Which bookies offer Non-Runner No Bet on the Cheltenham Festival?

Telegraph29-01-2025

NRNB means that, in the event of your selection being a non-runner, your bet will be voided and your stake will be returned to you. In contrast, a standard ante-post bet would be settled as a loser.
There are many reasons why a horse may not run in a particular race:
It may be stricken by sickness, injury or bad form
It may have been entered in more than one race at Cheltenham so its connections can keep their options open about which race to target
It may not qualify for the race. For example, there are only a limited number of runners in the handicap fields and priority is given to the highest-rated horses (unless there are other conditions to the race).
Bookmakers started to offer Non-Runner No Bet to get the more casual bettor invested in ante-post betting, which creates a real buzz ahead of the Festival. However, the odds will be lower than those in the standard ante-post markets.
Which bookmakers are Non-Runner No Bet on the Cheltenham Festival?
Assessing the Non-Runner No Bet bookmakers
William Hill
William Hill was the first bookmaker to offer Non-Runner No Bet this year, as it has been in recent years, and it is offering it for all 28 races at next month's Cheltenham Festival.
Often, bookmakers will offer NRNB for specified races only but William Hill threw down the gauntlet on New Year's Day and announced it would apply to all races. This must have been a challenge for the traders to price up following all the great racing over the festive period.
If you don't have a William Hill account and want to take advantage of NRNB, then this is the current welcome offer available:
bet365
Not to be outdone, bet365 swiftly followed suit and matched William Hill's NRNB promotion two weeks after the latter opened.
Initially, their traders will have welcomed the news this was only being made available on five championship races at the Festival: the Champion Hurdle (Tuesday), Champion Chase (Wednesday), Ryanair Chase (Thursday), Stayers' Hurdle (Thursday) and Gold Cup (Friday). However, as of January 28 they have gone NRNB on all 28 races.
If you don't have a bet365 account and want to take advantage of NRNB, then this is the current welcome offer available:
Sky Bet
Sky Bet began to offer the NRNB promotion as of 9am on Friday January 17, applying it to all 28 races across the four days of the Festival.
The particular hard task that Sky Bet would have shared with William Hill is pricing up the races for which the fields have yet to take shape, such as the big handicaps and the Champion Bumper.
If you don't have a Sky Bet account and want to take advantage of NRNB, then this is the current welcome offer available:
Where NRNB can be used for Cheltenham 2025
Brighterdaysahead for NRNB backers?
One way you could use NRNB to your advantage is if you think that Brighterdaysahead, trained by Gordon Elliott, will win the Mares' Hurdle on the opening day.
Her connections have a history of targeting this race even with runners who have the quality to challenge in the Champion Hurdle. Last year's winner of the Mares' Hurdle, Lossiemouth. still holds an entry for the race this year, which is propping up Brighterdaysahead price of 4/7 (with Sky Bet), but Lossiemounth, trained by Willie Mullins, is more likely to line up in the Champion Hurdle.
If Brighterdaysahead contests the Mares' Hurdle, it is very unlikely that you will get better odds than 4/7 on the day, and if connections have a change of heart and give her a chance in the Champion Hurdle, you will get your stake back in full.
Distance dilemma for Impaire Et Passe
Another Mullins horse with great potential has a dilemma ahead of the 2025 Cheltenham Festival. Impaire Et Passe has won on both chasing starts over 2m 5½f at Fairyhouse and 2m 3½f at Limerick, but the two Grade 1 novice chases at the Festival are over 2m and 3m, so the seven-year-old must either step up or down in trip.
If you are of the opinion that the gelding will thrive over the shorter trip in the Arkle, which is more than conceivable given races on day one can be run at an adrenaline-fuelled frantic pace, teeing it up for a better stayer to come into the contest late – then 7/1 (with Sky Bet) NRNB would be a logical bet. This would mean you would get your stake back if he was then put into the longer trip.
If you are of the opposite opinion to the above then the reverse applies, making 6/1 (with Sky Bet) NRNB for the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase the preferred choice.
Which bookmakers will offer Non-Runner No Bet next?
It's important to keep up to date with which bookmakers are offering Non-Runner No Bet, as more are sure to go live with the offer in the weeks leading up to the Festival.
BoyleSports, Betfair and Paddy Power are three bookies that offered the promotion in 2024, but have not yet announced if or when they will do so for 2025, so keep your eyes peeled for updates.
Prices will vary between bookmakers, so also ensure you keep up to date with which operators are running Non-Runner No Bet in order to get the best possible price for your ante-post selection.
We will endeavour to update our readers as soon as any other operators announce that they will be offering this promotion. With NRNB becoming more and more popular it is likely a record number will adopt it closer to the start of the 2025 Festival, so keep checking this page for more information.

