DURHAM, N.C., June 25 (Bernama) -- Fortrea (Nasdaq: FTRE) (the 'Company'), a leading global contract research organization (CRO), today announced a strategic collaboration with Emery Pharma, a leading analytical and bioanalytical CRO providing testing services under current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), to provide rapid lot-by-lot, 1-methyl-4-nitrosopiperazine (MNP) testing of rifampin, the preferred drug for drug-drug interaction (DDI) studies, to certify impurities are below the Acceptable Intake (AI) Limit set by U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines.
Fortrea has selected Emery Pharma due to its strong capabilities in analytical and bioanalytical testing in support of Fortrea's global clinical programs. Emery Pharma's expertise in this area supports Fortrea's ability to offer rifampin as an agent for inducing the CYP3A4 isoenzyme in DDI studies. The collaboration announced today allows sponsors to conduct DDI assessments using rifampin, which is frequently named as the preferred agent in these studies, due to its safety and tolerability profile.

UAE Sends Urgent Medical Supplies To Gaza Under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3

GAZA, June 25 (Bernama-WAM) -- The United Arab Emirates via 'Operation Chivalrous Knight 3', has delivered a new batch of emergency medical aid to health facilities in the Gaza Strip, in cooperation with the World Health Organisation (WHO). The Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported that the aid aims to alleviate the worsening health crisis in Gaza, marked by severe shortages of medicines and medical supplies. Delivered through the Emirati field hospital in southern Gaza, the support included large quantities of essential medicines, urgent medical consumables, and specialised materials for paediatric care. bootstrap slideshow The shipment also included 150 fully equipped medical beds and six field tents intended to establish temporary medical units to relieve pressure on hospitals that have sustained heavy damage or ceased operations. This humanitarian intervention comes amid the near-total collapse of Gaza's health system, caused by extensive damage to medical infrastructure and the disruption of pharmaceutical supplies. The situation has placed thousands of patients, including children, the injured, and individuals with chronic illnesses, at risk. "Operation Chivalrous Knight 3" prioritises support for Gaza's health sector as one of the key pillars of its humanitarian mission, in line with the directives of the UAE's wise leadership. These directives affirm the UAE's steadfast commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and alleviating their humanitarian suffering, particularly in one of the most affected sectors. This latest shipment is part of a sustained series of Emirati relief efforts under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, which continues to provide immediate and effective support in light of the dire challenges facing the health sector in Gaza. -- BERNAMA-WAM

UIS Empowers Students For Digital Era, Aims To Become Malaysia's First Wakaf University

KAJANG, June 25 (Bernama) -- Universiti Islam Selangor (UIS) continues to drive digital transformation and Islamic values-based education through various digitalisation initiatives, in line with the current job market requirements. Its vice-chancellor Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Farid Ravi Abdullah said among the key efforts were the implementation of online digital learning, micro-credential programmes, and the upgrading of technology-based teaching and learning systems. 'Recently, we upgraded 11 laboratories with the latest computers and software, including building a dedicated studio and recording room for communication and media students to gain hands-on training akin to real-world industry experience,' he said in a press conference here today. Mohd Farid said the university's approach, which integrates modern knowledge such as artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity with Islamic values, was aimed at producing well-rounded graduates capable of imparting knowledge, engaging in dakwah (Islamic propagation), and contributing meaningfully to society. UIS currently offers over 79 academic programmes from foundation to doctorate levels across six main faculties, including the Faculty of Islamic Civilisation Studies, the Faculty of Economics, Accounting and Management, and the Faculty of Creative Multimedia and Computing. According to Mohd Farid, UIS, formerly known as Kolej Universiti Islam Antarabangsa (KUIS), would officially be proclaimed a university by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, on July 19. Established in 1995, KUIS was upgraded to a full-fledged university in October 2022. Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, will be proclaimed as the Chancellor of the university, which is wholly owned by the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS). 'His Royal Highness' consent is a great honour and elevates the image of UIS as one of the top choices for Selangor's youth to further their studies,' Mohd Farid said.

Kota MADANI development in Precinct 19 can overcome shortage of govt quarters

PUTRAJAYA: Calls to increase the number of government quarters in Putrajaya over the past 25 years are set to be finally answered through the development of Kota MADANI in Precinct 19 here, said Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) president Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud. Speaking to Bernama and RTM here today, he said government quarters are still in high demand, particularly from support groups who have been renting houses quite far from their workplaces. 'Under the original master plan in 1998, we did plan for these residences. Based on the demand for quarters that we have received so far, we now have 17,000 applicants from various categories. 'As far as I can recall, requests to build more quarters have been made since 2000. Finally, this year, we can implement the development of these quarters,' he said. Spanning 41.28 hectares, Kota MADANI is set to feature 10,000 high-density vertical residential units capable of accommodating over 3,000 residents. Its design will integrate artificial intelligence technology, efficient digital infrastructure and a green mobility system. Commenting on the assumptions of certain parties that the project used public funds, Fadlun stressed that the project is being developed through a public-private collaboration by Putrajaya Holdings using the Build-Lease-Maintain-Transfer (BLMT) concept. '... and this can reduce the actual costs because the government does not come out with any funding, and it is all borne by the developers. The only thing is that the repayment period will be determined by the Public Private Partnership Unit (UKAS),' he said. The development of Kota MADANI in Precinct 19 will be implemented in stages, with the first phase set to commence in the third quarter of this year, and the development is estimated to cost RM4 billion. The development of Kota MADANI is a long-term strategic investment to shape Putrajaya's future as a model city that upholds MADANI values and aligns with the vision of Bandar CHASE - a clean, healthy, advanced, safe and eco-friendly city.
