Texas reportedly wrecked an Ohio State play months before their College Football Playoff rematch
The Texas Longhorns are doing all the right things to build up a rivalry
The Ohio State Buckeyes may be the reigning national champions, but that doesn't mean the football program is without quite a few qualms with the current state of college football.
Of course, at the top of the list is Ryan Day's inability to defeat the University of Michigan, but the 1B problem for Buckeyes fans is just how often the team has been stuck with noon Eastern time kickoff windows.

Typically, the biggest matchups for top programs occur in primetime. Fox, a Big Ten broadcast partner, has bucked this trend by trying to make its Big Noon Kickoff show the network's main event each week during the season. That's led to a lot of anger from Ohio State fans who want to sleep in, tailgate longer and see the Buckeyes under the lights.
So you can imagine disappointment for Buckeyes fans upon learning their 2025 season-opening matchup against Arch Manning's Texas Longhorns — a College Football Playoff rematch — would kick off at, yep, noon.
Amazingly, per Front Office Sports, Ohio State successfully lobbied Fox to move the August 30 game from Saturday to Sunday night (which must've been easier to do with no NFL game that weekend). Unfortunately, the Buckeyes also needed Texas' permission to move the game — and the Longhorns had zero incentive to help their opponents out.

Ohio being Ohio, even state legislators have entered the fray to eliminate noon kickoffs from the Buckeyes' schedule, but a bill that fines the Big Ten and Fox $10 million for noon kickoffs probably won't be making any headway at all.
Now all Texas has to do is remember to pack a giant flag in case if it wins, and the Longhorns will complete the angry Buckeyes fan trifecta.

Ryan Williams Reveals Conversation With Jeremiah Smith During College Football 26 Cover Shoot

Ryan Williams Reveals Conversation With Jeremiah Smith During College Football 26 Cover Shoot originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Alabama's Ryan Williams and Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith were two true freshmen playmakers who stole the show last season. Advertisement Both wide receivers appeared on the Freshman All-American teams and Smith broke out in a big way thanks to the Buckeyes winning a national championship. With the pending July 10 release of EA Sports College Football 26, Smith and Williams are expected to be a significant part of the game's marketing, given their status as premier players from two of college football's biggest programs. Williams, while being interviewed by On3's Andy Staples, revealed the topics of conversation shared with Smith during the game's cover shoot. "Whenever we were in Pasadena, of course, we talked about last season and him winning a national championship. I was super happy for him," Williams said. Advertisement Smith finished the 2024 season with 76 receptions for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also ran for one touchdown and rushed for 47 yards. In addition to being the Rose Bowl MVP, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound receiver was Big Ten Receiver and Freshman of the Year as well as a first-team All-American. Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver Ryan Williams (2).Will McLelland-Imagn Images "But you know, we both agreed that although last year was super fun, super great and we both had good freshman seasons," Williams continued. "We left a lot on the table. Just with that experience from last season, we're still super excited for what's to come this season." Williams ended last year with 48 receptions for 865 yards and eight touchdowns. He also added 48 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Advertisement Expectations for both Ohio State and Alabama are high, as it should be for two of the biggest schools in the country. In ESPN's latest way-too-early rankings, the Buckeyes are Crimson are listed at No. 5 and No. 9, respectively. Both programs have yet to name a starter at quarterback after each school lost last season's starter to the NFL draft. Alabama and Ohio State both begin next season on Aug. 30, with the Buckeyes hosting the Texas Longhorns and the Crimson Tide traveling to Tallahassee to play the Florida State Seminoles. Kirby Smart, Georgia Reportedly Made a Move To Steal 5-Star WR Away From Alabama

Kirby Smart, Georgia Reportedly Made a Move To Steal 5-Star WR Away From Alabama originally appeared on Athlon Sports. With spring football fading further into the rearview mirror, the attention of college football coaches and their staff turns squarely toward recruiting. From May 29 to June 22, it is a quiet period, meaning in-person recruiting contacts are permitted if they occur on the team's campus. Advertisement The Georgia Bulldogs are aiming to build upon a highly successful 2025 recruiting class, which finished second overall according to On3, with another impressive class brewing for 2026. UGA head coach Kirby Smart is reportedly using every tactic at his disposal in the pursuit of five-star wide receiver Cederian Morgan. The country's No. 15 player and No. 2 wide receiver, per On3, has been considered an Alabama lean. But Georgia has been trying to shift his recruitment in their favor, according to DawgsHQ's Rusty Mansell. Georgia wide receiver coach James Coley has been making a lot of visits with Morgan this offseason. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound receiver was recently in Athens, Georgia, and on campus for an official visit with the Bulldogs. Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby J. Rebilas-Imagn Images Many college football analysts felt the big piece missing from the Bulldogs last season was a lack of playmakers on offense. With the NFL draft departures of wide receiver Ladd McConkey and tight end Brock Bowers after the 2023 season, the Bulldogs took a step back statistically. Advertisement In 2023, with Bowers and McConkey, Georgia finished fifth in total offense (496.5 yards per game). In 2024, they dropped down to 51st (405.4 yards per game). Among their 2025 recruiting class, per On3, Georgia added Elyiss Williams and Ethan Barbour, two four-star tight ends. They also received five commitments from wide receivers and added three more via the transfer portal. The 2026 recruiting class will run through February of next year, but UGA is already putting in work with a four-star commitment at tight end and two more four-star commits at wide receiver. A player of Morgan's caliber would be a big coup for the Bulldogs. On3 has Morgan with a 92.8% prediction to Alabama and less than 1% to Georgia. Advertisement Last season, as a junior at Benjamin Russell (AL), Morgan caught 70 passes for 1,162 yards and 14 touchdowns.
