‘I've actually cut up the covers and made a wall out of them': Inside Parineeti Chopra's sea-facing Mumbai home, where she lived before getting married
'I think the definition of home only really started for me after I bought my first one,' Parineeti shared with Architectural Digest. 'It's about making it your own—having your favourite spots, feeling calm, and just being yourself.'
And calm is exactly what this home breathes. With an open balcony that gazes to the Arabian Sea, it's no surprise that Parineeti would often begin her days groggy-eyed, wandering from her bedroom straight into the sunlight and salty breeze.
Designed in collaboration with celebrated interior designer and architect Shabnam Gupta, the house blends understated elegance with pops of quirk. 'We went for a simple house,' Parineeti says, 'but added bursts of colour here and there—bursts of me, actually.'
From the start, Parineeti wanted the space to reflect her identity. Childhood memories, her love for books, and small, joyful details were all translated into the corners of her home. 'I told Shabnam a lot about myself—my childhood, my habits, and she really brought all of that into the space.'
One wall in particular holds a special place in her heart: her storybook wall. 'My earliest memory is of my mum giving me an Enid Blyton book,' she recalls. 'I've actually cut up the covers and made a wall out of them. It's like a tribute to all the stories that shaped me.'
The most relaxing space in her home is her den—a spot where she reads, watches movies, and switches off. At the centre of it is a hand-painted Monopoly board on her coffee table. It's playful, bold, and unexpected—just like her.
'This table, it's not for anyone else. It's for me,' she says with a smile. 'Don't please people. Please yourself. Nothing else matters.'
Beyond its design, Parineeti's home represents something deeper—a pause from the chaotic energy of work and travel. It's a place that holds her stillness, her books, her quirks, and her story. In many ways, it's a snapshot of who she was just before she stepped into the next chapter of her life.
