Bengal Man Kills Parents, Stabs 4 People At Orphanage. Arrested: Cops

A man allegedly murdered his parents in West Bengal's Purba Bardhaman district and hours later stabbed four people at an orphanage run by a madrasa in another district, over 120 km away, a senior police officer said on Thursday.
The accused was arrested soon after the violent attack at Sharif Orphanage in Bongaon in North 24 Parganas on Wednesday, where he stabbed two teachers and two staff members.
Soon after his arrest, a mob rushed in the Bongaon police station demanding that the accused, identified as Humayun Kabir, an alumnus of a prominent state university and former engineer at an MNC, be handed over to them.
Two police personnel - a constable and an assistant sub-inspector - were injured in the mob attack, North 24 Parganas SP Dinesh Kumar said.
Bodies of Kabir's parents Musfatizur Rahman and Mumtaj Parveen were found in a pool of blood on the road in front of their Memari residence with multiple stab injuries.
Kabir, who worked with a Gurgaon-based MNC but quit the job, was staying with his parents.
After being taken into custody, Kabir disclosed his identity and address, revealing his connection to the double murder in Memari.
SP Kumar said there is a strong possibility that he had murdered his parents.
He was being interrogated, but had yet to confess to the crime of murder, he said.
A senior police officer in Purba Bardhaman said locals had claimed Kabir was suffering from mental health issues following a divorce and the loss of his job.
"We are exploring all possible angles to determine the motive behind both the killings and the stabbing spree," the officer said.
Ten people have been arrested for rioting and attacking police officers. Additional raids are ongoing in the area, the SP said.
Kabir's sister Tamanna Rahman, teacher of a madrasa in Howrah district, had lodged a complaint against unnamed persons about the discovery of blood-stained bodies of her parents.
She, however, refused to speak about the developments in Bongaon.

Kolkata: In a bizarre turn of events, a Salt Lake-based entrepreneur, who lodged a complaint against her live-in partner for allegedly abusing her minor daughter leading to his arrest under Pocso charges, pleaded for his bail in Calcutta High Court on Tuesday because her "child misses her father (the live-in partner)". The woman told the HC that while her partner "is dying in prison", she was "dying outside". Jaipur/Jaisalmer: A Jaipur court on Tuesday sent Shakur Khan, an assistant administrative officer in the employment department in Jaisalmer, to seven days' police remand after intelligence agencies arrested him for allegedly spying for Pakistan. Khan was picked up from his Mangliyon Ki Dhani village on May 28 and formally arrested on Monday evening following multiple rounds of interrogation at the Intelligence Bureau headquarters in Jaipur. According to the prosecution, WhatsApp chats, frequent communication with Pakistan-based individuals, and multiple unauthorised visits to the country without informing the department pointed to his involvement in espionage. Khan, who has been booked under Official Secrets Act, 1923, was produced before a local court in Jaipur. Prosecution officer Sudesh Kumar Sattawan said: "We sought 10-day remand, arguing that he made unauthorised visits to Pakistan and there was evidence of his contact with ISI. Further interrogation is needed to gather more evidence and uncover any spy network he may have been linked to within India." Nagpur Police Seize 108 kg Ganja After High-Speed Chase
Nagpur: In a major crackdown on , Kalamna police intercepted a vehicle after a dramatic chase and seized 108 kg of ganja (marijuana) on Tuesday evening. When a suspected vehicle was asked to stop, the driver attempted to flee. However, Kalamna police gave chase and managed to apprehend both the driver and the Nagpur-based receiver.
