Finally Found: Missing Family's Ford Station Wagon Spotted In River 66 Years Later

A diver in Oregon believes he's finally found the Ford station wagon belonging to the Martin family, who vanished almost seven decades ago in 1958. Buried under silt and other debris at the bottom of the Columbia River, and blocked by other sunken cars, it will take time for authorities to remove the 1954 Ford Ranch Wagon and verify if it indeed belonged to the Martins.That diver, Archer Mayo, has been hunting down the Martins' station wagon in the river for seven years. When he finally found what he believes to be the right vehicle, he collected part of the tag number, as well as other identifying information from the submerged ride.
Based on that, authorities descended in the area of Cascade Locks, bringing a barge with a crane to lift the Ford station wagon out of the river. It's currently 50 feet down with at least two other cars nearby that have to be removed first.
According to reports, the Martin family was driving in the Columbia River Gorge on a Sunday while searching for Christmas 'greenery' we presume to decorate their home. A credit card transaction was the only indication to authorities of their approximate location as the father, mother, and three daughters disappeared in their Ford without a trace.
Two of the daughters' bodies were found in the Columbia River in the months after the family's disappearance, but their parents and the third daughter remained missing, adding to the mystery.
The Martins' adult son, who was serving in the Navy at the time, told the media after his family went missing that he believed they were in fact dead.
Some think the Martins accidentally drove into the river, but others have felt there was foul play involved. Perhaps the Ranch Wagon will contain evidence to help bring closure to a case that's haunted some people in Oregon for decades.

An alleged sword attacker accused of virtually decapitating a schoolboy in a drug-fuelled rampage in London has told of taking psychedelics and drinking his own urine years before amid an interest in spirituality. Marcus Arduini Monzo, 37, allegedly skinned and deboned his pet cat before launching a 20-minute spree of violence in Hainault, east London, while high on cannabis, the Old Bailey heard. He is accused of murdering 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin, mowing down pedestrian Donato Iwule with a van and attacking two police officers and a couple in their home on April 30 last year. Giving evidence on his background on Friday, Monzo told the court he experienced 'bullying and violence' while growing up in Brazil. He moved to London in 2013, where he began smoking cannabis and took magic mushrooms a few times, jurors heard. The defendant said he stopped in 2015 because cannabis made him feel 'unproductive' and 'lazy', but resumed using it years later. Following a mixed martial arts (MMA) injury in 2016, Monzo turned to yoga and developed an increasing interest in spirituality, the court was told. Asked what spirituality meant to him, he said: 'Exploring the subtle aspects of life — the magical, miraculous and supernatural.' Around 2017, he began following YouTube spiritual guru Sadhguru, which led to a year-long stay in India, jurors heard. Monzo said he was taught at a retreat to detach from family and friends. During a weekend trip, he took ayahuasca — a hallucinogenic brew traditionally used in South America. He returned to the UK 'looking skinnier', before travelling to a remote part of Brazil to consume more ayahuasca, the court heard. Monzo also said he took ayahuasca twice in the UK, describing it as having stronger effects during 'ceremonies'. He later travelled again to Brazil and India, and also attended breatharian festivals in Italy and Denmark, which promote living without food, jurors were told. On his return to the UK, Monzo said he argued with family members because he was 'not very clean'. The defendant told the court that he began drinking his own urine for 'cleaning' purposes. He added: 'I would use it to shower, on the hair, even using it on the nose.' Monzo allegedly used his Ford Transit to knock Mr Iwule into a garden, then slashed him in the neck with a samurai sword before the victim escaped, jurors were previously told. He then virtually decapitated Daniel, who was wearing headphones on his way to school, the court heard. Pc Yasmin Mechem-Whitfield chased the defendant through alleyways before he struck her three times with the sword that had a 60cm blade, prosecutors say. Monzo then allegedly entered a property and attacked a couple who were sleeping in an upstairs bedroom with their young daughter nearby. He also struck Inspector Moloy Campbell once with the sword before he was arrested. Afterwards, he likened events to the Hollywood film The Hunger Games and claimed to have an alternative personality of a 'professional assassin'. Monzo denies Daniel's murder and the attempted murders of Mr Iwule, Sindy Arias, Henry De Los Rios Polania and Ms Mechem-Whitfield, as well as wounding Mr Campbell with intent. He also denies aggravated burglary and possession of a bladed article relating to a kitchen knife. Monzo has admitted having two swords. The trial continues.

