British Open final round live updates, leaderboard: Scottie Scheffler, again, is way out in front at Royal Portrush
Scheffler enters Sunday's round with a massive four-shot lead at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, which has him on the cusp of claiming his fourth career major championship and his first ever Claret Jug. The top-ranked golfer in the world fired a bogey-free round on Saturday with ease, and nobody else seemed able to even make a dent in his lead.

We've been here plenty of times before. Scheffler has won all three of his other major championships after holding a 54-hole lead. He's actually won his last nine tournaments when he's held the lead at that point of an event, too.
Scheffler will go off with Haotong Li, who got to 10-under on the week. Matt Fitzpatrick and Rory McIlroy — who is starting six shots back despite his own impressive 5-under outing on Saturday — will be in the penultimate group.
Scheffler's win on Sunday isn't guaranteed by any means. There is still a lot of golf left to be played. But the way he's going, it's going to take a lot of work for someone else to overtake him.

BBC expand Premiership Women's Rugby coverage
BBC Sport will expand its women's rugby union coverage with a new deal to broadcast Premiership Women's Rugby matches for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons. A match will be streamed every week, with one semi-final and the final being shown live on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app. In May, Gloucester-Hartpury beat Saracens at StoneX Stadium to win their third PWR title in a row. Next month England host the Women's Rugby World Cup, with John Mitchell's side the favourites to win the tournament. BBC Sport have confirmed exclusive rights to broadcast every game of the tournament. Select matches will be shown on the BBC's linear channels, while every game will be available to watch live on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app. BBC Radio 5 Live and 5 Sports Extra will also broadcast radio commentary on the tournament. Sunderland's Stadium of Light will host the opening game 22 August, while Twickenham will stage the final on 27 September. "This deal is another big step in BBC Sport's commitment to women's sport," said BBC head of sport Alex Kay-Jelski. "Premiership Women's Rugby is fast, physical and full of elite talent, and we're proud to bring that to audiences across the UK on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app. "With the Women's Rugby World Cup exclusively on the BBC this summer, 2025 is a landmark year for women's sport, and we're right at the heart of it." In 2023, English rugby union's top-tier women's domestic league was rebranded as Premiership Women's Rugby and it has continued to grow. The nine-team league includes some of the sport's biggest stars, including World Rugby's women's player of the year Ellie Kildunne, who plays at full-back for Harlequins and England. The league contains all of Mitchell's Red Roses, but also includes oversea stars such as Canada and Saracens number eight Sophie de Goede, with social media sensation Ilona Maher featuring last season on a short-term deal with Bristol Bears. "Today marks another important step forward for Premiership Women's Rugby," PWR executive chair Genevieve Shore added. "In partnership with the BBC we intend to give our incredible athletes the biggest platform possible, to show off the elite rugby talent that exists in this country. "The Rugby World Cup later this year will be a breakthrough moment in our sport, but the story won't end there. "The world's best players play their rugby every week in the PWR, and I am excited to say that now they'll also be shown every week on the BBC." Team USA Ryder Cup 2025 update: Who's in the running after The Open?
The 2025 British Open is over, which means the end of the golf season is looming... but then there's the Ryder Cup in September, the event that we all look forward to as USA takes on Europe again and hopes to end its mostly losing ways. And after Scottie Scheffler dominated The Open, there's a lot to think about when it comes to the United States team. There are obviously six auto-qualifiers based on the standings, but then captain Keegan Bradley has some serious decisions to make with Captain's picks. So let's take a snapshot as the mid-August deadline approaches for putting together a team that can take down the always-formidable Europeans who will play on the road at Bethpage in Long Island. Tier 1: The current auto-qualifiers 1. Scottie Scheffler (qualified) 2. Xander Schauffele 3. J.J. Spaun 4. Russell Henley 5. Bryson DeChambeau 6. Harris English DeChambeau's unreal final three rounds at Royal Portrush basically guaranteed him a spot no matter what happens in the next month. But this group is kind of fascinating -- English was on the 2021 team that won the Ryder Cup, Henley and Spaun would be rookies. You have to like having the world's best golfer on your squad. Tier 2: Probably Captain's Picks They're just outside the top-six at the moment, but you have to figure they're going to hear their names called given experience and how they've played this year. Tier 3: Will captain Keegan Bradley pick Keegan Bradley the player? How awkward for Bradley! He's played so well that he'd be an obvious pick for any other captain! I think he does it and becomes the first player-captain since Arnold Palmer in 1963. Tier 4: In the running for Captain's Picks An interesting mix here. You've got names with experience and some possible rookies playing in good form. If it's me, I go experience over form, with apologies to McNealy and Gotterup. There's still a lot of golf to play, though! Current Ryder Cup standings (top-six qualify)