‘Big run' expected from Absurde on York return

Willie Mullins' seven-year-old is a true dual-purpose performer who won the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in 2024 and then the Listed Chester Stakes later the same year. He started his Flat campaign this season at the latter track when third in the Group Three Ormonde and now turns his attentions to the Knavesmire again, where he landed the Ebor under an inspired Frankie Dettori in 2023. 'He's an incredible horse, he's been to Cheltenham, Ascot and Chester,' said Patrick Mullins, assistant to his father. 'We're really looking forward to sending him back to York, he obviously won the Ebor there back in 2023. 'He's in great form at home, he's race-fit and we're expecting a big run from him.' A field of five has assembled for the race, with Andrew Balding's Alsakib also bringing course-and-distance form to the table as the winner of the Silver Cup last term. Charlie Appleby's El Cordobes and David Simock's Raja Raja both run, and so too does Karl Burke's Al Qareem. The six-year-old was the runner-up behind Alsakib in the Silver Cup last year, and has returned to action this season in good form with a win in the Listed Further Flight and a second-placed effort ahead of Absurde in the Ormonde. 'He's in great form at home, the ground isn't going to be ideal but hopefully we'll get a shower,' said Nick Bradley of ownership group Nick Bradley Racing. 'The alternative was to go to the Listed race at Goodwood that Hamish won (the Tapster Stakes), we'd have had the ground there but the race would have potentially been a bit tougher. 'He's in great form and this will hopefully set him up nicely for the rest of the season.'

ITV horse racing tips: Saturday – Chester, Sandown and York

It's the weekend before Royal Ascot but there's still some good, competitive racing, including seven races on ITV4 on Saturday (1.30-4pm). Our resident expert has a verdict for each of them. Ron Wood's selections: Odds provided by William Hill and correct at the time of writing. Stars denote strength of selection (maximum five). If you already have a William Hill account and are looking for a new bookmaker to use for this week's racing, check out more free bets from the best betting sites, reviewed by our experts. 1.50 York – Class 3 Handicap (7f) AALTO hasn't been seen since September but he went close to winning on his reappearance last season and he later won the Bunbury Cup, a competitive handicap at Newmarket. He came home two lengths clear that day and the runner-up subsequently won the Ayr Gold Cup. The selection resumes only 4lb higher than for that success and he has run well at York. He could also cope if there's a bit of rain – and the weather forecast is unsettled – so he seems to have a few things going for him. Selection: Aalto @ 9/1 with William Hill 2.05 Sandown – Class 2 Handicap (1m) There's still better to come from the well-bred CLASSIC, who has run respectably in defeat in both starts this year at Newbury, most recently in a race that didn't unfold to suit. Richard Hannon's horse has won at this venue and Ryan Moore rides him for the first time. As with York, the weather at Sandown looks a bit unsettled but Classic can cope with most conditions. 2.25 York – Class 3 Handicap (1m 4f) There's also still better to come from the lightly raced MY DREAM WORLD, judging by the way he stayed on when fifth at Ascot on his recent return from a 10-month absence. He raced off the pace in a slowly run race, didn't get a clear run and was not given a hard ride. Only the winner finished faster than him and he looked good value for finishing second. The selection is probably going to need further before long, but he should be better for that return effort and he appeals as worth siding with. 2.40 Sandown – Scurry Stakes (Listed, 5f) TOWN AND COUNTRY is still improving and this looks to be a good opportunity for her. She finished well to take second in a fillies' Listed race at Cork on her latest start and this stiff track should suit. The form of that Cork contest has worked out well since, with the winner finishing a close third at Group 2 level and the fourth winning a Group 3 prize at Newbury. Irish champion jockey Colin Keane, newly appointed as retained rider to Juddmonte, takes over in the saddle for the first time, which is no bad thing. Selection: Town And Country @ 4/1 with William Hill 3.00 York – Grand Cup (Listed, 1m 6f) On the face of it, ABSURDE was a little disappointing when selected on these pages for the Group 3 Ormonde Stakes at Chester last month, finishing third, one place behind the re-opposing Al Qareem. However, the ground was slower than expected, which blunted the turn of foot that is his main asset, and the winner that day, Illinois, is favourite for next week's Ascot Gold Cup. This Willie Mullins runner will want the rain to stay away, but he won the 2023 Ebor over this trip on his only previous start at York. He also won a Chester Listed race the only other time he was ridden by today's jockey Daniel Tudhope, whose quiet style suits him. 3.20 Chester – Class 2 Handicap (7½f) JOUNCY, highly tried last year including when finishing second in a Group 3 race on the all-weather at Kempton, hasn't progressed this season but he has plenty going for him now. On his latest outing, he found 6f against older rivals in a Listed contest at Salisbury asked too much of him, but now he steps up in trip and down in class for his handicap debut, plus he's back against his own age group. Consider also that the visor he wore when runner-up in that Group 3 race is fitted for the first time in this campaign, and he is drawn low around this sharp circuit. The booking of Hollie Doyle appeals as a good one for this course too. 3.35 York – Class 2 Handicap (6f) This extremely good three-year-old sprint handicap could hardly be any more competitive, so it's not one for a confident punt, but DOUBLE RUSH may still be underestimated by the official assessor. He won on his handicap debut at Newmarket when looking well in at the weights and his form is working out, so a 5lb rise doesn't seem excessive. It might be that the selection could ideally do with at least a bit of rain. Selection: Double Rush @ 11/2 with William Hill Today's racing (Flat unless stated) Bath 1.23-4.50 Sandown 1.30-5.35 Chester 1.35-5.05 Downpatrick (NH) 1.40-5.10 York 1.50-5.20 Hexham (NH) 4.20-7.28 Uttoxeter (NH) 5.40-8.40 Leicester 6.20-8.50 Ron Wood 2025 horse racing P/L (up to and including Thursday June 12) Star ratings explained ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - confident selection ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - strong fancy ⭐⭐⭐ - fair claims ⭐⭐ - tentative choice ⭐ - minimum confidence If you want to find more odds and offers, take a look at our list of the best betting sites and free bets Check out our list of the best casino bonuses in the UK
