Cassidy Produces Dominant Lights-to-flag Victory on Rain-soaked Sunday in Shanghai
Amid torrid conditions, Jaguar TCS Racing's Nick Cassidy converted from pole, leading every lap of the race to produce a first win of the season in the 2025 Hankook Shanghai E-Prix Round 11 at a rain-soaked Shanghai International Circuit.Cassidy topped a weather-truncated Groups-only qualifying session to seal pole and strode away into an immediate lead, where he was able to stay for the duration of Round 11 in tricky conditions as the rain continued to fall - though less heavily than throughout the morning. The win was a first lights-to-flag victory of the GEN3 Evo era and a return to the top step for the New Zealander.Reigning champion Pascal Wehrlein got the better of his teammate through the first round of ATTACK MODE activations; the German leading home António Félix da Costa despite an early slip, as TAG Heuer Porsche capitalised on a Nissan non-score to round out the podium and propel the Stuttgart marque to the top of the FIA Teams' World Championship table - a full reversal after TAG Heuer Porsche failed to score on Saturday.Jake Hughes (Maserati MSG Racing) brought it home fourth, Jean-Éric Vergne (DS PENSKE) fifth and Nico Mueller (Andretti) finished sixth. The second Maserati of Stoffel Vandoorne finished seventh despite pirouetting two laps from the chequered flag, ahead of Robin Frijns (Envision Racing), Lucas di Grassi (Lola Yamaha ABT) and NEOM McLaren's Taylor Barnard. The difficult conditions caught out a number of other drivers including Jake Dennis, Nyck de Vries, Dan Ticktum and Sam Bird with standing water significant in spots around the circuit throughout the race. Even so, 21 of the 22 cars managed to make it to the end of the race as their race craft was pushed to the limit.The result sees Rowland's lead reduce to 68 points over Pascal Wehrlein (103 points), with da Costa in third (88 points) with only five races remaining this season. China holds world's 1st humanoid robot boxing match
BEIJING, 28th May, 2025 (WAM) -- The China Media Group (CMG) World Robot Competition - Mecha Fighting Series, the first-ever humanoid robot fighting tournament, opened in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province. Contestants, including robots developed by Unitree Robotics armed with a wide range of combat skills, gathered for a livestreamed showdown, while putting on display Chinese robotics firms' tech prowess. This competition marks a historic moment as it is the world's first combat sports event centred around humanoid robots, signalling the gradual integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into combat sports, the CMG report said, noting that all humanoid battlebots are equipped with domestically developed technologies. The competition includes demonstration and competitive matches, with humanoid robots showcasing combat moves and robots controlled by humans in real-time fighting in the arena, according to the organiser. Four human operator teams controlled the robots to compete in a tournament-style series of boxing matches. China's humanoid robots are evolving at an accelerated pace, extending their reach into both industrial and household applications. According to the Chinese Institute of Electronics, China's humanoid robot market is projected to reach 870 billion yuan (US$120 billion) by 2030.

Nissan Formula E team thrills fans with victory in Tokyo E-Prix
The Nissan Formula E Team lit up Tokyo with a commanding performance at its home race, taking pole position, a podium finish, and a sensational victory in the 2024 – 2025 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship double-header. Returning to the Japanese capital for Rounds 8 and 9, the Nissan Formula E Team showcased exceptional pace and strategy. Following a rain-affected Saturday where qualifying was cancelled, Oliver Rowland started on pole and secured a second-place finish after a red flag altered the pit strategy. Sunday's race saw dry conditions and even greater success. Rowland once again qualified on pole - his third consecutive pole in Tokyo - and delivered a masterclass in racing and energy management to claim a dramatic victory after executing his Attack Mode strategy to perfection. Teammate Norman Nato qualified strongly again, reaching the Duels, but contact during the race hampered his chances, resulting in a 17th-place finish.
