VP Dhankhar to inaugurate National Conference of Vice Chancellors in Noida on Monday

Noida, Jun 22 (PTI) Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will inaugurate the National Conference of Vice Chancellors to celebrate 100 years of establishment of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) at Amity University in Noida on Monday.
Talking to PTI, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor Amity University, UP, said, 'Inaugural session of the conference will be graced by Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar, on Monday, at Amity University, Noida along with Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Education Group.' She added that the Vice President will unveil a commemorative Coffee Table Book depicting 100 years of excellence of AIU in higher education.
'Anandiben Patel, Governor of Uttar Pradesh will be the Chief Guest during Valedictory Session on Tuesday,' she added.
Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak, President, Association of Indian Universities (AIU), shared, 'The Conference will be attended by around 300 vice chancellors from all over India in person, and about 200 vice chancellors will attend the conference through virtual mode.' 'The conference will also be attended by officials from various Government of India ministries, and representatives from apex bodies such as AICTE, NAAC, NDSC, ICAR, among others, as speakers,' he added.
Pathak added that the conference will focus on the main outcomes which will lead to the declaration of a comprehensive action plan for the transformation of higher education in India and by bringing a policy paper on 'Future of Higher Education'. PTI COR NB

Speaking at the launch of senior BJP leader Ram Madhav's book — 'New World: 21st Century Global Order in India' — in Delhi on Monday, Dhankhar also asserted that India's rise is benign as it has never engaged in expansionism. 'Evolution of policies must take place now with a little more representative character. India's think tanks, they are available in various formats, different political parties. It is required that there be convergence…the political temperature has to come down. There has to be greater dialogue amongst political parties. I firmly believe we have no enemies in the country. We have enemies outside… enemies within, a small fraction, are rooted to outside forces inimical to Bharat,' he said. Lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, Dhankhar said the road to the country's rise requires careful treading. 'There are forces that are determined to make our life difficult. There are forces within the country and outside. These sinister forces, pernicious to our interests, want to strike by dividing us on issues like language,' he said, adding that India can take pride in its language richness and that even MPs can express themselves in 22 languages inside Parliament. He pointed out that India has always stood for global peace and harmony and never engaged at any time in its history in expansionism. 'The contemporary global scenario today is alarmingly concerning and also equally worrisome, particularly for peace-loving nations like Bharat…As Bharat achieves universal well-being for all citizens, we become a role model for others,' he said. Referring to V D Savarkar as a 'celebrated thinker who stood at the wee hours of the post-war order', Dhankhar said the ideologue was prophetic. 'Savarkar, a staunch realist, believed in a post-war world where nations would act only in pursuit of their own interests not based on idealism, morality or international solidarity. Imagine how prophetic he has been. Look around last fortnight, last three months. All this has been seen by all of us. He rejected pacifist or utopian internationalism and emphasised that India must safeguard its sovereignty through strength, not by relying on Western-dominated institutions like the League of Nations or later the United Nations, both ignoring due place to one-sixth of humanity,' he said. The VP also said the Modi government has been 'steadfast, firm, non-negotiable, and notwithstanding the critics — it is spinally strong.' According to him, 'the nation has never ever projected its stand so firmly'. Senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Manish Tewari, former foreign secretary Shyam Saran and former Union minister Suresh Prabhu also spoke at the event.

E-way diversions for VP & governor visit to Noida
Noida: Traffic movement was briefly halted on the Noida Expressway to facilitate vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar's visit to Amity University. The vice president entered the city via the DND flyway and the expressway around 11am and returned a little after noon. Traffic movement was restricted at the flyway and expressway both times for around 10-15 minutes. The vice president was visiting Amity University to inaugurate the Association of Indian Universities' Annual Meet & National Conference of Vice Chancellors. "The traffic movement resumed once the cavalcade passed," said DCP (traffic) Lakhan Singh Yadav. Police teams were deployed along the route to block the entry of traffic from the sector's internal road to DND and the expressway during the VIP movement. Meanwhile, state governor Anandiben Patel visited A P J Abdul Kalam University's Noida campus in Sector 62 to attend a programme at 10am on Monday. Traffic police placed restrictions in Sector 62, which led to snarls there. Later, the governor took Noida elevated road and Noida Expressway to attend another programme there. For this, traffic police had to stop traffic movement yet again near the Film City area. A long queue could be seen on the road extending till the Chilla border.
