Dolphins Trade Idea Sends Jalen Ramsey to Packers Amid Jaire Alexander Release
The Miami Dolphins are looking to trade All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey. There will likely be plenty of suitors, but a new team has likely just entered the fray.

For this trade idea, the Dolphins would send Ramsey to the Green Bay Packers for Romeo Doubs and a fifth-round pick in 2026. The Packers have an opening at their cornerback position, and the Dolphins, with some uncertainty surrounding Tyreek Hill, could use another wide receiver to bolster their offense.
With the Green Bay Packers set to release cornerback Jaire Alexander, according to Ian Rapoport, a spot in the Packers' defense becomes wide open. Ramsey, a better and cheaper cornerback, is a clear fit for the Packers' defense, now in need of a starting cornerback.
After Alexander's release, the door to a potential Ramsey deal swung wide open. Ramsey is 30 years old and entering his 10th season in the NFL. Alexander, on the other hand, is 28 and heading into his eighth NFL season.

The Packers would add a slightly older cornerback, but one with a much more storied NFL career. Ramsey is a three-time All-Pro and a seven-time Pro Bowler. He also won the Super Bowl with the Rams in 2021 and has 24 career interceptions.
Alexander, meanwhile, has been to just two Pro Bowls and hasn't won an All-Pro. He has 12 career interceptions, but hasn't played in a full season since 2022. The Packers would be getting a significant upgrade at cornerback, and it wouldn't cost much more either.

Ramsey signed a three-year extension worth $72.1 million ahead of the 2024 season opener. Signed through 2028, Ramsey has two more years of control over Alexander, while being cheaper than Alexander in 2025.

Ramsey has cap hits of $16.6 million, $25 million in 2026, $26 million in 2027, and $36 million in 2028. Alexander had cap hits of $24.6 million in 2025 and $27 million in 2026. The Packers would be getting a better, and slightly cheaper, cornerback after their release of Alexander.
This trade idea also adds Doubs to the Dolphins' wide receiver room. While the Dolphins don't have a pressing need at wide receiver, they could use depth at the position, especially if Hill is traded.
Overall, this trade idea solves the Packers' cornerback issues while resolving the ongoing trade saga surrounding Ramsey and the Dolphins. Miami would net a fifth-round pick, and Doubs, who would provide solid depth at the wide receiver position for Miami.

