Algeria will be making their sixth appearance of the competition. Despite their consistency in qualifying, Les Vertes are still striving to make a breakthrough and establish themselves as one of the continent's top sides. To date, they have never progressed beyond the group stage.
Players to Watch
Marine Dafeur
An experienced defender playing for FC Fleury 91 in France, Marine Dafeur brings defensive stability and top-level experience to the team. Trained in France, she joined the Algerian national team in 2023 and quickly established herself as a key figure in the backline.
Lina Boussaha
An attacking midfielder, Lina Boussaha plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. A former Paris Saint-Germain player, she joined the Algerian squad in 2023. Her European experience and creativity in midfield are valuable assets for the team.
Head Coach: Farid Benstiti
Algeria has been coached by Farid Benstiti since 2023. A former head coach of the PSG women's team, Benstiti brings extensive experience. Under his leadership, Algeria has shown signs of progress, notably qualifying for the 2024 finals after missing the last two editions.
Ambitions and Group outlook
Algeria is in Group B alongside Nigeria, Tunisia, and Botswana. Nigeria, with eleven continental titles, is the group favourite. Tunisia is an improving side, while Botswana – a surprise semi-finalist in 2022 – remains a tricky opponent. Coach Farid Benstiti believes the draw is favourable and that Algeria has a genuine chance of reaching the quarterfinals for the first time.

Crystal Palace Slam UEFA and CAS After Europa League Snub

Rana Atef Crystal Palace launched an attack on UEFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after being denied a Europa League spot despite winning the FA Cup in May against Manchester City. The South London club accused football's governing bodies of undermining 'sporting merit' and applying rules unevenly to favour certain teams, particularly those involved in multi-club ownership. Palace claimed such clubs exploit 'blind trust' structures to skirt restrictions, while their independence counted for nothing. The statement also condemned the CAS process, citing a lack of transparency, refusal to hear key witnesses, and disclosure requests being denied, a system they allege produces 'pre-determined outcomes' that damage European football's integrity. The ruling confirmed Palace's demotion to the Europa Conference League, where they must overcome FC Midtjylland or Fredrikstad in a two-legged play-off to reach the group stage. read more Japan Stun Spain 2-1 to Qualify for World Cup Last 16 World Cup 2022: Get to Know Confirmed Line-ups of Japan and Spain Group E Decider Saudi Arabia Bid Farewell to World Cup after 2-1 Loss to Mexico Tunisia Achieve Historic Win over France but Fail to Qualify Tunisia to Clash against France in World Cup Sports Get to Know Squad of Group D Teams in World Cup Sports Al Ahly Gift EGP 70,000 to Players After Claiming Egyptian Super Cup Title Sports Bencharki Hits First 2 Goals with Al Jazira Since Leaving Zamalek Sports Arsenal Possible Line-up for Nottingham Forest Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani

Miami Could Host Historic Villarreal-Barcelona La Liga Clash

Rana Atef Villarreal's La Liga clash with Barcelona in December could become the first European league fixture staged outside Europe, after Spain's football federation (RFEF) approved plans to move the game to the United States. The proposal, backed by both clubs, would see the Matchday 17 fixture moved from Villarreal's Estadio de la Cerámica to Miami's Hard Rock Stadium on 20 December 2025 Hard Rock Stadium is a venue set to host seven matches at the 2026 World Cup. The RFEF will now seek authorisation from UEFA and FIFA. Supporters' groups from both clubs, joined by the Spanish Football Supporters' Federation (FASFE), have condemned the move as 'madness' and threatened legal action to block it. FIFA currently prohibits domestic league matches abroad, though it has formed a working group to review the rule. Previous attempts to stage La Liga games in Miami, including Barcelona vs. Girona in 2019 and Barcelona vs. Atlético Madrid last year, were abandoned amid opposition and logistical hurdles. Similar ideas are emerging in different countries in Europe, with AC Milan exploring plans to play a Serie A fixture against Como in Perth, Australia, next February. read more Japan Stun Spain 2-1 to Qualify for World Cup Last 16 World Cup 2022: Get to Know Confirmed Line-ups of Japan and Spain Group E Decider Saudi Arabia Bid Farewell to World Cup after 2-1 Loss to Mexico Tunisia Achieve Historic Win over France but Fail to Qualify Tunisia to Clash against France in World Cup Sports Get to Know Squad of Group D Teams in World Cup Sports Al Ahly Gift EGP 70,000 to Players After Claiming Egyptian Super Cup Title Sports Bencharki Hits First 2 Goals with Al Jazira Since Leaving Zamalek Sports Arsenal Possible Line-up for Nottingham Forest Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani

PSG sign Ukrainian defender Illia Zabarnyi - World

European champions Paris Saint-Germain announced on Tuesday they have signed Ukrainian centre-back Illia Zabarnyi from Premier League club Bournemouth. "Paris Saint-Germain are excited to welcome Illia Zabarnyi," PSG said in a statement, adding that he would be the first Ukrainian ever to play for the club. Zabarnyi, 22, had an impressive 2024-2025 season in England and his arrival in the French capital is expected to put pressure on PSG's Brazilian stalwart Marquinhos in central defence. Bournemouth have now sold three of their first-choice defensive lineup from last season after Milos Kerkez moved to Premier League champions Liverpool and Dean Huijsen was transferred to Real Madrid.
