Earlier, in an interview Fardeen had spoken about taking time off from movies as he was concentrating on his personal life. Him and his wife Natasha had moved to London and they were facing trouble having children. He said during a chat with Bollywood Hungama, "We were having challenges having children, and that's when we decided to take the IVF route. That's why I needed to take some time off. It wasn't meant to be this long. I thought only for a few years… get everything settled, but things didn't happen that way. Earlier, responding to speculation after Zero's teaser launch, SRK categorically denied any similarities between the two characters, insisting that the story of Zero goes far beyond physical stature. 'It's About Incompleteness, Not Height' As reported by Peeping Moon when asked whether Bauua Singh shared any traits with Appu Raja, Shah Rukh Khan responded firmly: 'Not at all. This film is not about a vertically-challenged person. It's about incompleteness.' He clarified that while Bauua Singh happens to be short in stature, Zero is a film that delves into human flaws, emotional vulnerabilities, and how individuals find joy in spite of them. He added that the film sought to break stereotypes, especially the outdated idea that people with disabilities or differences are relegated to circus-like settings in narratives. 'One of the other things that we didn't want to have is that it's a given that if you're vertically challenged, you would be in a circus. We didn't want that in the film,' he stated.
