The backstory
At about 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, HISD officers at Wisdom High School responded to a "shots fired" call.
HISD Police Chief Shamara Garner says the students were dismissed from school at about 4:30 p.m., so about 150 students were still in the area. Police directed the students back into the building, and they went into lockdown.
According to Chief Garner, a black four-door Tahoe was following two brothers who were walking east on Beverly Hill Street. The Tahoe was parked in the school parking lot, then exited and started to slowly drive behind the brothers.
When the brothers reached the intersection at Unity Drive, police say a suspect got out of the vehicle and shot at the brothers.
One of the brothers, who is not a student at the school, ran from the scene. The other brother, a 16-year-old sophomore, ran back toward the school, but was grazed on his knee in the shooting.
A bystander, an 18-year-old junior, was shot in her shoulder.
Both students are expected to recover.

Sheriff SUV deal: $52K deal amid budget crises
ST. LOUIS – While threatening to cut essential services, the Sheriff's Office made a deal for a luxury buy in silence. It's a brand-new Chevy Tahoe the St. Louis Sheriff's Office has avoided talking about. FOX 2 found it parked in the city lot on Laclede after obtaining the Sheriff's Office buyer's order saying it costs $52,773. This discovery comes after Sheriff Alfred Montgomery had threatened to stop transporting inmates to the hospital because of money problems. On Monday, Alderwoman Daniela Valazquez told the Sheriff, 'We're in a budget hearing because your department doesn't have enough money to–you're in the red.' Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Subscribe Now The Sheriff often blamed the media, at one point saying, 'We can't go by news sources. Their job is entertainment.' Alderman Michael Browning answered, 'I would argue the media's job is to inform.' Aldermen questioned the Sheriff's expenditures at the budget meeting, but they did not know at the time about the Tahoe. FOX 2 has found out the possible reasons for that. We've confirmed it was not obtained through traditional means. We've learned it never went before the capital committee to be approved as an expenditure, and we've also confirmed the Comptroller's Office has not signed off on the agreement to buy it. FOX 2 asked the Sheriff's Office about this vehicle more than a week ago when we first got the tip about it. We also made a Missouri Sunshine request for the documentation, and the office said it would answer Tuesday morning, which turned into Tuesday afternoon, but with no answer. Thursday afternoon, the office texted a statement that said in part that their '…fleet is currently eight vehicles short of its allocated need to perform basic responsibilities…' adding quote '…discretionary funds (are) established for the office under Missouri Law…' FOX 2 also learned the vehicle has yet to be paid for, while the purchase contract is dated January 25—which means that as aldermen were pressing the Sheriff for answers about expenditures—the pricey vehicle was parked in the city lot without budget leaders knowing anything about it. CSP: Fatal Highway 115 motorcycle crash was a head-on collision
(FREMONT COUNTY, Colo.) — The fatal crash on Colorado Highway 115 near Florence on Sunday, June 1, was caused when a motorcyclist was unable to navigate a curve and went over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic, hitting two vehicles, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP). RELATED STORY: UPDATE: CO-115 reopened near Florence after fatal crash CSP reported that on Sunday, around noon, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle with one person riding was driving eastbound on Hwy 115. As the motorcycle was entering a right curve in the road near Brewster Lane, west of Florence, it crossed over the double-yellow line and into the oncoming traffic. According to CSP, the motorcycle side-swiped a Chevrolet Tahoe that was driving in the westbound lane, then hit a Jeep Grand Cherokee that was driving behind the Tahoe head-on, causing the Tahoe to spin out and the motorcyclist to be thrown from the bike, which slid into the eastbound lane. The Jeep hit the motorcyclist before coming to a stop. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene, and the Fremont County Coroner will release their identity at a later time, according to CSP. Neither the driver of the Tahoe, a 49-year-old man from Florence, nor the driver of the Jeep, a 36-year-old woman from Penrose, had injuries. The cause of the crash is being investigated.
