This will be the automaker's first GTi model since its predecessor - the Peugeot 308 - was discontinued in 2021.
Little is known about the new features drivers can expect in the upcoming hatchback, but the popular car brand describes it as "fun to drive, agile, powerful – built to deliver an unforgettable driving experience."
Excitedly, this will be Peugeot's first sporty electric car - with an aim to make their EVs much more fun.
Alain Favey, Peugeot boss, said: "We want to continue to nurture the reputation of the brand for driving sensations and the fact that our cars produce particular driving sensations, either as a driver or as someone that is being driven in the car."
Naturally, Peugeot was asked whether the GTi line would be expanded — similar to VW — and if a variant with a combustion engine could be developed.
He said: 'We will start with the 208 and [are] definitely listening to your inputs, or what our customers will say as well.
"We don't exclude that there might be other executions of the 208 GTi under the GTi badge, but for today there's absolutely nothing planned in that sense.'
Favey was adamant that bringing back the GTi would be one of his first priorities after taking over as Peugeot CEO — and it now appears he's kept his word.
Autocar have suggested the e-208 GTi will use the same powertrain as the new Abarth 600e - which gets a 237bhp motor.
It weighs 1625kg and delivers a 0-62mph sprint time of 6.2 seconds.
The Abarth also boasts a 278bhp motor in the limited-edition Scorpionissima variant.
This perhaps suggests a special edition, similar to the 208 GTi by Peugeot Sport.
Better yet, the upcoming release of the e-208 GTi likely means a souped-up version of the Vauxhall Corsa Electric will also be on the cards - as the two models are twinned.
It comes after an iconic car brand revealed its first look of its new hybrid model to start production later this year.
And this stunning Porsche from the 1990s could be yours for an eye-watering price.

Fish and chips, cream tea and hot doughnuts voted the most popular treats for Brits on holiday
Read below to see if your favourite snack makes the list EAT UP Fish and chips, cream tea and hot doughnuts voted the most popular treats for Brits on holiday Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A COASTAL town was treated to free chips with a twist - the chippy was powered by an electric car. In the aptly named Kent town of Deal, National Fish and Chip Day was celebrated with 300 portions of chips given away, as well as a limited run of battered fish. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 The chippy was fronted by two electric cars and fronted by TikTok's 'Chip Shop Diva But it wasn't your ordinary chip shop, with the chippy being powered by two electric cars and fronted by TikTok's 'Chip Shop Diva', Destiny Harold. The Dacia Spring, which its makers say is the cheapest electric vehicle currently on the market, was the power behind the frying, in partnership with local chippy, The Blue Mermaid Fish Bar. It comes after a poll of 2,000 adults found fish and chips is the most popular treat on a British holiday, as well as cream tea and hot doughnuts. Others to feature in the top 20 list include Mr Whippy ice cream, Cornish pasties and mussels. Quintessentially British foods, such as fish finger sandwiches, strawberries and cream and a pie and mash also featured in the ranking. A spokesperson for car brand Dacia said: 'It was fun treating passers-by today and showing the power of our electric car, Spring, using its vehicle to load technology, which allows you to power external devices off the car's battery. 'It's no surprise we have a national day dedicated to the iconic meal that is fish and chips and the study shows just how much we love it and associate it with holidays by the seaside. 'Playing on the phrase 'cheap as chips' in line with our affordable car and being in the appropriately named Deal, was a great way to celebrate National Fish and Chip Day.' The research also found 41% of adults describe such foods as nostalgic, while 45% feel satisfied after eating them. When ordering a classic fish and chips, cod (48%) and haddock (19%) were the most popular choices, but 69% simply order a portion of chips. It also emerged 44% believe fish and chips is the 'food of the people' and 39% said class doesn't impact how people eat it. While 46% feel there is something nostalgic about eating the British staple with a wooden fork, which 33% typically do, although 38% opt to eat it by hand. Food psychologist, James Cornish, said: 'There are few things that unite the British public quite like fish and chips. 'Golden, salty, comforting, and steeped in history, this timeless dish is more than a meal - it's a national treasure. 'Loved across generations, social classes, and regions, it's one of those rare things that truly brings us together. 'There's a certain kind of magic in fish and chips - a simple meal that somehow carries the weight of memory, comfort, and delight. 'Maybe it's because we don't expect too much from humble food, but our delight is excelled through the delivering of more than we expected.'

