Brennan Johnson played a key role in the opening goal as it was his run that led to Luke Shaw putting through his own net.
At the other end, Destiny Udogie struggled to get up to the pace of the match as he was up against Manchester United's Amad Diallo.
SunSport's Henry Tomlinson has given his ratings of the Tottenham players...

Despite threats from the Manchester United attackers, the Italian had very little to do in the first half despite his nervous appearance.

Guglielmo Vicario was bailed out at times thanks to his defenders after some less than convincing keeping.
He did come up clutch as he denied the Red Devils twice to preserve his side's lead.
Pedro Porro - 6

Played his usual game as he tried to help in the attack when Spurs could get forward.
Made an important clearance at 1-0 after Vicario spilled the ball in the box.
Cristian Romero - 7

Took on the responsibility of the armband as Son Heung-Min was only named on the bench.
Led the backline and made sure he was heard even when arguing with the Man United players.
Spurs' defence was mostly well organised and stuck to their job and that was partly down to Romero's leadership even after he handed the armband to Son in the second half.
Micky van de Ven - 8

Picked up a yellow card early on in the second half as he was too aggressive in an aerial duel.
Used his body well at times to deal with the physicality from Rasmus Hojlund.
Did make some important contribtions in the backline but did also see some of his passing miss the mark.
His best moment came when he made a stunning goalline clearance to deny Man United an equaliser in the 68th minute.
Destiny Udogie 89' - 4

The full-back suffered a shaky start to the match as he struggled to win the ball and was caught out of position on more than one occasion.
Diallo had the better of him for much of the first hald and Udogie was lucky not to have been punished for some rash decisions.
Was replaced for the final minutes by Djed Spence.
Rodrigo Bentancur - 6

The Argentine did not do a lot wrong but he did not make a notable impression in the match.
He had a couple of forays forward but could not make an incisive pass.
Yves Bissouma - 8

Did a lot of the hard work and often had to cover for Udogie when he had been caught out or taken on.
Bissouma also showed his dribbling ability as he was often the one driving Spurs up the pitch.
He continued this in the second half as he was argueably Tottenham's most important player in the final.
Did pick up a yellow card for delaying the game after Diallo was fouled.
Pape Matar Sarr 89' - 7

Fluffed a decent chance to get an effort on goal in the 17th minute as he could not get a decent connection.
It was his dangerous cross that led to the opening goal for the North London side.
Was taken off in the closing stages.
Brennan Johnson 78' - 7

Looked lively at the start with his direct and positive play as he almost forced in the opening goal early on.
He did start to fade towards the end of the first half as Spurs focused their efforts down the opposite wing.
That was until his brilliant run caused Luke Shaw to put through his own net and give Tottenham the lead.
Dominic Solanke - 5

The striker was mostly marshalled out of the game in the opening 45 minutes by the Red Devils' backline.
A poor touch in the 62nd minute saw Solanke throw away a brilliant chance to have a one-on-one with Onana and wrap up the game.
Richarlison 66' - 5

Richarlison was careless with possession at times

Got himself into some important positions in the first half but failed to take advantage as he saw a shot blocked and a through-ball go astray.
Did contribute defensively as his side tried to defend thier lead but going forward he often lost possession.
He picked up a yellow card before the hour mark for a blatant foul on Noussair Mazraoui.
Not a surprise that he was the first man to be hulled off by Postecoglou.
Subs
Son Hueng-Min 66' - 6
Took the armband off Romero when he came on for the final 25 minutes of the match.
Had a great chance to lead a counterattack but hogged the ball for too long and was caught by Dorgu.
Kevin Danso 78' - 6
Sent on to make see out the result and earn Tottenham their firsy trophy in over two decades.
Almost got onto the end of a cross from Son to wrap up the result.
Archie Gray 89' - N/A
Djed Spence 89' - N/A

Matheus Cunha determined to help change fortunes of ‘dream team' Man United
The 20-time English champions are in the midst of a rebuild under Ruben Amorim, having limped home 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final to fellow strugglers Tottenham. The defeat in Bilbao cost them Champions League qualification, meaning United will spend a first season without European football since 2014-15. But the Red Devils' issues did not deter Brazil international Cunha, who completed his eagerly-anticipated £62.5million switch from Wolves on Thursday. ✍️ It just looks right. — Manchester United (@ManUtd) June 12, 2025 'It is the most common phrase that you can say at this moment, but this is the dream come true,' he told MUTV. 'Maybe outside, I think maybe my decision, they don't understand. But when you have always dreamed to play here, it's easier to pick this decision. 'For me, no-one else is like United. Of course, I know it's been a hard season for everyone. I think my decision shows what this club is for me and what I believe this club can be. 'And, of course, I'll do everything that I can to manage this inside of me, to play for my dream team and put my dream team to win.' A post shared by Manchester United (@manchesterunited) Cunha loved United growing up and spoke of his admiration for Wayne Rooney, along with many other members of the triumphant 2008 Champions League side. The Red Devils are a long way from even qualifying for that competition right now, yet the forward has lofty ambitions. 'I don't think we have one player who comes here and then doesn't think about the glory days in Man United,' Cunha said. 'To remember all the times that they win the Premier League, how many titles it was, and of course to qualify for the Champions League. This is what I think about United, you know to put this club on top. 'Then what I can do is everything to show them I'm here to help the team, to conquer these kind of things.' Cunha is the first of Amorim's summer recruits and the Brazilian, who has signed a deal until 2030 with the option of another year, is excited to work under the United head coach. 'I really believe in him, everything that he did in Portugal,' he said. 'I hope he can conquer the world like he did in Portugal. 'But of course I think he needs the players that can do everything like I'm open to do and help the team, help him. All the conversation that we have had made my decision easier.'

I have left a big piece of my heart at Brentford
Spurs announced Frank as their new head coach on Thursday night on a three-year deal. It ended Frank's time at Brentford, where he won 136 of his 317 matches across a seven-year spell, with the Danish coach able to lead the club into the Premier League for the first time in 2021 via Championship play-off success at Wembley. A message from Thomas ✍ — Brentford FC (@BrentfordFC) June 13, 2025 In an emotional message posted on Brentford's official club website on Friday, Frank said: 'The time has come for me to move on. But, even as I leave, I know I have left a big piece of my heart at Brentford, not just at the football club but with the community and, of course, the incredible and loyal supporters. 'I want to extend my profound gratitude to the club for giving me the chance to pursue my dreams and for everyone involved who made the journey such a memorable one. 'For my family and I, it has been a privilege to be allowed to be part of such a special community – it's an experience and adventure that we will cherish for life. So, thank you. 'Whatever we have achieved, we have achieved together, and our success is built on unity, spirit, courage and ambition at every level of the club and amongst the fans. A post shared by Tottenham Hotspur (@spursofficial) 'Everybody has contributed, and every contribution has been invaluable. I am not just leaving a football club, I am saying goodbye to friends whose support through good and bad times I will carry with me always. 'I would like to say a special word of thanks to Matthew Benham. His trust and friendship have meant so much and the fact he gave me a chance in English football means I will always owe him a debt of gratitude. Thank you, Matt. 'So, while this is a goodbye, I hope the relationships I have built with everybody will be lasting ones and, of course, we will meet again in the wonderful world of football. 'Thank you, Thomas.' Spurs announced on Friday they would visit Luton for a pre-season friendly on July 26. Further fixtures in addition to Tottenham's tour of Asia towards the end of July are still to be announced, but Frank's first fixture in charge will currently be at Kenilworth Road.
