Verification of educational degree: PTV issues final notice to all employees
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) Headquarters has issued a final notice to all employees, directing them to complete the verification of their educational degrees through the Higher Education Commission (HEC) without any further delay.
According to the official circular, all regular, contractual, and professional staff—particularly those in Pay Group-3 and above are required to submit HEC-attested copies of their bachelor's or higher degrees. This requirement applies even to those whose degrees have already been verified at the headquarters level by their respective universities.
Despite an earlier deadline of January 31, 2025, several employees have failed to comply with the instruction. The administration has now given a final one-week deadline from the date of the notice to submit verified degree copies.
The PTV administration has warned that failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe will result in strict disciplinary action, which may include termination of employment without further notice.
The Controller Administration and Personnel, Farhat Abbas Janjua, emphasised that verification of educational credentials is a legal and essential requirement for the organisation.
All PTV centres across the country have received the notification, and a compliance report has been requested. The PTV has made it clear that negligence in degree verification will not be tolerated, and all employees are strongly advised to treat the matter with urgency and seriousness.

Pakistan to ramp up action against illegal foreigners, power theft and begging mafia

Minister Naqvi stated that the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) would enable real-time data verification at border exit points. More than 250 intelligence-based operations are now being conducted daily across the country, targeting various forms of organised illegality. The session also reviewed progress on anti-encroachment drives, digital fuel pump regulation, and the upcoming establishment of the Pakistan Port Authority. Developments in the Gwadar City Safe City Project, including the construction of a protection wall and deployment of digital enforcement stations on the Indus River, were discussed. Efforts to install an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) for highway surveillance and a new legal mechanism allowing customs officers and deputy commissioners to seal petrol stations selling illegal fuel were also outlined. NA panel reviews PTV performance
The National Assembly Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting met on Thursday at PTV Headquarters under the chairmanship of MNA Pullain Baloch to discuss matters related to Pakistan Television (PTV). The committee was informed that PTV earned Rs7.5 billion in advertising revenue in FY 202324, surpassing its target of Rs6.2 billion. The revenue target for the current year is also expected to be met. Despite this, PTV continues to face financial challenges. A major portion of the Rs10 billion collected through the TV licence fee in electricity bills is reportedly used for salaries and pensions. The management attributed delays in salary payments to diverted funds for international financial obligations and the purchase of international media rights. The committee was also briefed on increased viewership resulting from programming enhancements and new on-screen talent, as well as ongoing efforts to upgrade the pension management system in collaboration with the Punjab Information Technology Board. Details of non-performing and politically appointed employees laid off during the current restructuring process were also shared. Addressing the delayed allotment of plots to journalists in Islamabad's Sectors F-14, F-15, and Bhara Kahu, the committee directed the Ministry to complete application scrutiny and resolve related grievances within two months. On the PEMRA (Amendment) Bill 2025, moved by MNA Asia Naz Tanoli, the committee reviewed the report submitted by its sub-committee headed by MNA Mehtab Akbar Rashdi. PEMRA was directed to provide its feedback on the recommendations. The committee instructed PTV, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC), and Shalimar Recording and Broadcasting Company (SRBC) to ensure disbursement of salaries and pensions to all employees before the upcoming Eid. Earlier, the committee unanimously passed a resolution praising the professionalism of Pakistan's armed forces in defending national sovereignty against Indian aggression.
