Raj B Shetty transforms into Maveera in coastal drama ‘Karavali'
A recently unveiled poster featuring Raj B Shetty flanked by two massive buffaloes, whip in hand and mud-streaked, has ignited curiosity. Described by Ganiga as 'a soul born from the soil,' Maveera represents the cultural and emotional gravity of the region. The director recalls a long pursuit of Raj for the role. 'Once Raj saw the footage, he said yes. He didn't just play Maveera—he lived him.'
The film, tagged 'Animal vs Human,' explores the primal tension between tradition, survival, and identity. Themes of loyalty and heritage run deep, making Karavali not just a regional drama, but a story with universal resonance.
Also starring Mitra, Ramesh Indira, and Sampada, the film is backed by VK Film Association and Ganiga Films, with music by Sachin Basrur and cinematography by Abhimanyu Sadanandan. A 2025 release is expected.

Then talk about how that relationship has shaped you, helped you grow, and challenged you. Let them into your emotional journey, not just your partner's resume.' When introducing them, keep it low-stakes. A festival gathering. A casual evening. Not a high-pressure 'we need to talk.' Let your partner just be present, no grand performance. Parents learn a lot from observation–they pick up on small cues, warmth, tone, body language. The more real the interaction, the more they can connect. Raj notes, 'The way to undo that is not by pushing explanations, but by letting them experience your partner as a person. Maybe they join for a festival, maybe they help serve tea during a visit, maybe they ask your parents about their work or cooking. These small, ordinary moments build trust far more than long introductions or trying to impress.' Also, he adds, let your parents see the relationship through your lens. Uncertainty looms over Devil release after actor Darshan's arrest
'Idre Nemdi Agirbek'(You should be at peace always), the first song from Kannada actor Darshan's upcoming film, Devil, was supposed to release on Independence Day. Ironically, on Thursday, Darshan's career hit the pause button again after he was arrested in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case, following the Supreme Court order cancelling the bail granted to him and the other accused. The development puts the release of his upcoming movie Devil in limbo. The actor was arrested for the alleged murder of Renukaswamy in June 2024. After he came out of prison on bail, Darshan returned to shoot for Devil. He took part in the third shooting schedule of the movie in Udaipur, Rajasthan, in May. The 'Challenging Star' shot for the film in Europe, Mysuru, and Bengaluru. Recently, the makers of the movie announced on social media that shooting has been wrapped up. Soon after the actor's arrest, the makers announced the postponement of the release of the song 'Idre Nemdi Agirbek' .According to reports, Darshan completed dubbing for the movie, and the makers were eyeing a December 2025 release, said industry insiders. However, with the actor back in police custody, uncertainty looms over the release of the film. The film also stars Mahesh Manjrekar and Sharmiela Mandre and is directed by Prakash Veer.

'Coolie' movie review: A starry spectacle with a thin plot line
Violence, vengeance, and vigilantism mark fanboy filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj's much awaited 'Coolie'.Riding heavily on the swag, wit and mannerisms of the mass idol Rajinikanth, 'Coolie' is an ode to the star, who is celebrating his golden jubilee year in learning his friend Rajashekar is murdered, a furious Daya (Rajinikanth) takes it as his life's mission to avenge his film suffers from a sloppily written script that criss-crosses and takes numerous twists and turns to no avail. Despite its many bankable stars, the film fails to provide an engrossing and wholesome experience. 'Coolie' is collated with cameos — Telugu cinema's Nagarjuna, Kannada cinema's Upendra, a blink and miss Aamir Khan representing Bollywood, and Marathi-Hindi cinema's Mahesh Manjrekar. The young director makes sure to provide 'Coolie' a pan-Indian flamboyance..'Coolie' FDFS: From bursting crackers to full house bookings, Rajinikanth fans set the bar superstar Rajinikanth is the pivot, principle purpose and sheet anchor for the 170-minute wafer-thin plotline, Soubin Shahir charms the audience with an arresting performance as Dayal. More so with his dance moves for the song 'Monica'. Even Pooja Hegde pales before Soubin's playful gyrations. The song is the only 'whistle podu' moment for the crowds, apart from the electric presence of their Thalaiva. If you leave out the song, the much-praised Anirudh Ravichander's music comes a Soubin, Upendra steals the limelight as Kaleesha, Daya's comrade in arms (literally).With men forming the combatants in this highly combustible actioner, where every second person is felled with a bullet or machete, the ladies — Shruti Haasan and Rachita Ram — have nothing much to do. The villains just toss them around as bargaining making 'Coolie' bloody and gory, Lokesh Kanagaraj has elevated villainy and violence to its full brutal form. While Rajinikanth lives and walks through his fan-pleasing role, the others play second fiddle to elevate his charisma and screen presence.
