The biosphere partnership has added itineraries for The Stewartry and also Carrick and Alloway to its Low Carbon Days Out series.
Two new guides aim to encourage people to explore the delights of the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere.
The biosphere partnership has added itineraries for The Stewartry and also Carrick and Alloway to its Low Carbon Days Out series, joining existing guides for Sanquhar and Wanlockhead, The Machars and Stranraer and The Rhins of Galloway.

The scheme aims to promote environmentally-friendly leisure and tourism in south west Scotland, providing ideas for adventures that can be enjoyed by bus, bike and rail.

The biosphere partnership's communications and marketing lead, Tamara Fulcher, said: 'We were absolutely delighted with the feedback from last year's launch, though it wasn't entirely a surprise; people are actively looking for opportunities to be more sustainable on holiday and in their free time and Low Carbon Days Out were created in response to that ask.
'They address the urgency of action for sustainability without being preachy or proscriptive; it's all about raising confidence in alternative ways to explore, and inspiring people to leave the car at home from time to time.
'Adding two new routes has expanded coverage of this vast UNESCO Biosphere and is a fantastic complement to our other self-guided itineraries which offer a range of themes and a choice of starting points.

Police swarm luxury estate with JD Vance reportedly making trip to Scotland

The US Vice President is said to be coming to Scotland on holiday with his family, having spent time in the Cotswolds already these last few days. Police officers were seen swarming a luxury country mansion today - ahead of a reported holiday by US Vice President JD Vance and his family. Donald Trump's deputy is in the UK with loved ones for their summer break and are said to be heading north of the border to the Carnell Estates in Crossroads, East Ayrshire. The "historic and luxurious" estate - which costs over £3,000 per night and has a 9.8 out of 10 rating on - is known for its private hospitality. Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and family stayed at the retreat in 2011, when they were in Scotland as the Fight Club star was filming World War Z in Glasgow. The Hollywood A-listers - who have since separated - stayed in the 16th century manor at Carnell, commuting to and from the estate and Glasgow by train. It's understood JD Vance and family will arrive at Prestwick Airport on Wednesday, August 13, having spent time in the Cotswolds during their trip to the UK. The Carnell Estates, which are owned by Michael Findlay and are run by him and his partner Adrienne Eastwood, have been in his family's hands since the 1300s. Described as "very much as a private house rather than an hotel", the 14th century tower and "historic and luxurious" mansion house is often used by corporate think tanks, golfers and shooting groups as well as being a wedding venue. Vance met Foreign Secretary David Lammy in Kent, and the pair engaged in carp fishing. A trip to Scotland would come just weeks after President Trump spent five days in Scotland. Police Scotland said previously officers were planning for a visit from the US Vice President during his holiday in the UK. The Daily Record has contacted the force over Tuesday's police presence at the estates.

Brilliant seaside Scottish holiday village where families can stay for half the price

Visitors can secure the getaway for just £199, slashed from the regular rate of £394.25 which includes four or six people staying in a two or three-bedroom static caravan. These feature two swimming pools - including one exclusively for adults - a fitness centre, a sauna, a steam chamber, and various on-site entertainment options. Mark Wright admits to big 'disappointment' after recent holiday with Michelle and baby Palma

Mark Wright and wife Michelle Keegan recently took a trip to Majorca with their five-month-old daughter, Palma. Mark Wright has confessed he was left annoyed after his recent holiday with wife Michelle Keegan and their baby daughter, Palma. The TOWIE star, 38, took a trip to Majorca with the Our Girl star, also 38, and their five-month-old. ‌ The family are known to be big fans of the Spanish island, which is likely to be in the inspiration behind their daughter's name, and like to get away for a break whenever they can. However, Mark revealed he was left a little miffed during their latest trip as he explained what happened to Heart FM co-host, Olly Murs, the Mirror reports. ‌ Confessing that he thought the airport staff in Spain may have reacted to Palma's name, which is the capital of Majorca, Mark said: "I thought: 'Surely there would be little smile or something'." He continued: "Well, obviously Palma is spelled like Palma. Like Palma, the place in Majorca, the city where you land. ‌ "And I was always like, whenever you land in another country and you go through passport control, they're never happy. "They never look at them smiley, it's just 'gracias', and just walk off. And I was like, surely they're going to read Palma's passport and be like, a little smile or something. ‌ 'Michelle's like, well, make sure you give that, like, her Palma's passport first and like, hold it in front of them. I do, I gave it. He just looked down at his stamps and went on, 'you go'." Explaining that it was his daughter's first time in Palma, he added: "Palma went to Palma for the first ever time we did a picture in front of the Palma signs. So it was, it was a beautiful week. I ate and drank a little bit too. ‌ "You know, I also realised as well. When I used to go on holiday with my dad and he used to have a beer at like 12 o'clock in the afternoon, I used to think, how could you want that? Like, maybe at night time when you go to the bar. What was I doing… "Everyday midday beer. I was like, I'm literally turning into my dad." Speaking about Palma, he concluded: "She's like her mum. She sleeps a lot! So we get away with, you know, tantrums on the plane, because we just give her a nap time, then she sleeps the whole flight." ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Former Coronation Street star Michelle became a mother for the first time in March this year. However, the gorgeous actress was already back showing off her swimwear brand's latest designs just weeks after giving birth. Taking to Instagram in July, she posed in a brown bikini and straw cowboy hat with fans left speechless over how she got back into shape so soon after welcoming her first child into the world.
