F1 to hold two Saturday races in 2025 as Baku date shifts, Las Vegas remains night event
Formula One and the governing FIA said the change of date for the race in Baku had been made at the request of the promoter and government stakeholders.
Originally scheduled for September 27 next year, it will now be held on the 26th with each day of the event also moving forward.
That will mean Formula One having two Saturday races on next year's 24-round calendar, with the Las Vegas night grand prix scheduled for November 21.
Formula One is entering a new engine era next season with major technical changes and the new cars will hit the track earlier than usual, with teams having three pre-season tests to shake out any gremlins.
The first on January 26-30 will be a private one at the Circuit de Catalunya.
The second and third, with the usual access for media, will be in Bahrain between February 11-13 and 18-20. The season starts in Australia on March 8. — Reuters

Barcelona's Ansu Fati aims to kick-start career in Monaco
BARCELONA have loaned Spanish forward Ansu Fati to Monaco for a season with an option to buy, the Ligue 1 club confirmed on Tuesday. Fati becomes Monaco's third summer signing, following England international defender Eric Dier and 2018 French World Cup winner Paul Pogba, both of whom arrived on free transfers. The three players will be officially presented to the press on Thursday. The 22-year-old Fati completed his medical with Barcelona agreeing a season-long loan with option to buy for 11 million euros ($13 million). According to a source close to the clubs, Barcelona will cover a significant portion of Fati's salary. However, the Spanish club will receive a significant profit on any potential resale. Born in Guinea Bissau, Fati made his professional debut with Barcelona at the age of 16. He played 123 matches for the club, scoring 29 goals, and won Spanish league titles in 2023 and 2025 and two Spanish Cup trophies. A Spanish international with 11 caps and two goals he played in the 2022 World Cup and was on the winning 2023 Nations League team. After a very complicated season hampered by numerous injury-related absences, with only 11 matches played and no goals scored, Fati will now attempt to relaunch his career in the Principality. He failed to excel during a loan spell in 2023-2024 at Brighton in the Premier League, with four goals in 27 matches in all competitions.

Rugby-Kellaway, Toole released from Australia squad for Fiji test
FILE PHOTO: Rugby Union - Autumn Internationals - England v Australia - Allianz Stadium Twickenham, London, Britain - November 9, 2024 Australia's Andrew Kellaway celebrates scoring their fourth try Action Images via Reuters/Andrew Boyers/File Photo MELBOURNE (Reuters) -Wingers Andrew Kellaway and Corey Toole were released from the Australia squad on Tuesday as Joe Schmidt's preferred team to face the British & Irish Lions moved into clearer focus. Kellaway will return to his New South Wales Waratahs squad for their tour match against the Lions in Sydney on Saturday, ruling him out of selection for the Wallabies' game against Fiji on Sunday. Uncapped at test level, Toole will also miss out on the Fiji test, the Wallabies' last warmup before the July 19 series-opener against the Lions in Brisbane, to join his ACT Brumbies squad ahead of their tour match against the Lions next week. Waratahs backs Joseph Suaalii and Max Jorgensen have been retained in Schmidt's squad for Fiji, with the former capable of playing in the centres and both giving Schmidt options at fullback and on the wings. Schmidt also has the Western Force duo of Harry Potter and Dylan Pietsch as wing options in his squad along with Queensland Reds speedster Filipo Daugunu. Kellaway's release follows prop Taniela Tupou's return to the Waratahs on Monday. Andy Farrell's Lions will familiarise themselves with the first test venue of the Wallabies series when they meet the Queensland Reds at Lang Park on Wednesday. The Lions thrashed Western Force 54-7 in Perth in their first tour match in Australia last Saturday but Farrell expects a tougher test against the Reds, who are coached by future Wallabies boss Les Kiss. "Les has done a fantastic job with them to play a great brand of rugby and are able to play in many different ways," Farrell told reporters. "So this will be 100% a big step up for us on Wednesday night. Any side that Les coaches, he's always going to be very well prepared." Cadillac team have 'limitless ambition' and plenty of money
SILVERSTONE, England: Cadillac principal Graeme Lowdon says Formula One's newest team have limitless ambition, and plenty of funds, but every expectation of being last when they debut next season. The General Motors brand secured approval in March, after a 764-day entry process, to become the sport's 11th team and are racing against time to be ready. Testing starts in Barcelona on January 26, with free practice for the 2026 season-opener in Melbourne on March 6. No drivers are signed yet, despite regular reports of familiar names set to join and the usual suspects in the frame, but the focus is on more fundamental issues. A recent tour of the team's Silverstone facility revealed a quiet sense of purpose, and the deep pockets behind the operation. "You will not see this team over-promising in any way," Lowdon told reporters. "But we do want to convey the fact that the ambitions are really limitless, as they should be." The team are also backed by TWG Global, whose CEO Mark Walter has an estimated net worth of $12.5 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Walter's ownership interests include MLB's Los Angeles Dodgers, Premier League soccer side Chelsea and a soon to be acquired majority stake in the Los Angeles Lakers NBA basketball franchise. LONG ROAD Despite that, there is a long road ahead for a team that will start with Ferrari engines but plan to make their own eventually. Lowdon, whose US-owned rivals Haas are in their 10th season, said he presents the situation to shareholders with a question: "Can you imagine if you've owned a Formula One team for 10 years and then another team rocks up and beats you? You would be apoplectic. "You have to assume that any new team coming in is going to be last. Otherwise, what's gone wrong somewhere else? ... We're trying to be as competitive as we possibly can but We're realistic. We know how difficult it is. "We're happy with our progress, but we just don't know. Other than if we beat someone then someone's going to be angry." Cadillac reckon on having 600 people by next season, many recruited from rival teams, and say they are already two thirds of the way there and no longer even the smallest outfit. Although approval came only in March, preparations started long before. Wind tunnel work has been ongoing since the middle of last year and the first car floor was delivered in January. Roll hoop testing took place in May and a prototype steering wheel was also ready by then. "We've already issued somewhere in the region of 6,000 drawings. We've made 10,000 components already while we've been kind of quiet," said Lowdon. "If you just wait until you get the entry and then start doing everything that we've been doing, you time out. It becomes an impossible task." Cadillac have sites on two continents – a headquarters under construction in Indianapolis, manufacturing facilities in North Carolina and Michigan and a design and logistics base at Silverstone. Lowdon, a previous CEO of the defunct Virgin and Marussia teams, said a different management approach was needed and he had "leaned heavily" on the structure used by the U.S. space programme in the 1960s and 70s. "We need an engineer here (in Britain) talking to an engineer in Charlotte and another one in Warren, Michigan, or eventually in Fishers (Indiana). So we've looked to have a very, very flat management structure," he said.
