Kuberaa box office collection day 1: The much-anticipated pan-India release Kuberaa, starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna, has made a notable impact on its opening day, despite mixed regional occupancy and a box office performance slightly lower than expected. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Kuberaa opened with Rs 13 crore, which is slightly lesser than Dhanush's last Tamil release Raayan as that film made around Rs 16 crore on its opening day. The film was shot in both Telugu and Tamil simultaneously, and was released in both these languages along with dubbed versions in Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.
The Telugu-speaking regions led the charge, with the film recording an overall occupancy of 57.36%. Morning shows began modestly at 38.94%, but footfall increased steadily throughout the day, rising to 54.58% in the afternoon, 57.04% in the evening, and peaking impressively at 78.87% during night shows. In contrast, the film saw relatively low occupancy in other languages: 33.73% in Tamil Nadu, 6.54% in Karnataka, and just 6.73% in Hindi. Despite this, industry analysts are optimistic that Kuberaa could benefit from positive word-of-mouth and build momentum over the weekend.

This year has been a mixed bag for the Telugu and Tamil film industry so far. In Telugu, films like Game Changer, Daaku Maharaj and HIT: The Third Case released amid major hype. Shankar's Game Changer, starring Ram Charan, opened with Rs 51 crore at the box office but managed to make Rs 131 cr, which was much lesser than its humungous budget. Nandamuri Balakrishna-starrer Daaku Maharaj made Rs 90 crore in the domestic market, after making around Rs 25 crore on opening day. Even Nani's HIT: The Third Case made Rs 21 crore on the first day, but ended its run at around Rs 80 crore. In Tamil, Ajith's Good Bad Ugly made Rs 153.18 crore after opening at Rs 29 crore. Kamal Haasan's Thug Life, which was the most hyped film of the year, opened at around Rs 15 crore, and is yet to cross Rs 50 crore after two weeks in theatres.
Much of the buzz of Kuberaa surrounds Dhanush's transformative performance as a beggar, which has drawn praise across social media for its rawness and emotional depth. Fans have also lauded Rashmika Mandanna and Nagarjuna for choosing unconventional, meaningful roles. The trio's collaboration was a major factor driving pre-release hype. Adding a layer of emotional resonance to the film's debut, Dhanush was spotted watching Kuberaa on opening day with his son, Linga. The actor was visibly moved by the crowd's enthusiastic response.

Shah Rukh Khan's manager denies claims of complaints over Mannat renovation, claims they are following guidelines

Mumbai's iconic sea-facing bungalow Mannat, home to Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, came under scrutiny this week after activist Santosh Daundkar lodged a complaint alleging unauthorized construction. In response, a joint team from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the forest department visited the premises to inspect potential violations. According to a report by the Times of India, the officials were seen at Mannat, which comprises a heritage structure, Villa Vienna, and a modern multi-storey annexe currently undergoing renovation. Shah Rukh and his family have temporarily moved out during the revamp and are residing in a luxurious four-floor apartment at Puja Casa in Pali Hill, Bandra, owned by film producer Vashu Bhagnani. During the site visit, Shah Rukh Khan's staff received the inspection team and assured them that all relevant permits and documents for the ongoing renovation would be submitted in due course. The actor's long-time manager, Pooja Dadlani, dismissed any allegations of wrongdoing. 'There are no complaints. All work is going on as per guidelines,' she told TOI. A forest department official told the publication the visit saying that a team carried out inspections after they received a complaint. Singh alleged that Mannat's annexe was constructed in 2005 by circumventing the Urban Land Ceiling Act. He claimed that 12 small flats were initially approved on the property but were later combined into one luxurious residence for Shah Rukh and his wife, interior designer Gauri Khan. Singh accused municipal authorities of collusion and demanded the original layout be restored to comply with housing regulations. Mannat has been Shah Rukh Khan's residence since the early 2000s and remains a landmark in Mumbai's Bandstand area.

Prime Video pressured Kuberaa producers for film's timely release Just a few days ago, one of the producers of Kuberaa revealed the pressures faced by them from the OTT partners. He highlighted that the streaming giant had threatened to make a cut of Rs. 10 crore from the existing deal if the movie was not released as scheduled on June 20. The producer further iterated how OTT giants have now become extremely persuasive even for the theatrical release of films. Kuberaa Day 1 box office response Before its release, the trends as witnessed on the pre-booking advance sales of tickets suggested that the film would open in the range of Rs. 7.50 crore. However, the film ended up making an even better and more reasonable start at the box office by grossing Rs. 13 crore on its opening day. While it is still believed to be slightly underwhelming, the word of mouth and appreciation coming in from audiences over the characters, actors and performances hints at steering the film towards much more success.
