will result in another six months of rigorous imprisonment. The judge also directed the state to pay a compensation of Rs 10.5 lakh to the survivor. According to case records, the girl, after having lunch, had gone to the convict's house to hear the TV. When other family members of the man were asleep, he gagged her mouth and raped her. The court pronounced its judgment after examining 27 witnesses and 32 documents, said special public prosecutor Pritiwiraj Singhdeo. IG (northern range) Himanshu Kumar Lal said, "In this case, as per the new BNS Act, the conviction was done in 99 days after the FIR was registered. This will set an example for others that anyone committing a crime will face stringent punishment in the shortest possible time." SP (Jharsuguda) Smit Parmar said the accused threatened the survvor not to disclose the crime to anyone. On May 3, she told her father about her ordeal. Her father informed other villagers, but they didn't take any step. After two days, he lodged an FIR against the man. Parmar said, "This is a landmark judgment and due care was taken throughout investigation to ensure speedy justice."