Fact Check: AI-generated image shows Trump on Epstein's jet with underage girls
Claim: A photo shared online authentically depicts U.S. President Donald Trump on an airplane with underage girls. Rating: An image being shared online in June 2025 purported to depict U.S. President Donald Trump on board an airplane surrounded by five young blonde girls. Many users sharing the alleged photograph pointed out the girls are underage, with others ruminating how their looks are reminiscent of Trump's daughter Ivanka. The image was shared widely on X (archived, archived, archived), Threads (archived), Facebook (archived) and TikTok (archived), with some of the posts (archived) further alleging that the airplane in question belonged to disgraced financier and accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein (now deceased). The image shared online purporting to show Donald Trump alongside underage girls, allegedly on Epstein's private jet, is fake. While there are authentic images of Trump alongside Epstein, plenty of false images have spread widely on the internet, including other fake photos of Trump with underage girls. The specific image in question has been shared online since at least 2023. It appeared in posts on meme websites Imgur and 9GAG in April 2023 before spreading to social media. In January 2024, Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo even apologized for sharing fake images of Trump with underage girls, including the one in question. The actor wrote, "Sorry Folks. Apparently these images are AI fakes. The fact Trump was on Epstein's plane and what Epstein was up to is not." Indeed, the photograph was generated with artificial intelligence (AI). The AI-detection tool Hive Moderation reported a 99.8% chance the image was made using AI and was thoroughly debunked when it originally circulated. While the image was debunked during its original circulation, Trump's public feud with Elon Musk, who posted on social media that Trump appeared in Epstein's files in June 2025, brought the image back to prominence and is likely to blame for the proliferation of new claims. Fact Check: Seriously, Noem didn't tell Congress Republicans voted for Jan. 6 rioters to work for ICE
Claim: U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem testified to Congress that Republicans voted to allow U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) employ participants in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. Rating: Context: The rumor appeared to have its origin in an amendment Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove proposed on April 30, 2025, during a House Judiciary Committee hearing discussing budget resolutions for fiscal year 2025. The amendment proposed that the budget "may not be used to hire any personnel who participated in the January 6, 2021, insurrection and attack on the U.S. Capitol" for a role within the Department of Homeland Security. However, the amendment failed in a vote of 15-17. U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem allegedly appeared before Congress and testified that Republicans voted to allow the employment of people who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, to be employed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to a rumor that spread on the internet in June 2025. Users shared the claim across social media platforms, where it was particularly popular on Facebook (archived, archived, archived), X (archived) and Threads (archived). The posts typically included an image of Noem on a ride along with ICE agents along with the text, "Kristi Noem, head of homeland security, admitted, UNDER OATH, that Republicans voted to allow January 6th rioters to serve in ICE roles. Including the ones who assaulted police officers during the attack." The posts also said, "Explains a lot about why ICE officers are wearing masks and refusing to show ID." The rumor spread on social media following Noem's appearances before various committees to discuss the budget of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which are discussed in further detail below. However, there was no evidence that Noem testified to Congress that Republicans voted to allow Jan. 6 rioters to be employed by ICE, and as a result we've rated the claim that she did false. Instead, the rumor appeared to have its origin in an amendment Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, D-Ill., proposed on April 30, 2025, during a House Judiciary Committee hearing discussing budget resolutions for fiscal year 2025. During the hearing, a number of Democratic representatives introduced amendments to limit the ways in which the budget would be allowed to facilitate the operation of ICE. Among the presented additions was Kamlager-Dove's amendment that proposed the approved funds "may not be used to hire any personnel who participated in the January 6, 2021, insurrection and attack on the U.S. Capitol, even if such individual was pardoned for a crime associated with their participation in such insurrection and attack." However, Kamlager-Dove's amendment failed in a 15-17 vote, with 15 votes of "aye" coming from Democrats and 17 votes of "no" coming from Republicans. Eight Republicans and four Democrats abstained from voting altogether. It's likely this vote is where the language in the claim that reads, "Republicans voted to allow January 6th rioters to serve in ICE roles" originated — though it remains false that Noem said as much during her appearances before Congress. The rumor also made its way into a letter to the editor published in the Arizona Daily Star, which read in part, "Kristi Noem told Congress that they were using Jan. 6 traitors as ICE personnel. They are criminals themselves, racist fascists. I suspected #47 was forming his own secret police. Noem is just a puppet." Snopes reached out to DHS and ICE for comment on these claims and will update this article should we receive a response. We also attempted to contact the author of the letter but were unsuccessful. In May 2025, Noem appeared at multiple hearings to address the DHS budget for fiscal year 2026. On May 8, she testified before the United States Senate Committee on Appropriations for the subcommittee hearing, "A Review of the President's Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Request for the Department of Homeland Security." The full hearing is available to view on YouTube. It includes no mention of the attack on the U.S. Capitol that occurred on Jan. 6, 2021. Then, on May 14, Noem appeared before the Homeland Security Committee for the meeting "A New Era of Homeland Security: A Review of the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Request for the Department of Homeland Security." The full hearing is available to view on YouTube. The only mention of the Capitol riots occurred around 23 minutes in, when Rep. Bennie Thompson addressed National Police Week — observed May 11 through May 17 — in honor of law enforcement officers who defended the Capitol on Jan. 6. There was no mention of any allegations that Republicans voted to allow ICE to employ Jan. 6 rioters. Finally, Noem last spoke on the DHS budget before the United States Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on May 20. Noem made headlines during the same hearing when she was unable to correctly define habeas corpus. There was one mention of Jan. 6 during the May 20 hearing, which occurred when Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., addressed alleged civil liberty violations against United States citizens, including an alleged air marshal whose "wife might've been at January 6 or something." While we cannot definitively say there are no Jan. 6 rioters currently deputized or otherwise working for ICE as of this writing, and Republicans did indeed vote down an amendment intended to prohibit funding being used to hire Jan. 6 rioters for DHS, it is false to say that Noem testified as much to Congress. - YouTube.
