Panna police solve milk trader's murder; black magic suspicion led to killing
The victim, Santosh Sharma, had gone missing on May 31 while heading out to deliver milk. His body was found on June 4 buried in two separate pits, with the torso in one and the head in another, about 100 meters apart.
According to police, Santosh was murdered by his neighbour Ramcharan Gond, along with his sons-in-law Jitendra and Ajay Gond, and a 14-year-old boy. The accused believed Santosh had performed black magic that caused long-term illness in Ramcharan's wife and others in the family.
An exorcist had allegedly pointed toward someone in the locality.
The accused tracked Santosh's movements for four days and executed the murder on May 31. As Santosh left his house on a bicycle, the boy struck him with an iron rod. The others then strangled him with a towel. The body was carried on a bike to Chhatarpur with plans to dump it in a forest. But as they ran out of fuel, they buried the body in a field, cutting it into two parts to avoid identification.

Dealer fined for selling defective cellphone
Dharwad: The Dharwad District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission has rapped a cellphone manufactuing company for selling a defective handset to a customer. Neeta, a resident of Karwar Road in Hubballi, had purchased a Samsung cellphone for Rs 20,300 from the authorised Samsung dealer Sri Tirumala Tele World, Hubballi. Within 2-3 days of purchase, the gadget started developing problems such as hanging and display issues. Neeta told the dealer about the issue and sought a replacement. However, the dealer refused, even though the customer had not used it further, and had kept it with her in the same condition. With no other option left, Neeta sent a legal notice. But even then, the dealer allegedly ignored her grievance. Stating that such conduct amounted to deficiency in service under the Consumer Protection Act, Neeta filed a case before the District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission. After a detailed inquiry, the commission headed by retired judge Ishappa Bhute and member Vishalakshi Bolashetti observed that documentary evidence clearly showed the phone had developed hanging and display defects within 2-3 days of purchase, which amounted to a manufacturing defect. The commission further noted the complainant had purchased the mobile for Rs 20,300 for her daily use and convenience, but it became non-functional within just 2-3 days, and the opposite party neither repaired it nor replaced it. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 20 Highest Paying Degrees For 2025 Best Paying Degrees | Search Ads Learn More Undo This amounted to deficiency in service under the Consumer Protection Act. In retaliatory fire, he sustained a gunshot injury," Kumar said. A country-made pistol, cartridges, and the motorcycle were recovered from his possession. During interrogation, it was found that the two met through social media around a year ago. "They were in a relationship, but over the past few weeks, he doubted her loyalty and suspected her of talking to other men as well. The woman was a divorcee and got married around six years ago before separation last year. Then she met Rehan on Instagram and got into a relationship. Both of them used to frequently visit each other's house, and the family knew about it," Station officer Jarcha police station Sumnesh Kumar said. On Saturday morning, the accused called her towards Dadri to meet and clear up things, but they got involved in a heated argument again. "After which the accused took her to a nearby canal and strangled her with her dupatta before fleeing the place," the officer said, adding that the accused worked as a labourer. Sources in the police also revealed that whenever the accused tried to leave the woman, citing her involvement with other men, she would threaten him as well. "There were talks between the two over marriage, but after knowing her involvement with others, the accused wanted to leave her and end things, but the woman was pressuring him," another officer told TOI.
