Justin Bieber's cryptic message to wife Hailey sparks fan theories about their 'marriage woes'
On Tuesday, the troubled pop star shared a post of Hailey in her Met Gala look with the caption: 'Tell em uncle charlie'.
The caption appeared to reference hip hop legend Charlie Wilson, whose song, There Goes My Baby, served as the background music for the post.
Hailey, 28, attended the Met Gala without her husband, 31, who instead enjoyed a night watching hockey in Los Angeles.
The post began with a snap of Hailey clad in a sexy LBD she wore to the style soiree (with her now famous martini in hand) followed by another one of her before the big event in another short dress.
While the duo have been embroiled in rumors of marital strife as of late, the post may have assuaged fears for their relationship with fans happy to see the Baby singer supporting his wife.
'We love a supportive husband,' one fan gushed.
'Just a husband praising his WIFE,' one wrote.
'One thing Justin gon do is Stan tf out of his wife. Love to see it,' another posted.
'Now this is how you convince people you love your wife, keep this up,' one wrote posted.
However there were also several cynics, with a few theorizing that Hailey had actually posted the photos herself from Justin's phone despite the duo being in separate locations.
'This girl really thinks we think Justin is posting this,' one wrote.
'I think she post it,' one wrote. 'every one knows.'
'hailey put justins phone down,' one posted.
One fiercely stood up for the couple against those skeptical Hailey was behind the post: 'And justin and hailey are not in the same place, so this is definitely him. Cry haters.'
Another accused Justin of doing the 'bare minimum' in the relationship by posting the photos.
'You can tell he's super happy and proud of her,' another posted, prompting one to reply, 'Or the complete opposite. And just trying to convince himself.'
Not only did Justin post the photos of his wife to his main grid, he also shared oodles of snaps of Hailey at the gala to his Instagram Stories, along with a recent post she shared herself and a sexy snap of Hailey prepping for the bash from her Rhode Instagram account.
Earlier Monday evening Hailey cut a somber figure as she made her return to the Met Gala without husband Justin, four years after she was heckled by fans of his ex, Selena Gomez.
She looked stoic as she hit up the red carpet solo while flashing her legs in a Saint Laurent mini blazer dress.
One said Bieber was doing the 'bare minimum' by sharing the post
The mother-of-one paired her looked with platform peep toe heels and glittering jewelry while sporting heavy contour.
The star was making her return to fashion's biggest night after a three year absence while husband Justin remained in LA and enjoyed a night of sports instead.
He shared a video showing him relaxing at home while watching playoff hockey captioned: '1 down @mapleleafs.'
There's heavy speculation that her brief absence from the Met Galas was due to the bullying she was rumored to have endured during the 2021 event.
It was rumored that Bieber was crying on the 2021 Met Gala red carpet when she attended with Justin.
The 'crying' was said to be brought on by fans heckling Bieber, chanting Selena Gomez's name at her.
In fact, Bieber was allegedly so 'upset' that she kept her sunglasses on the entire night.
Bieber, who later appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast revealed that while the chanting definitely bothered her, she wasn't exactly crying.
'I felt like I had something in my eye,' she said to Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper in an attempt to dismiss the speculation.
And as for the sunglasses, she said it was always meant to be part of her look.
Though she did note that the chanting she heard was 'disrespectful' to her and her relationship.
But Bieber said she had a mantra that helped keep her grounded: 'Another day, another negative slay,' she told Cooper.
Furthermore, swirling rumors have shrouded the state of Bieber's seven-year marriage to Hailey.
The Biebers welcomed their first child, eight-month-old son Jack Blues Bieber, last summer.
But fans have expressed concern for the couple due to their frosty public appearances.
And a source revealed to DailyMail.com earlier this year that the Rhode businesswoman's famous friends have allegedly urged her to split from Bieber.
In March, Hailey appeared to unfollow her boyfriend on Instagram, sparking a frenzy among fans.
But she took to TikTok to reveal what really happened, writing: 'It's a glitch. Didn't unfollow him. Hope this helps!'
Yet, the mother-of-one made her return to the Met Gala alone Monday as she attended the spectacular of fashion for the first time since 2021 without her husband by her side.

Chimamanda has returned to fiction after 12 years. But is the author stuck in the 2010s?
