Mark Wahlberg tells Scots brothers their Pacific rowing bid ‘could be a movie'
As well as aiming to set a record for the fastest row across the world's largest ocean, the brothers are hoping to raise £1 million for clean water projects in Madagascar.
Wahlberg told the brothers that he was 'so inspired' by their undertaking, which has seen them battle salt sores, relentless weather and broken equipment during more than seven weeks at sea.
'You're badasses doing something no one else would think of', he told them.
'This could be a movie. The best films I've done are based on true stories – ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
'No way I'd row an ocean, but I'd play one of you guys in a movie.'
He added: 'What you guys are doing is next level. You're living out a sense of purpose – combining passion with impact.
'That's rare, and it's humbling to watch. People need to hear about what you're doing.'
Ewan Maclean told the actor that speaking to him from the middle of the Pacific was 'probably the most surreal situation I've ever been in'.
Lachlan added: 'We're operating on such little sleep that we thought it could all have been a hallucination.'
Wahlberg responded that he 'couldn't be more inspired by the grit, the determination, the resiliency' that the brothers were showing.

He continued: 'What you guys are doing for such an amazing cause, and how hard you're willing to sacrifice yourself and your own wellbeing for the good of others, is so inspiring.
'For you guys to do this under your own free will – it's pretty crazy. Some would say we might need to give you a couple of psychological examinations.'
Wahlberg, who owns restaurants in Sydney and the Gold Coast, also told the brothers he would 'have a meal waiting for you' at the finish line.
Asked about conditions so far, Ewan replied that 'it's been much harder than expected', but that earlier that day they had seen 'dolphins surfing near the boat, and that lifted our spirits'.
Wahlberg quipped: 'You guys are probably getting a lot more sunshine than you're used to at home.'
He added: 'I've been fortunate enough to visit a couple of times and it's a beautiful, beautiful country. So you guys are making your homeland proud.'
The brothers expect to spend more than 100 days on board their 28-foot carbon fibre boat, named Rose Emily in honour of their late sister.

During this emotional trip, Coleen reflected on losing her adopted sister Rosie after a lifelong battle with the rare brain disorder Rett syndrome as she met with disabled refugee kids during a visit to a UNICEF Educational Rehabilitation School. Coleen met fitness coach Kateryna and her seven-year-old son, Murat, who has learning difficulties. She said: "One of the schools was for children with disabilities. And I grew up in that environment, my sister went to a school like that." Coleen continued to the Mirror: "It was just like where they were, with music therapy, physiotherapy and all those things for the sensors. I felt so comfortable, it wasn't a shock. "That was probably the easiest visit of my time in Poland. "Because I've experienced that and I felt comfortable there." Coleen also visited a Spilno Hub, in Krakow, which supports families who've fled the war. She met Yuliia, her sister Olisia and Yuliia's four-year-old daughter Anastasiia. The star admitted the experience had "opened her eyes" to the reality of war, saying: "You think it is over, it's not. These people have been hit with trauma and it's hard for them to move on." Coleen had previously spoken about her love for Rosie in the 2023 Disney+ documentary Coleen: The Real Wagatha Christie Story. She had described her as being the 'sister that I never thought I was going to have'. Coleen added: 'She brought that little bit extra to the house. We fell in love with her.' Rosie was born on February 2, 1998, and was diagnosed with Rett syndrome. The rare genetic disorder affects brain development, resulting in severe mental and physical disability. She was adopted by the McLoughlin family when she was two-years-old. Sadly, Rosie died aged 14 in 2013 after a lifelong battle with the condition. 6 Coleen visited a UNICEF Educational Rehabilitation School Credit: PA

Hundreds of Kate Bush fans gather Scots city park to recreate Wuthering Heights dance
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) HUNDREDS of Kate Bush fans flocked to a park in a Scottish city to recreate the star's Wuthering Heights music video. Fans of the music legend gathered at the Meadows Festival yesterday to celebrate the 1978 song. The first event was held twelve years ago in Brighton when British performance group Shambush came up with the idea in 2013. And this year, people came together to recreate the dance in the song's iconic video in Scotland's capital city. Music fans of all ages dressed in gorgeous, bright red dresses similar to the one that Kate wore in the original video. And many beamed as they were taught the same dance moves while music played in the background. Many women wore long red dresses with black belts, and little girls wore matching outfits and red jumpers with red hairpieces. Some men were even spotted wearing red dresses as well as they got in on the action. The event started at 4pm, giving performers time to get checked in, fix their outfits and collect merchandise before a welcome at 4.30pm. A warm-up then started at 4.35pm before the dance was taught ten minutes later. After a quick water break, the dance started at 5.10pm and attendees performed it twice before posing for a group photo. Strictly legends return to the stage for new tour after huge endorsement from show judge A website was set up ahead of the event, sharing all the details for those who wished to attend. It read: "Welcome to The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever – Edinburgh 2025! "Get ready to dress up in your best red dress and join us for a fun-filled afternoon of dancing and celebrating the iconic music video by Kate Bush. "The event will take place on Saturday, June 7, at 4.30pm as part of the programme at the Meadows Festival. INSTANTLY CAPITVATED KATE Bush wrote her chart-topping song Wuthering Heights whe she was just 18 years old. The hit song was her debut single and became an unexpected number one hit almost 50 years ago back in 1978. It was actually the first song that was written and performed by a female artist to reach the UK top spot. Despite the song being named after Emily Brontë's novel, it wasn't the book itself that inspired Kate, now 66, to write the song. In an interview in 1978, she told the BBC that the broadcaster's 1967 TV series of the story is what gave her the idea. Kate explained that she came across an episode of the telly adaptation and was blown away by it's startling imagery. At the time, she said: "I just managed to catch the very last few minutes where there was a hand coming through the window and blood everywhere and glass. "And I just didn't know what was going on, and someone explained the story." "Let's come together as a community and recreate the magic of the Wuthering Heights dance. "Don't miss out on this unforgettable experience!" Pictures and videos of the event have been widely shared on social media, and many flocked to the comments to praise the dancers. One person said: "Wish I was there... great!" Another added: "Omg, I wish I'd been there!" Someone else wrote: "Love it! Well done". And a fourth posted: "That's pretty cool!" While a fifth chimed in: "Wow, this looks fabulous! Well done".
