American makes full English for the first time but 'one thing is missing'

An American living in London decided to put British cuisine to the test by making himself a full English breakfast for the first time, but he quickly argued that one thing was lacking
An American has given his honest verdict after trying to make his own full English breakfast for the first time, but he argued that one element was 'missing' from the popular meal.
Kjordy, from the US, has been living in the UK for the past four years. But even though he's spent multiple years living this side of the pond, he's still introduced to new parts of British culture on a daily basis, from new slang words that he's never heard before to new foods he's yet to try. Because of this, he decided to take on one of the most popular meals in the country.

"About a month ago, I attempted beans on toast, and safe to say, well it could have been better," he said in a TikTok video. "And now, I'm on a quest to perfect the next British cuisine. And after a little consultation with the most British person I know, it's time for a full English breakfast.

"Everybody has their different ways of making it, but today we're putting in bacon, sausage, eggs, roasted tomato, hash browns, toast, Heinz beans, and against my own will, black pudding. Let's get it," he said before he started cooking.
He was seen preheating his oven before cracking his eggs into a pan on the hob to fry. He then placed a tray with two hash browns into the oven Using the same pan he used for the eggs, he went on to cook the sausages and the bacon rashers.
Meanwhile he put the bread in the toaster before microwaving his beans in a bowl. The final step was to fry the halved tomatoes.
"Alrighty man, food is ready. This is a lot of d**n food," he said, showing his plate which had been filled with the breakfast foods. After having made sure to have tasted everything on the plate, except for the black pudding, he said: "I see why this is so popular. The egg with the beans, the sausage, very heavy but very savoury.

"The one thing it is missing [is] something sweet," he criticised. "There's no better combo than sweet and savoury, so having a little syrupy pancake with a bacon is... mm.
"I think it's time I man up and try this damn blood pudding," he said before smelling and taking a bite out of it. However, after gagging because of the flavour, he said: "F**k no."
"My final review, it's really, really good. I don't know how I feel about the beans and tomato with it," he said before giving it a score of six and a half out of ten.

Brits quickly flocked to the comment section to share their tips and tricks for how to make the full English more enjoyable.
"You didn't butter the toast," one person criticised, while another viewer wanted to make sure that he actually cooked the black pudding.
"Good try. Swap the black pudding for fried mushrooms," another person recommended, while a fourth viewer said: "If you didn't cram a bit of each food on one fork full then you haven't eaten a full English. Dip that fork full in HP, you're at a 10/10."
"Solid mate. Tomatoes and black pudding not an essential for me. Keep with the stuff you enjoy!" another person said.
Instead of adding pancakes, like Kjordy wanted, another viewer said: "Ketchup or hp sauce adds something sweet. I like tinned tomatoes with mine as the acidicness of the tomatoes helps contrast the grease of everything else."
"Jam on the toast for sweet can help too. But I'm weird and like jam and buttered toast with egg," another person recommended.

Smokey Robinson was accused of sex assault in 2015, but officials had insufficient evidence for charges, DA says