It's summer reading time, and I have finally dived into Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's Dream Count, her highly anticipated return to fiction after a 12-year hiatus. This week, I give a review of sorts – what was most striking about the work is how it feels of a certain time, and how Adichie is an icon who sits between two eras. Feminist icon to pop culture artefact? Dream Count is as much a book as it is a publishing event. In the years between her previous novel, Americanah – a book so successful that it has made the New York Times's list of the best fiction of the 21st century – and her latest offering, Adichie became a cultural figurehead. Dream Count returns to the themes that Adichie is in greatest command of: an existence that sits between living in Africa and living in the diaspora. The Covid pandemic acts as a backdrop to the lives of four female protagonists, and between them there are the roiling affairs of the heart, disappointments and assaults and bodily wreckage whose collective toll starts to be felt, or 'counted', in middle age. The central figure is modelled on Nafissatou Diallo, who was allegedly assaulted in 2011 in a hotel room by the French economist Dominique Strauss-Kahn. It is a 'gesture of returned dignity', Adichie says in her author's note. But it is also an example of how the author always leans into the sharp and jagged realities of womanhood, with no desire to smooth its edges. Adichie is, above all, a a matter-of-fact narrator of bodily ravages: bad sex, small penises, postpartum injuries, fibroids and heavy bleeding. This is my favourite quality of Adichie's. She doesn't traffic in banalities or idealisation of Black women as poetically and magically tragic or noble. They just are. In Dream Count, Adichie's style is as confident and singular as ever. Almost too much so. Her strong voice inserts itself into the mouths of her protagonists, who sometimes pronounce things that only she writes, rather than what regular people say: 'Each day with Chuka,' one character narrates, 'I encountered his otherness.' Ultimately, the reader always feels in safe hands. This novel is about intersecting female relationships in a female universe of voices and points of view, and there is something cosy and mutually affirming in that. Yet it also feels artificial (which is the writer's prerogative, after all, to construct their narrative world), as if these characters were performing some grand allegory of a woman's arc. I found myself thinking: just let them speak! Just let me embrace these women you have so tenderly portrayed. Which brings me to my main sense of the book: it felt like a series of set pieces, rather than a coherent work of fiction; an extended commentary on gender relations and societal expectations of women. I didn't feel carried along, more an audience to strong but disconnected accounts and introspections. There is something in this that may be related to the moment that transformed Adichie from a literary sensation to a pop culture behemoth. Her book-length essay We Should All Be Feminists, a landmark treatise on, well, why we should all be feminists, became a totem of a particular era of mid-00s trends. It was the time of Lean In and Girl Bosses and a broader fourth-wave feminism that revived the movement through online activism, #MeToo, and women's marches. Audio excerpts from Adichie's Ted Talk on feminism were picked up by Beyoncé and featured in her 2013 hit Flawless. Dior designed T-shirts with 'We should all be feminists' printed on them. It was a weird time. Adichie was a perfect icon for that moment: strident, smart but also glamorous – marrying liberal progressive politics on gender with accessibility. She became the face of the beauty brand No 7, was on Vanity Fair's best-dressed list, and embraced fashion and beauty as a rebuke to those who see them as somehow diminishing women's intellect. Sign up to The Long Wave Nesrine Malik and Jason Okundaye deliver your weekly dose of Black life and culture from around the world after newsletter promotion Adichie distanced herself from Beyoncé's version of feminism in particular, 'as it is the kind that … gives quite a lot of space to the necessity of men', she said. But there is an echo of that time and its ensuing discourses in Dream Count, even as she tries to transcend it. Men are not the protagonists but are still somehow centred, even if we roll to a conclusion that perhaps they are not necessary. And there are on-the-nose statements where Adichie ventriloquises through characters that tone of clapback feminism. 'Dear men,' writes one of her characters in her blog where she dispenses satirical advice to men, 'I understand that you don't like abortion, but the best way to reduce abortion is if you take responsibility for where your male bodily fluids go.' There are also jarringly cartoonish portrayals of American, or Americanised, characters opining, which I interpreted as a jab at the smugness of 'woke' progressives, a cohort I suppose Adichie would like to distance herself from. The overarching feeling was of a book that was smaller than its writer. Adichie, as a talent, remains sharp and masterly, but as a social and political commentator, she sounds stranded. Perhaps one of the dangers of being an icon is the risk of one day becoming an artefact. To receive the complete version of The Long Wave in your inbox every Wednesday, please subscribe here.