Dolphins stock report: Fins bounce back in second joint practice vs. Lions
The Miami Dolphins could've have folded on Thursday. Defensive tackle Zach Sieler didn't dress. The same goes for receiver Tyreek Hill, edge rusher Jaelan Phillips and fullback Alec Ingold. Based off of the injury report alone, it appeared that the Dolphins could be in for back-to-back drubbings – even if edge rusher Chop Robinson returned. They did not. Already undermanned and against the reigning NFC No. 1 seed Detroit Lions, the Dolphins showcased better execution on offense and got stingy on defense when it matter most: the situational period at the end of practice. Much like Wednesday's dismal performance, observers shouldn't overreact. Joint practices, more than anything, aren't the end all be all. Rather, it's a chance to go against different competition in a controlled setting. That said, you can learn a lot about a person when they face adversity. And for the Dolphins to respond in such a way, especially down some very key players should not be overlooked With no Hill, Dolphins wide receiver Tariq Black got more reps. And he definitely delivereed. He started his day with a touchdown catch courtesy of quarterback Zach Wilson during seven-on-seven. Black then subsequently drew back-to-back pass interference calls on the Lions cornerbacks. Once team drills began, the former Texas Longhorns standout caught a rocket screen that he took 20 yards. Black also drew a pass interference on the Dolphins' final play of the day, a crucial fourth down that saw the Lions defensive back push the wideout after the ball was thrown. Unfortunately, the refs didn't call it. Still a solid day for a receiver as he tries to make the roster. Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa connected early and often on Thursday, a good sign considering the offense appeared out of sync on Wednesday. In fact, Tagovailoa found Waddle for three touchdowns on the day, all of which came during red zone seven-on-seven. Although Waddle only caught one ball during the team drills and narrowly missed a 55-yard bomb, his performance still matters because it gave the Dolphins a necessary spark to start the day. Shoutout wide receiver Dee Eskridge for the play of the day by far. Tagovailoa found Eskridge on a 20-yard touchdown that saw the receiver jump over Lions cornerback DJ Reed to make the impressive snag. The entire Dolphins offense erupted and ran down to end zone to celebrate with Eskridge. In addition to the play of the day, he caught a post route for roughly 20 yards. Eskridge needs to keep this up as he tries to carve out a role in the Dolphins' receiving core. This one unfortunately falls on the entire cornerback room A day after Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown made the Dolphins' Jack Jones look like barbecue chicken, the rest of the cornerback room was rather lackluster. Cornell Armstrong got left in the dust on red zone touchdown to St. Brown. Storm Duck gave up an another redzone touchdown to St. Brown, only this time it happened on a jump ball. And Kendall Sheffield – with safety Ifeatu Melifonwu assisting – let Lions receiver Jameson Williams go deep for a touchdown of more than 40 yards. While Duck redeemed himself with a deflection during the final situational period of the day, the corners, overall, didn't have the best showing across the past two days. The position already had a bit of question mark considering the lack of experience and Kader Kohou's season-ending injury but with the pass rush virtually nonexistent as Sieler and Phillips sat out, the unit simply got outplayed. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill sat out as he continues to deal with an oblique rusher Jaelan Phillips remains out with an undisclosed tackle Zach Sieler sat out for an undisclosed reasonEdge rusher Mo Kamara remains in concussion tackle Austin Jackson has a lower leg injury and is expected back by the Sept. 7 opener against the Indianapolis Ashtyn Davis is out indefinitely with a leg Alec Ingold remains in concussion linemen Andrew Meyer is not close to returning from an undisclosed lineman Kion Smith returned to practice after sitting out with an undisclosed lineman Bayron Matos remains out with 'an above the shoulder type injury.' 'It was very important,' Dolphins center Aaron Brewer said Thursday of the ability to bounce back after a disastrous first joint practice. 'It's just the the name of the game. You have your good days, you have your bad days. And once you have your bad days, you flush it and come back better.' Added Brewer: 'It shows what we're made of and how we deal with adversity. That's when you see who your team is – when you have adversity and how you respond to it.'

View more Video Transcript I know you are one of the OG Tyler, uh, excuse me, Tucker Kraft bandwagon bros here. Uh, I've got him on a dynasty team. As much as I'm, I, I love, well, I don't actually always love talking about that wide receiver room, but as much as I talk about that wide receiver room, this, this guy might be the most fun to watch of the, of the group there. Oh, he, he is. I, I, he's their best pass catcher, or at least as it stands right now, most consistent at the very least. First in yards per reception talking about that. This guy is an absolute bulldozer. He's got some similarities to Kittle, but he's not as explosive as that, but like as far as play style where he's a good blocker, he wants to run over everybody, he's athletic, he catches just about everything, he's trustworthy. I, I love him as a real football player, but I think the stats are falling. They have another tight end in Luke Musgrave, different style of player. Luke Musgrave is going to be more of a like best ball type of player, um, where I think with Tucker it's just like dynasty is a great buy for him. I think this is the one where he could surpass everybody in the section above him, um, pretty easily, I think this year. The tight ends are valid with him. The design of the offense uses tight ends in the red zone. He's worthy of those catches. It's different. He's a different yards after catch guy than, uh, Trey McBride because, well, first off, you can see it in the stats, but because he's willing to get physical, red zone, everything's tight. You can't hurtle into the end zone. You've got one guy. Over, Tucker's like, yeah, sure. I'm good with that. And also he's just got good hands and trustworthy hands. Uh, Jordan Love had a throw that I think was NextGen's dad said they don't want to release this yet because it might hurt people's feelings, but, uh, hardest throwing balls, you know, MPH, how, how many, you know, how fast all these quarterbacks are throwing it. And the hardest throw ball was Jordan Love. I think on record or at least last year was Jordan Love's touchdown to Tucker Kraft in the end zone. It was over in the middle of the field where he slid in. I really want to say it was against the Texans, but I could be wrong. But he's his guy. Love, love, loves him, the coaches love him. I think he's gonna be a breakout player this year. He might not be in that top three, but he's gonna rise and rise and rise. Uh, yeah, national standing, fantasy, real life, all this good stuff.
