RCB defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 6 runs in the IPL 2025 final to end their 18-year-long drought. Immediately after this, news started doing the rounds of a possible sale of the franchise.

However, the current owner of RCB, Diageo India, has denied all rumours. The company has clearly said that it is not looking to sell the RCB franchise. According to Cricbuzz, Diageo made this statement in a letter to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Tuesday, 10 June. This clarification came after the BSE reached out to Diageo regarding the rumours.
'The company would like to clarify that the aforesaid media reports are speculative in nature and it is not pursuing any such discussion. This is for your information and records,' Mital Sanghvi, the company secretary, was quoted as saying to BSE.

Tragic incident in Bengaluru adds to the speculation
The speculation started when Bloomberg published a report earlier this morning suggesting that Diageo was looking for options to sell the RCB team. The report came just days after RCB's IPL 2025 victory on 3 June and a tragic stampede incident in Bengaluru on 4 June, where 11 people lost their lives during the celebrations.
There were reports that since the news of the potential sale emerged, Diageo's stocks have risen in value. Meanwhile, there are speculations that RCB's owner is exploring options to sell the franchise because of the recent incident that may have caused some reputational damage to the company. Some reports also claimed that Diageo was looking at a valuation of $2 billion for the IPL team.
'I will not be surprised if it is sold for a higher price,' IPL founder Lalit Modi was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. As per Modi, the valuation being quoted in the media is not far off. RCB's IPL victory may have increased the brand value of the franchise. The Gujarat Titans team was recently sold for nearly $1 billion to Torrent Group.

The Karnataka Police have also filed an FIR against the Karnataka Cricket Board Administrative Committee, RCB, among others, in connection with the stampede incident. CM Siddaramaiah also expressed his deep sorrow over the incident. 'A major tragedy occurred during the victory celebrations. It happened near the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the deceased. The government will provide free treatment to the injured. Eleven people died and 33 were injured in the stampede. This tragedy should not have happened. The government expresses deep sorrow over this incident.' tilaknagar industries: Allied Blenders buys rights to Mansion House and Savoy Club Brands
Mumbai: Allied Blenders and Distillers Ltd (ABD) said it has acquired global rights for Mansion House and Savoy Club brands from UTO Asia for $1.2 deal excludes territories such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, China, and Myanmar."The acquisition of UTO Asia and the associated ownership of worldwide right, title interest in the Mansion House and Savoy Club brands aligns with ABD's strategic expansion objectives, allowing it to gain full control over the Mansion House and Savoy Club brands on a global scale, while specifically addressing regional interests in key markets," it said in a BSE filing. In India, Tilaknagar Industries Ltd and ABD are involved in a trademark dispute over these brands. While Tilaknagar holds exclusive rights to sell these brands in India, ABD has been granted permission by the Bombay High Court to launch products under the same brand names, particularly in West Industries entered a pact with Herman Jensen (formerly UTO) nearly four decades ago and had claimed the latter ceded the rights of Mansion House brandy to rescue itself from a court action in Rotterdam in 1987. Under this arrangement, Jensen would retain Mansion House brand in whisky, which was a bigger business then. The Dutch side, however, argued that the arrangement was never legally solemnised and moved courts in 2008, when Mansion House brandy had emerged as a formidable brand in the Indian December 2011, a one-member bench of the Bombay HC held that Tilaknagar had the rights to Mansion House in India, but Herman Jensen went on to appeal before a division bench. In 2014, ABD bought a 50% stake in the two brands from Herman Jansen, giving ABD rights to produce and sell them in the country. In February this year, the Bombay HC dismissed Tilaknagar's plea and granted Allied Blenders permission to use the Mansion House brand name for some of its products in West Bengal.