LOS ANGELES — A sexual assault allegation was made against Motown legend Smokey Robinson in 2015, but no charges were filed because of inasufficient evidence, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said. The decade-old allegation, which was presented to the prosecutor's office by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, is not connected to a recent civil suit that accuses Robinson of sexual assault, attorneys for the plaintiffs in that matter said. Robinson, 85, has not been charged with any crime and has denied any misconduct. The celebrity news website TMZ was first to report the 2015 investigation Friday. 'We discovered that our office was presented with a sexual assault allegation against Mr. Robinson in 2015 by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department,' the district attorney's office said in a statement Friday. 'In that matter, a declination of charges was made based on insufficient evidence,' the district attorney's office said. 'We are not able to provide further information at this time because of an ongoing law enforcement investigation.' The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed that it conducted an investigation and that no charges were ever filed. "Due to the confidential nature of the investigation, we cannot provide more information," th sheriff's department said in a statement Friday. Earlier this month, Robinson was sued by four former housekeepers who have accused the "You've Really Got a Hold on Me" singer of sexual assault. The suit, which seeks at least $50 million, also names Robinson's wife and accused her of knowing about the allegations. Robinson has denied the claims, and this week countersued the four women and their attorneys, alleging defamation and seeking at least $500 million. Attorney Christopher Frost, who is representing Robinson and his wife, said his client maintains his innocence. "One unfortunate aspect of celebrity is that it is not uncommon to be the target of spurious and unsubstantiated allegations," Frost said. "Mr. Robinson looks forward to the conclusion of the current investigation, and has no doubt that a similar determination will be reached here." Attorneys for the women suing Robinson said Friday that the declination of the criminal case in 2015 only means there was a lack of evidence. The person who made the allegation in 2015 is not any of the four women who are suing Robinson, according to the attorneys, John Harris and Herbert Hayden. "The statement released by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office confirms that charges were not filed against Mr. Robinson due to insufficient evidence — not because the claims lacked merit," Harris and Hayden said. "This underscores the significant challenges victims face when reporting incidents of sexual assault, particularly when the alleged perpetrator is a powerful and well-known figure," they said. On May 15, , citing a law enforcement source that it did not name. Robinson is an iconic American soul singer who has had a star-studded career spanning more than 70 years. The recording, producing and songwriting legend was a pioneer for Motown Records, founding the vocal group the Miracles in the 1950s and later releasing albums as a solo artist and working as a record executive for the label. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.

I tested Lidl's new Dubai Chocolate spread and it was a treat

Officially called Della Sante Dubai-Style Chocolate Cream, this follows on from the supermarket launching their own version of the TikTok-famous bar earlier in the year. You may have seen the original confection on the social media platform in the past year or so, as it went viral with many people trying it. Created by Sarah Hamouda of FIX Dessert Chocolatier in 2021, it combines pistachio nuts and milk chocolate alongside some Middle Eastern flavours. Lidl released a £3.99 version of this with the J.D. Gross Dubai-Style Chocolate bar on their TikTok shop on March 20. A limited stock of 6,000 bars was sold out within an hour, with around 72 bars being purchased per minute, according to the supermarket. Due to its popularity, Lidl made the bars available to buy in its stores at the end of the same month. Now it has launched a 190g jar of Dubai Chocolate spread, which can be purchased for £3.99. I was interested in seeing how this spread would stack up to the bar, so I tested it out. I tested Lidl's new Dubai Chocolate spread Back in March, I compared the regular Lidl Dubai Chocolate bar from the supermarket with a more expensive £15 one and wasn't exactly impressed with either of them. Therefore, my expectations were perhaps somewhat lowered for the spread, where I was merely hoping it would rise above being a bit boring. The Lidl Dubai Chocolate spread comes in a 190g jar (Image: Newsquest) Lidl's Della Sante Dubai-Style Chocolate Cream combines Kadayif pastry and chocolate to create a thick, crunchy spread. While you could use the spread on anything of your choosing, I just went for the classic option of putting it on a piece of toast. The spread didn't look the most appetising (Image: Newsquest) The thickness of the spread didn't hinder my ability to cover the surface of the toast, but it didn't look like the most appetising thing to eat either. The benefit of the bar is that the green sludgy mixture is encased in some milk chocolate. Lidl's Dubai Chocolate spread ended up being quite tasty (Image: Newsquest) You don't get that here, with my mum saying it looked like I had put fish paste on a bit of toast. However, to my surprise, the actual taste was genuinely quite good. Recommended reading: It was fairly sweet, and the crunchy parts of it complemented the toast really well. As mentioned previously, I wasn't too enamoured with Lidl's version of the chocolate bar, so the spread outdoes it in almost every way. If you're a fan of the bar anyway, I can imagine you'll like this, but if you weren't quite onboard, this may persuade you.