Lindsay Lohan posts makeup-free selfies after denying plastic surgery… and fans are all asking the same thing
Lindsay Lohan had her fans flooding the comments section of her social media page after posting makeup-free selfies. On Tuesday evening, the 39-year-old actress took to Instagram to share a couple of fresh-faced photos as she posed in her pajamas. In her post, the Freakier Friday star — who denied having plastic surgery — showed off her taut skin and radiant glow. In her caption, Lohan wrote to her 16.1 million followers: 'Fresh face and ready for bed!' Her social media update comes after Lohan famously said she 'never' had any plastic surgery done 'ever' earlier this year following months of ongoing fan speculation about her youthful appearance. In response to her post, the former child star had her many followers all commenting similar messages as they shared their thoughts on her wrinkle-free look. Her fans flooded her comments section with praises for her bare-faced look while others asked her to 'drop the skincare routine.' Many of her followers asked her for her secret to how she achieved such 'flawless' skin as they speculated what non-surgical skin procedures she had done to enhance her beauty. 'Drop the skincare routine queen,' one fan commented among the flood of compliments. 'Ugh perfection,' another follower wrote. 'Yes please drop the skincare routine girlie,' one comment read among many other messages with similar sentiments. Other people straight-up asked Lohan to share how she maintains her good looks. 'What is your secret?' 'Ok girl we ALL want to know your skincare routine! Like everything from lasers to botox! Girl you're glowing,' another fan praised the actress. 'We need your skincare routine queen,' one Instagram user added while another asked for her to share the products she uses to 'tighten pores and minimize oils.' 'You look AMAZING GIRL,' the fan gushed. 'Spill all the treatment secrets. The lovers and friends need to know,' one social media user commented. Another praised her for being 'so fresh looking.' 'Your skin looks amazing,' one fan commented before calling her a 'gorgeous lady.' Lohan's post and her fans raving about her fresh-faced appearance comes after the premiere of Freakier Friday. While promoting the Freaky Friday sequel, many fans theorized about how she achieved her youthful glow and beauty. The Mean Girls alum was revealed to have been getting treatments from Beverly Hills dermatologist Dr. Monika Kiripolsky. In late July, the dermatologist uploaded a selfie alongside the actress following an appointment in preparation for Lohan's red carpet appearance at the El Capitan Theatre for the Hollywood premiere of Freakier Friday. However, the dermatologist replied that 'due to patient confidentiality, I can't say what treatments I've done. 'But, EVERY patient in our practice is offered the most cutting-edge combination of lasers, peels, injectables, lipo, and other amazing treatments... Always customized to that particular patient and his/her goals.' 'Ugh perfection,' another follower wrote 'Yes please drop the skincare routine girlie,' one comment read among many other messages with similar sentiments Lohan began to appear on Kiripolsky's Instagram page last year, and the actress herself has also credited the celebrity dermatologist for her radiant skin. During an interview with Byrdie earlier this month, the star expressed, 'I'm also big on staying consistent with my routines so I feel my best. 'That includes regular visits to my Los Angeles dermatologist, Dr. Monika Kiripolsky, whenever I'm in town for work.' Lohan continued, 'She helps keep my skin healthy and glowing especially during breaks from heavy on-set makeup.' While talking to Elle back in May for a cover story, the actress addressed plastic surgery rumors after photos of the star went viral last year over her youthful transformation. The topic was brought up when Lohan revealed that she has been in the process of potentially creating her own beauty line. 'It's taking a long time because I'm very specific, because I'm crazy about my skin and health,' she explained. SNL star Chloe Fineman — who interviewed her — complimented Lohan on having the 'skin of dreams.' 'You look AMAZING GIRL,' the fan gushed 'Spill all the treatment secrets. The lovers and friends need to know,' one social media user commented Another praised her for being 'so fresh looking' 'Your skin looks amazing,' one fan commented before calling her a 'gorgeous lady' In response, the mom-of-one stated that 'everyone does Botox' before Fineman encouraged the actress to share some of her beauty secrets. 'Oh, God, I don't even know how to answer that. I drink this juice every morning. It's like carrot, ginger, lemon, olive oil, apple. I also drink a lot of green tea, a lot of water. I'm a big pickled beets person, so I put them in almost everything. 'My skin care is very specific. I'm trying out some serums now that I'm doing — I'm testing them,' she continued. 'Also, I'm a big believer in ice-cold water on your face when you wake up. I drink lemon juice a lot; I also put tons of chia seeds in my water. Eye patches, I do every morning. I'm into lasers.' In regards to her 'glow-up,' Lohan also shared the negative side to it. Her publicist chimed in to say: 'Yeah, but you know what the problem is with you being beautiful women — the second she looks any different, they assume she had her face lifted at 37 or 38, that she ripped apart this or that. It's so mean.'

