Chandrababu Naidu congratulates flight trial of DRDOs drone-launched missile
Amaravati, Jul 25 (PTI) Congratulating the scientists and innovators for DRDO successfully carrying out a flight trial of a drone-launched missile in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said the state is proud to contribute to India's growth and defence ecosystem.
Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully carried out the flight trials of UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) Launched Precision Guided Missile (ULPGM) – V3 at the National Open Area Range (NOAR) in Kurnool.
Hailing this feat in a post on X, Naidu said, 'Andhra Pradesh is proud to contribute to the growth of our nation's defence ecosystem! Congratulations to our scientists and innovators on the successful flight trials of the UAV-Launched Precision Guided Missile (ULPGM-V3) at the National Open Area Range (NOAR) in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh".
The Chief Minister called this a significant step forward in strengthening India's defence capabilities.

Philippines President Marcos To Visit India From August 4–8, Hold Bilateral Talks With PM Modi
India and the Philippines also maintain close engagement at the regional level, notably through India's Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with ASEAN. Philippines President Bongbong Marcos is set to visit India from August 4 to August 8, said an official statement from the Ministry of External Affairs. His visit comes following an invitation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will be accompanied by First Lady Madame Louise Araneta Marcos and a high-level delegation comprising several Cabinet Ministers, senior officials, dignitaries, and business representatives. President Marcos is also scheduled to visit Bengaluru before concluding his trip and returning to the Philippines on August 8, 2025. During his visit, Prime Minister and President Marcos are scheduled to hold bilateral discussions on August 5, 2025. President Marcos will also be meeting President Droupadi Murmu. External Affairs Minister, Dr S Jaishankar is also scheduled to call on President Marcos during this visit. Diplomatic relations between India and the Republic of the Philippines were established in November 1949. Over the past seven and a half decades, the two countries have nurtured a strong and multi-faceted partnership encompassing a broad range of areas, including trade and investment, defence and security, maritime cooperation, agriculture, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and digital technologies. India and the Philippines also maintain close engagement at the regional level, notably through India's Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with ASEAN. India's relations with the Philippines form an important pillar of India's 'Act East' Policy, Vision MAHASAGAR, and its broader vision for a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific. President Marcos is also scheduled to visit Bengaluru before concluding his visit and returning to the Philippines on 8 August 2025, according to the press release. Trump tariff on Indian goods will hike essential drugs costs in US: Pharmexcil
New Delhi, Jul 31 (PTI) Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) on Thursday said President Donald Trump's imposition of a 25 per cent tariff plus unspecified penalty on all goods coming from India starting August 1, will result in increased costs for essential drugs in the US, ultimately harming consumers and healthcare systems in the country in the long term. The US market, heavily reliant on India for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and low-cost generics, faces a daunting challenge in finding alternative sources that can match the scale, quality, and affordability that India offers, Pharmexcil Chairman Namit Joshi said in a statement. President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced the imposition of a 25 per cent tariff on all goods coming from India starting August 1, plus an unspecified penalty for buying Russian crude oil and military equipment. Reacting to the development, Joshi said India has long been a cornerstone of the global supply chain for affordable, high-quality medicines, particularly in the generic drug market, where it supplies nearly 47 per cent of the pharmaceutical needs of the US. 'Indian pharmaceutical companies play a vital role in ensuring the affordability and availability of essential medications, including life-saving oncology drugs, antibiotics, and chronic disease treatments," he asserted. Joshi further said, 'Any disruption to this supply chain will inevitably lead to shortages and escalating prices, ultimately harming US consumers and healthcare systems." While the immediate consequences of these tariffs will likely result in increased costs for essential drugs, he said, 'The long-term impact will be even more severe. The US market, heavily reliant on India for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and low-cost generics, faces a daunting challenge in finding alternative sources that can match the scale, quality, and affordability that India offers." Moreover, he said, 'Efforts to transition pharmaceutical manufacturing and API production to other countries or domestic sources in the US are projected to take several years, at a minimum of 3-5 years, before meaningful capacity can be established." Joshi said Pharmexcil remained committed to advocating for the interests of Indian pharmaceutical exporters and the global healthcare community. 'We continue to engage with policymakers to emphasise the importance of affordable access to medicines and the indispensable role Indian pharmaceutical companies play in meeting the growing global demand for essential drugs," he noted.
