Cal Raleigh connects for 31st homer for the Seattle Mariners
CHICAGO (AP) — Seattle Mariners slugger Cal Raleigh hit his major league-leading 31st homer when he went deep in the first inning of Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs.
Raleigh hammered the first pitch of his at-bat against Colin Rea — a 93.8 mph fastball — for a two-run shot on a hot afternoon at Wrigley Field. The massive drive to center had an exit velocity of 105 mph.
It was Raleigh's fourth homer of the weekend series and his fifth in his last five games. He snapped a tie for third for the most homers in franchise history before the All-Star break.

(AP) — Chase Briscoe returned to victory lane Sunday at Pocono Raceway, conserving fuel down the stretch to hold off Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin for his first win with his new race team. Briscoe raced his way into an automatic spot in NASCAR's playoffs with the win and gave the No. 19 Toyota its first victory since 2023 when Martin Truex Jr. had the ride. Briscoe lost his job at the end of last season at Stewart-Haas Racing when the team folded and he was tabbed to replace Truex in the four-car JGR field. Hamlin, who holds the track record with seven wins, appeared on the brink of reeling in Briscoe over the final, thrilling laps only to have not enough in the No. 11 Toytota to snag that eighth Pocono win. 'It was just so hard to have a guy chasing you, especially the guy that's the greatest of all time here," Briscoe said. Briscoe, who won an Xfinity Series race at Pocono in 2020, raced to his third career Cup victory and first since Darlington in 2024. Briscoe has been on bit of a hot streak, and had his fourth top-10 finish over the last six races, including a seventh-place finish in last week's ballyhooed race in Mexico City. He became the 11th driver to earn a spot in the 16-driver field with nine races left until the field is set. Hamlin finished second. Ryan Blaney, Chris Buescher and Chase Elliott completed the top five. Briscoe, a third-generation dirt racer from Indiana, gave JGR its 18th Cup victory at Pocono. 'To get here and finally deliver a win is just an awesome feeling,' he said. 'To be able to get Coach in victory lane after taking a chance on me, it's just so rewarding.' The race was delayed 2 hours, 10 minutes by rain and the conditions were muggy by the time the green flag dropped. Briscoe led 72 laps and won the second stage. Briscoe wrote before the race on social media, 'Anybody going from Pocono to Oklahoma City after the race Sunday?' The Pacers fan wasn't going to make it to Game 7 of the NBA Finals. He'll certainly settle for a ride to victory lane. Ouch There was a minor scare on pit road when AJ Allmendinger struck a tire in the carrier's hand with his right front side and sent it flying into the ribs of another team's crew member in the pit ahead of him. Jonpatrik Kealey, the rear tire changer on Shane van Gisbergen's race team, was knocked on all fours but finished work on van Gisbergen's pit stop. Brake time Bubba Wallace, Michael McDowell and Riley Herbst all had their races spoiled by brake issues. 'It was a scary feeling for sure,' Herbst said. 'I was just starting to get tight, just a bad adjustment on my part. Getting into (turn) one, the brakes just went to the floor. A brake rotor exploded and I was along for the ride.' (AP) — Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley rallied from three shots behind with four holes to play and birdied the 18th hole before a delirious home crowd Sunday for a 2-under 68 to win the Travelers Championship. The victory only strengthened the case for Bradley to bring his clubs to Bethpage Black for the September matches against Europe. He moved to No. 9 in the standings. And he wound up beating Tommy Fleetwood, who scored the clinching point for Europe at Marco Simone two years ago. One shot behind Fleetwood going to the 18th hole, Bradley stuffed his approach to just under 6 feet below the hole. Fleetwood, looking like this might be the time he wins a PGA Tour title, came up some 50 feet short and took three putts for bogey and a 72. Bradley kept his feet planted when the putt dropped and shook his fist. LPGA Tour and PGA of America FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Minjee Lee closed with a 2-over 74 but never gave up the lead in the final round of the KPMG Women's PGA Championship to win her third major title. While Lee had three bogeys in a four-hole stretch on the front nine, she had started the day with a four-stroke lead over Jeeno Thitikul. And the world's No. 2-ranked player, also in that final group, bogeyed both par 5s that are among the first three holes on Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco. With Kevin Durant in hold, Rockets' odds surge for 2026 NBA Finals
After landing Kevin Durant, the Rockets are now No. 2 among NBA teams in 2026 championship odds. Prior to the deal, Houston wasn't among the top tier of contenders, according to betting futures. The Phoenix Suns have agreed to trade superstar forward Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for Dillon Brooks, Jalen Green, the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 draft, and five second-round picks, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Sunday. Due to the inclusion of Green, the deal cannot be finalized until July, since it requires waiting until his elevated 2025-26 salary is on the books. A 6-foot-11 forward, Durant averaged 26.6 points (52.7% FG, 43.0% on 3-pointers), 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game last season, and he earned All-Star honors for the 15th time in his Hall of Fame career. The former NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) turns 37 years old in September, and his current contract runs through next season. The Rockets are coming off a 52-30 season and a No. 2 finish in the Western Conference, and their hope is that the addition of Durant will launch them into title contention next season. So, how much will that acquisition mean? According to ESPN BET, the Rockets surged from +1800 in 2025-26 championship odds prior to Sunday's trade to +850 after it. That +850 is second in the entire league, trailing only Oklahoma City. The Thunder, of course, had the league's best record (68-14) in 2024-25 and won the West. Prior to the deal, Houston ranked between No. 7 and No. 9 in 2026 NBA Finals championship odds, depending on the betting service. So, as far as the betting community views things, this deal was extremely significant to the Rockets and their short-term chances.