Gavin Newsom is expertly trolling Fox News stars by mimicking Trump online — right down to the nicknames
Over the past week, Gavin Newsom's press office has been deliberately aping Donald Trump's over-the-top social media posting style in an obvious attempt to not only troll the president's most ardent defenders but also force them to come to grips with Trump's bullying and bombastic tone. The pitch-perfect parody, which comes as the California governor goes on the attack against Trump while clearly eying a run for president, has also resulted in a number of Fox News stars taking the bait – and seemingly making Newsom's point for him. 'DANA 'DING DONG' PERINO (NEVER HEARD OF HER UNTIL TODAY!) IS MELTING DOWN BECAUSE OF ME, GAVIN C. NEWSOM!' the governor's press office account tweeted on Tuesday. 'FOX HATES THAT I AM AMERICA'S MOST FAVORITE GOVERNOR ("RATINGS KING") SAVING AMERICA — WHILE TRUMP CAN'T EVEN CONQUER THE 'BIG' STAIRS ON AIR FORCE ONE ANYMORE!!! TRUMP HAS 'LOST HIS STEP' AND FOX IS LOSING IT BECAUSE WHEN I TYPE, AMERICA NOW WINS!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.' The all-caps screed, complete with a juvenile nickname and satirically signed 'GCN' to mimic Trump adding 'DJT' to his Truth Social posts, came after Fox News host Dana Perino groused Monday afternoon about Newsom's tweets while urging him to cut it out if he wanted to be taken seriously. 'You have to stop it with the Twitter thing,' Perino complained on The Five. 'I don't know where his wife is? If I were his wife I would say, 'You are making a fool of yourself, stop it!'' Noting that Newsom has presidential ambitions, she added: 'Do not let your staff tweet—and if you are doing it yourself, put the phone away and start over. He's got a big job as governor of California, but if he wants an even bigger job he has to be a little more serious.' Perino, however, wasn't the only one to fall into the trap set by Newsom and his social media team. Earlier this week, Tomi Lahren – a Fox News contributor who first shot to fame for her take-no-prisoners liberal-bashing monologues – objected to Newsom's press office mockingly referring to MAGA activist Scott Presler – who is openly gay – as GOP Rep. Nancy Mace. 'New lows unlocked by @GavinNewsom and his team of losers,' Lahren fumed on X, only for the governor's social team to throw back MAGA's favorite attack line back in her face. 'You sound woke,' the press office fired back. The governor's office used a similar tactic last week when Fox News host Raymond Arroyo expressed indignation that Newsom said Texas Gov. Greg Abbott — who is confined to a wheelchair — had 'rolled over' after Trump called for Texas to redraw its congressional maps. 'We asked for a statement, and Newsom's office gave us something flippant like, 'You're so woke, he'll get over it,'' Arroyo grumbled before airing the press office's comment, which read: 'No. But how woke of you to ask! I'm sorry Greg's feelings were hurt. Poor guy — we hope he recovers.' Meanwhile, Fox News anchor Trace Gallagher was also apoplectic about Newsom's new approach, which has ramped up as he's taken the fight to Trump and Republicans over their mid-decade redistricting efforts ahead of next year's midterm elections. 'I don't know what he's trying to do, but it comes across as childish and – you are the governor of the biggest state in the union – what are you doing?!' Gallagher complained on Friday night. 'BIRD-BRAIN TREY GALLAGHER (A SO-CALLED FOX 'NEWS' HOST THAT NOBODY HAS EVER HEARD OF) SAYS MY POSTS ARE 'CHILDISH' AND 'UNBECOMING' OF A LEADER — CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? MANY ARE SAYING FOX ("EDIT THE TAPES") NEWS SHOULD CANCEL HIS PATHETIC LITTLE 'BEDTIME SHOW' IMMEDIATELY,' Newsom's team tweeted in response the following day. 