Yuzvendra Chahal Explains "Sugar Daddy" Message On T-Shirt, Shares Details On Alimony Talks

NDTV6 days ago
Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has remained in the news for plenty of off-the-field drama, as his personal life became a public talking point. As the news of Chahal and Dhanashree Verma seeking divorce broke, plenty was said and written about what happened behind the scenes. Ahead of the final court appearance of the duo, Chahal was spotted wearing a black t-shirt, with "Be Your Own Sugar Daddy" written on it in white. The text was interpreted as a message to Dhanashree by many. The cricketer has now confirmed that it indeed was.
Talking about the message on the t-shirt, Chahal said in a chat with Raj Shamani, " Mereko nahi karna tha drama (I didn't want to do any drama). I just wanted to give one message and maine woh de diy a (which I gave through the T-shirt)."
Chahal further said that he hadn't initially planned to wear such a t-shirt to the court hearing. But later, something happened from the 'other end' that prompted him to do so.
" Kyunki saamne se kuch cheez hua tha, aur mera pehle mann nahi tha. Fir saamne se kuch hua toh fir maine kaaha ab sambhaal lo, ab mujhe nahi parwah kisi ki. Maine na kisi ko abuse kra, bus mujhe message dena tha (Something happened from the other side, and I didn't initially intend to respond. But then something happened, and I thought, 'Enough is enough, now I don't care about anyone.' I didn't abuse anyone; I just wanted to convey my message)," he shared.
It was rumoured that Dhanashree was seeking Rs 60 crore in alimony, though the claim was denied by her family later. Chahal admitted that the negotiation process was difficult but he did manage to 'sign a good deal' in the end. "I had signed a good deal," Chahal said, but didn't delve deep into the alimony details.
Chahal and Dhanashree got married in December 2020 after meeting each other for the first time during the Covid-19 pandemic when the cricketer approached her for dance lessons. The couple's divorce was confirmed earlier this year.

Anupam Kher is unbothered by Saiyaara demolishing his film Tanvi The Great at box office: ‘Agar paisa hi sab kuch hota…'

Actor Anupam Kher's directorial Tanvi The Great released in theatres on the same day as Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's Saiyaara. While Saiyaara became a massive commercial success, raking in ₹500 crore worldwide, Anupam's film earned only ₹2.52 crore. Now, in an interview with News18, Anupam said that he's unbothered by Tanvi: The Great's box office performance, as films are about emotions and not earnings. Anupam Kher reacts to Tanvi The Great failing at box office due to Saiyaara's craze. Anupam Kher on Tanvi The Great the box office failure When asked if he thinks Saiyaara's craze led to Tanvi The Great failing at the box office, Anupam said, "I don't believe that's true. A few years down the line, when someone will ask you what are your five favourite films, you won't name the ones based on which of these movies made a business worth crores. You'll name the ones which touched your hearts. Maybe Tanvi The Great didn't mint much money, but it is still priceless." The actor further explained how money is not everything and said, "I recently met a lady outside the theatre who hugged me tightly and started crying, saying this was the best film she has ever watched. You don't value everything based only on money. Agar paisa hi sab kuch hota toh phir log hamesha five star hotel me hi khate na, dhaba koi kyu jata (If money was everything, then people would always eat at five-star hotels—why would anyone go to a roadside dhaba?). My film is outstanding commercially." About Tanvi The Great The film tells the story of Tanvi Raina, a 21‑year‑old woman on the autism spectrum, portrayed by newcomer Shubhangi Dutt. Driven by her late Army officer father's unfulfilled dream to salute the Indian flag atop the Siachen Glacier, she embarks on a determined journey to join the Army herself—despite societal and institutional hurdles. While the acting of the cast was appreciated, some critics were disappointed with the execution of the film. The film, which also featured Iain Glen, Jackie Shroff, Pallavi Joshi, Arvind Swami and Nassar in key roles, managed to collect only ₹2.52 crore at the box office. About Saiyaara Saiyaara, on the other hand, emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of 2025 and the biggest romantic film ever in Indian cinema, collecting ₹500 crore worldwide and ₹304 crore at the domestic box office. Helmed by Mohit Suri, the film marked Ahaan Panday's debut alongside Aneet Padda in the lead role.

Singer Kaushiki Chakraborty on debut as lyricist with song Baithi Hun: I didn't even know that I could write

Indian classical vocalist Kaushiki Chakraborty never imagined she would write lyrics, until composer Shantanu Moitra shared a haunting story from Kashmir. What began as a personal experiment has now evolved into a promising new creative path for the 44-year-old. Singer Kaushiki Chakraborty is currently on India-tour 'Shantanu da told me about a couple whose son went missing. He shared a tune that stayed with me. The mother's perspective haunted me until it became a ballad. When I performed it privately and then at concerts, the overwhelming response gave me confidence,' she says. Kaushiki made her lyric-writing debut with the album Pankh, penning the songs Baithi Hun and Tarana. 'Mujhe pata hi nahin tha ki mujhe likhna aata hai (I didn't even know that I could write),' she says, adding, 'This marks the first instance where something I've written has been professionally recorded. Never did I imagine that my humble writings could one day find a place alongside the works of our industry's celebrated lyricists.' She admits the shift required a mindset change: 'There was this mental block — 'I'm just a singer' — but I'm learning to explore other creative dimensions now.' With Pankh, the singer has also reimagined the classical performance format. 'Beyond writing, I've completely reimagined the classical performance format. It's now a fusion of storytelling and singing — more like an OTT narrative style, where I alternate between narration and music to connect differently with audiences.' Kaushiki had earlier composed all the songs for her 2015 album Karvaan. Her new outing, she explains, took four years to take shape. 'In this era of singles, I needed compelling reasons to create another album. The six autobiographical songs weave together life stories — childhood, mentors, relationships, motherhood — interconnected like threads. If I had to summarise my life musically, this album would be it.' About her on-going, India-tour she reflects: 'The itinerary feels cosmically aligned. Varanasi's spiritual energy and musical heritage run deep in my family. Similarly, Lucknow holds special significance in my musical journey and the way its connoisseurs have embraced me.'