The UK's biggest supermarket is flogging Haven multi-purpose mini BBQ pizza ovens online. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Tesco is selling a mini pizza BBQ oven for £24 down from £80 Credit: Tesco Shoppers will have to be quick though as the offer is only running until June 8. The oven, which comes with an in-built thermometer, can be placed on top of gas or charcoal BBQs to heat up any food. Tesco says it can also be used to cook meat, fish and more. Shoppers buying the Haven pizza oven will have to pay a standard delivery charge of £3. Express delivery costs £4.99. Anyone unhappy with the product can request a return or refund online up to 30 days after delivery date. Tesco is selling the summer essential cheaper than some other major retailers too. BBQ is selling the same model for £51.49, Debenhams for £55.49 and Amazon for £79.99. You can scour the internet to find out whether a retailer has the best price for a particular item using price comparison websites like Trolley, Price Spy and Price Runner. The Google Shopping/Product tab is also a quicker way of checking prices across retailers online. OTHER SUMMER BARGAINS Retailers left right and centre are offering some bargain buys that could come in useful this summer. Shopping discounts - How to make savings and find the best bargains Lidl is selling a £6 foldable backpack in stores that's ideal for flights abroad. The travel essential is available to buy from today. Sports Direct shoppers have been rushing to buy IT Luggage Soft Shell suitcase for £45 too. Retailer The Range has slashed the price of a four-litre glass dispenser from £15 to £10 as well. Other stores are also rolling out garden-ready deals, including Home Bargains. Poundland has also launched novelty garden décor from £6. How to save money at Tesco EVERY little helps when it comes to saving money at Tesco. The Sun's Head of Consumer Tara Evans explains how you can save money at the UK's biggest supermarket. Clubcard points Tesco first launched it's loyalty scheme back in 1995. You get one point for every £1 you spend in store. If you spend points in store then 100 points is worth £1. You can spend your points via its reward partners and get triple and even sometimes quadruple the value. Extend Clubcard points You can find lost Clubvcard points and find the last two years of unused vouchers by logging into the Tesco Clubcard site. Clubcard prices If you don't have a Clubcard then you will miss out on its cheaper Clubcard prices. However, don't forget to check prices before you shop because it might not be cheaper than elsewhere, especially on big value items like washing powder and loo roll. Yellow stickers Shops do vary the time they reduce groceries with yellow stickers but Tesco tends to be between 7pm and 9pm. Save money if you shop online If you get your Tesco food shop delivered then it might be worth buying a delivery saver pass to help cut the cost of delivery fees. If you live near a Tesco then you can get click and collect slots of as little as 25p, so it might be cheaper than getting your food delivered. MORE TESCO NEWS Tesco re-launched the F&F clothing brand online last month. The month before, it confirmed it would be adding The Entertainer concessions to more than 2,000 Express stores. Shoppers are able to pick up a host of value toys with prices ranging from £1.50 to £7. It comes after Tesco previously launched The Entertainer concessions at 850 Tesco supermarkets, creating 1,200 jobs. In February, Tesco also confirmed it was trialling "Your Clubcard Prices" - tailored discounts on products based on shoppers' habits. The update has been rolled out to selected shoppers but not UK-wide. Do you have a money problem that needs sorting? Morrisons shoppers fury over ‘frustrating' More card offer after item SELLS OUT
Scroll to see how the promotion works OUT OF STOCK Morrisons shoppers fury over 'frustrating' More card offer after item SELLS OUT Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) FRUSTRATED Morrisons shoppers are fuming after the supermarket encouraged customers to spend more but then ran out of promised rewards. The retail giant introduced a special offer in February offering free or discounted luxury kitchen essentials in exchange for spending certain amounts. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Morrisons shoppers have been spending to unlock rewards Credit: Getty Customers earn one More Card stamp for each £10 spent in-store. Once shoppers have earned 15 - the equivalent of spending £150 - they can unlock discounts on an array of top quality Pyrex kitchen containers. Or, once reaching 30 stamps or above, the items become free depending on the value of the Pyrex product. For example, a 2.6litre dish worth £30 is available for 50 stamps – equivalent to spending £500. Other container sizes on offer include 600ml and 1.1litre tubs. There's also a hand pump which draws air out of the containers to keep food fresher for longer. The promotion has been a hit shoppers keen to get their hands on the items in exchange for loyally shopping at Morrisons. Yet some dismayed customers who have tried to redeem their stamps have found they were unable to get the Pyrex pieces they wanted. Many are concerned they will run out of time to get hold of the items before the promotion ends on June 22. One customer on social media platform said this week: 'Will there be more stocks of the Pyrex dishes before the 22nd? I waited until I knew how many stamps I was going to get before I redeemed & now they've only got the vacuum pumps left in my local store." Another added: 'How frustrating after save for dishes in your offer (Pyrex vacuum dishes) to be told that store doesn't have any…. 'Bad planning on your part and annoying for loyal customers who are supporting you.' Shopping discounts - How to make savings and find the best bargains A third added: 'My local store in Grays has had those free Pyrex Tubs at the front of the store since you started that promotion with the stamps. 'Now it's come towards the end of the promotion & I have enough stamps to swap over for some, the store haven't got any in. 'Will they be getting some in before the promotion ends on the 22nd June? I've read a lot of stores don't have any left now which seems a real shame for everyone who has spent money with you, collecting those stamps.' A customer also wrote on the Trustpilot website: 'Disappointed with this Pyrex offer. 'Saved up the stamps to find they only have the small dishes left and no vacuum pumps… 'Defeats the purpose really and the message is don't bother spending more to get nothing.' This weekend is the last date for customers to earn stamps, they will then have a two week redemption period to redeem their stamps for their Pyrex dish of choice. Morrisons said: "The Pyrex campaign has been hugely popular with our customers. 'With just three weeks to go we are working closely with our supply chain team on a daily basis to monitor and order more stock to meet the demand." It's understood as the campaign comes to a close, Morrisons has moved large amounts of Pyrex products to the checkout areas, and increased the display space, to ensure stock is available and accessible to customers. What is Morrisons' More Card scheme? The loyalty scheme was reintroduced in 2023 and has proved popular with many shoppers. It allows customers who have saved 5,000 Points, to receive a £5 Morrisons voucher which can be redeemed on a future shop, in store or online. It can be used as a physical card or app and customers will be able to earn points on specific products and counters in store and online. That means you won't earn points on every single item. Customers can also earn five points for every litre of fuel bought in a Morrisons petrol filling station. Examples of points you would get based on purchases include: 100 More Points for every five pack of doughnuts (89p) 500 More Points for every £5 spent at the pizza counter 600 More Points for every £6 spent in a Morrisons café 100 More Points for every British BBQ meat pack from the butcher's counter Once a customer has saved 5,000 points, they will receive a "Morrisons Fiver" which can be redeemed on a future shop. Shoppers on the loyalty scheme will still be able to get exclusive prices on certain products, including Pringles, Nescafe instant coffee and Cathedral City cheese after the supermarket launched those last October. The Pyrex offer is another example of excluisve offers for loyalty members. However, last month the supermarket stopped two of its popular food offers for loyalty members. Fish Fridays and Steak Saturdays have for years given customers with More Cards 20% off fish and steak from the stores' Market Street counters. But the supermarket recently removed the offers as it says customers wanted value all week-long, not just certain days of the week. Instead it has now added 125 fish and steak products to its three for £10 offer, which is available all the time, as well as offering other deals on certain dates.