'THEY ARE CALLING IT THE MOST BORING PROGRAM IN CABLE HISTORY. TOTAL SNOOZE FEST! SAD!!! — GCN.' Gallgher followed suit on Monday night by criticizing Newsom's 'new Trumpian style' of posting, claiming his tweet mocking the Fox News host was an attempt to be 'clever' before calling for the governor to stop obsessing about Trump. He then went on to name-check The Mamas and the Papas and The Beverly Hillbillies while urging Newsom to pay more attention to his state than his social media activity. Perino also couldn't help herself, jumping online to double and triple down on her on-air commentary about the governor's Trump mimicry – all while seeming blissfully unaware of the point of Newsom's parody of the president. Responding to Pod Save America co-host Jon Favreau sarcastically stating that Newsom 'should take a lesson from Donald Trump on this' before asking her what she thought about the president's social media habits, Perino tweeted that 'copying isn't a good look and it isn't working' while suggesting the governor come up with original content. 'I mean, it's pretty clearly a parody of Trump's absolutely insane all caps, often non-sensical posts. Probably why all the people in my life who aren't political junkies keep reaching out to say they don't know much about Newsom but think the tweets are hilarious,' Favreau replied. 'Humor and mockery can be quite effective!' 'Cool if it works and he's your 2028 nom, I will buy you dinner,' Perino reacted. As if to hammer home the point to Perino, Newsom's office responded to Perino's comments by gleefully posting: 'ALMOST A WEEK IN AND THEY STILL DON'T GET IT.' Indeed, the governor himself hasn't exactly been coy about what his intentions are in adopting the online persona of a full-time Trumpian troll. While the social media operation – which is operated by a multi-aide staff – has generated over a billion impressions across a variety of platforms, Newsom has said outright that anyone upset with his account's online insults and trollish behavior should turn their attention towards the White House. 'I'm just following his example,' Newsom said last week. 'If you have issues with what I'm putting out, you sure as hell should have concerns with what he's putting out as president.' He continued: 'To the extent it's gotten some attention, I'm pleased, but I think the deeper question is how have we allowed the normalization of his tweets, Truth Social posts over the course of the last many years, to go without similar scrutiny and notice?' As CNN's Andrew Kirell noted in Tuesday's edition of the Reliable Sources newsletter, Newsom is essentially punking the right-wing media ecosystem right now with this tactic. 'The effort, clearly designed to hold a mirror up to MAGA and 'bully the bullies,' so to speak, has evidently gone over the heads of many conservative media personalities, baiting them into making Newsom's point about Trump's behavior on their own,' he wrote. Meanwhile, after Perino once again revisited the subject during Tuesday's broadcast of The Five by insisting that 'we get the joke' but that 'it's just not funny,' Kirell asserted that this was precisely what the governor's social media operation was meant to expose. 'I'm fascinated by how they don't seem to understand that saying 'it's just not funny' is exactly the reaction his team is aiming for,' he posted on X. 'It's the whole point.' Pointing out that Gallagher and Perino seemed 'oblivious they were criticizing a parody of Trump himself,' Mediaite's Colby Hall explained that Newsom was 'shooting fish in a barrel' at this point. 'Newsom's feed isn't Trumpian—it's an X-ray of Trumpian excess, but as if it were delivered by the king of ironically detached comedy himself, Steve Martin,' Hall stated. 'Newsom didn't just enter the arena of schoolyard retorts; he grabbed the microphone, turned it upside down, and made the absurd impossible to ignore.' While others, such as The Bulwark's Sarah Longwell, have spelled out that Newsom is making MAGA 'uncomfortable because he's holding up a mirror to what you tolerate on behalf of partisanship,' Democrats are increasingly embracing the governor's approach because it shows his willingness to fight. 'That allows Newsom to step out in front and say he is the first one to stand against Texas's actions,' The Independent's Eric Garcia wrote last week, referencing the Texas redistricting battle. 'Specifically, the Texas Democrats who decamped to blue states said they would return to Texas because California would respond in kind if Texas passed their new maps.' He concluded: '2028 is a long way off and plenty could change. Other candidates might be able to prove Newsom is a paper tiger. But then again, plenty of Republicans waited for Trump to implode and he laid waste to them.'
