Union chief in second home hypocrisy row
Well, well, well. The general secretary of the Scottish Trades Union Congress has found herself at the centre of a rather embarrassing scandal. It transpires that Roz Foyer – who has repeatedly blasted second home ownership – owns a total of, er, five homes, including a flat in Spain as well as a £100,000 plot of land. Talk about hypocrisy, eh?
As revealed by the Mail on Sunday, Foyer – who earns up to six figures a year – lives in a £280,000 four-bedroom home in north-west Glasgow. On top of this, however, she has a £240,000 flat in Edinburgh, a £145,000 terraced house in Glasgow, a £125,000 Spanish flat that she rents out for a staggering £1,000 a week and a £150,000 holiday cottage on the Isle of Jura. More than that, just three months ago Foyer purchased a plot of unused land for £100,000. Alright for some!
The revelations may be a little painful for Foyer, who has publicly slammed second home owners for worsening the housing and cost-of-living crisis.

He joined from Porto in January 2022 and scored 17 goals this season. Barcelona are a particularly enticing prospect for South American players and several players such as Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho, and Xavier Mascherano have moved from Anfield. Diaz scored 17 goals and provided eight assists in 50 appearances as Liverpool won their second ever Premier League title last month. Meanwhile, his partner Gera Ponce posted an emotional message on Instagram which some fans had taken as a farewell message. On the other hand, it could just be interpreted as them insisting on their love for the club. 'From the first day we arrived, we felt first hand what it means to be a part of this club,' she wrote. 'We knew the slogan was "You'll Never Walk Alone", but to hear them sing it with so much passion, support us every moment and show such unconditional love... confirmed to us that here you never walk alone. For me, I would stay however many years it takes, it also depends on the club, everything. 'These are details that are sorted out separately. Very calm, I'm happy and enjoying the Premier League.'

The Colombia international has been a target for the LaLiga champions for some time, although he has also been attracting interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr. The arrival of Florian Wirtz, with discussions ongoing with Bayer Leverkusen over the transfer fee after a recent £109million bid was rejected, will likely offset the impact of that – especially as Nunez and Chiesa contributed just nine goals between them. But it is understood potentially losing a third member of the attack would only be sanctioned if there was a bid which allows Liverpool to significantly improve the team or if the player agitated for a move. Last month Diaz told American-Spanish television channel Telemundo: 'For me, I'd stay however many years it takes.' Liverpool have already recruited Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen to strengthen their right side following the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold and are looking to bolster the left with a move for Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez. The Cherries value the 21-year-old Hungary international, who is keen on a move to Anfield, at £45m but Liverpool's sporting director Richard Hughes is currently negotiating with his former club over the fee. But it's an amazing £900,000 for winning the Derby - and the potential in stud fees as a result is practically unlimited. As an example, former Derby winner Galileo was rumoured to charge £600,000 a cover at stud before he died. So while the likes of Aidan O'Brien's Delacroix and Charlie Appleby's Ruling Court head the market, if you fancy one at a price keep looking further and further down the racecard. All the way to 150-1, where you find Al Wasl Storm. History shows he is bound to outrun his odds.
