New evidence expected in Senzo Meyiwa murder trial
JOHANNESBURG - The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial resumes today at the High court in Pretoria, after a tense week.
Judge Mokgoatlheng drew criticism last Thursday, for comparing black and white lawyers, after Advocate Charles Mnisi requested leave to run the Comrades Marathon.
This Monday, the State is expected to introduce new evidence.
It relates to photos allegedly retrieved from the phones of accused number 2, Bongani Ntanzi, and accused number 3 Mthobisi Mncube, during the re-examination of lead investigator Brigadier Gininda.

Missing Comrades runner found in Durban
Race director Alain Dalais said Moira Harding had walked eight kilometres from the finish. The finish line of the Comrades Marathon in Durban. Picture: Darren Stewart/Gallo Images A missing woman has been found after seemingly vanishing on Sunday, following the Comrades Marathon ultra-distance race. Moira Harding, a runner from Cape Town, completed the 90km race in 10:52:03 on Sunday afternoon. After reaching the finish in a delirious state, however, Harding had started walking through the streets of Durban and became lost. Comrades Marathon race director Alain Dalais said a search party had looked for her into the early hours of the morning, and she was eventually found more than 12 hours after she had finished the race. Wondered for eight kilometres 'A search party was formed and we looked everywhere we could, but she had walked eight kilometres from the finish venue, which is why it took so long to find her,' Dalais said. 'She was in a delirious state, but she is safe and we are relieved she is ok.' Meanwhile, Dalais confirmed no runners had died during the 98th running of the annual race. 'One runner suffered cardiac arrest and was airlifted to hospital, but we have received confirmation that they are stable, which is another great relief for us as the organisers of the race.'

Missing Comrades Marathon runner found near port
MOIRA Harding, the missing Comrades Marathon runner, has been found in a critical condition on Mahatma Gandhi Road in Durban. On Sunday, appeals for help were shared widely on social media after she went missing at the Comrades finish. Harding, representing the Fish Hoek Athletic Club, was recorded as finishing in under 11 hours on the Comrades live tracker app. According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, a wide-scale search was launched for the missing runner. 'She was found in a critical state and was transported to hospital by helicopter. Advanced life support paramedics, SAPS, Metro Police Search and Rescue were all on scene near the NSRI base at the end of Mahatma Gandhi Road (Point Road),' Jamieson said. Her brother-in-law, Sean Baldwin, said they were relieved that she has been found safe and is being transported to a hospital in Durban. 'She was found near the port and we are waiting at the hospital,' he said. Harding, who is originally from Durban and now lives in Cape Town, ran the Comrades Marathon with her sister Fiona. 'They ran together for most of the route and around the 70km or 80km mark they split. Fiona finished 20 minutes ahead of her. There were reports of her last seen in the runners' pen but nothing since then,' Baldwin said. A mission person's case had been opened at the Durban Central police station. Modack to be sentenced next month
UNDER FIRE: Alleged kingpin Nafiz Modack Image: File Alleged underworld crime boss Nafiz Modack was found guilty of corruption charges at the Cape Town Regional court on Friday. The case was postponed to July 8 for Modack to be sentenced. The conviction comes in the wake of a sentence that was handed down to former top cop Brigadier Kolindren Govender after he entered into a plea agreement with the State after he admitted that he had a corrupt relationship with Modack. Hawks spokesperson Warrant Officer Zinzi Hani said: 'It was reported that during November 2011, Modack acted with a common purpose by paying gratification in a total amount of R146 000 to Govender in return for special treatment. 'He was also convicted of defeating the ends of justice by preventing his colleagues from performing their duties' Subsequently, Govender also admitted that during December 2012 he intervened and stopped the recovery by police of a Mercedes Benz. In doing so he prevented cooperation between an officer from the SAPS Paarl Vehicle Identification Section and the investigating officer in the matter based at the Cape Town Central police station. 'The former top cop Kolindren Govender pleaded guilty to 51 charges of corruption that relate to a corrupt relationship he had with alleged underworld figure Nafiz Modack. "Govender was handed five-years imprisonment of which four and a half years were suspended, on condition that he was not convicted of corruption.' The court ordered that the sentence would run concurrently with the six-year sentence that was handed down on a different matter. Meanwhile, the alleged underworld figure faces over 100 charges alongside fourteen other accused in the Charl Kinnear murder trial which has been placed on hold until October. Former Anti-Gang Unit detective top cop Kinnear was gunned down outside of his house in Bishop Lavis in September 2020. Modack has two other pending matters including the 'Tax Matter' where he was arrested by the Hawks in 2020 accused of defrauding SARS out of R46 million. His other matter at a High Court in Gauteng sees Modack facing firearm-related charges. Cape Times
