Is Fortnite down? When are servers back up for the new Fortnite season? Game updates to Lawless
Fortnite's new season will be Lawless.
The online game will be going dark tonight as the servers go down to update for the new season.
Here's what you need to know about the downtime and Season 6 Chapter 2: Lawless.
The current season of Fortnite will end at 2 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, NorthJersey.com, part of the USA TODAY network, reports. After that, Epic Games' servers will go offline as Fortnite updates for Lawless.
The new season should be available on Friday morning.
Past updates have typically lasted about four hours, so the game should be ready by 6 a.m. Friday. However, there have been delays before, like in March 2024 when Epic Games needed an additional eight hours to complete the job.
You can check the server status for Fortnite and other Epic Games products at status.epicgames.com. Fortnite also has a status account on X, @FortniteStatus, where you can get the latest on issues with the game.
Fortnite dropped its trailer for the new season on Wednesday, which features a pickle character rapping alongside a hot dog, a visit from Mortal Kombat's Sub-Zero, and lots of characters battling over the spoils from a bank heist.
See for yourself.
According to TechRadar, the pickle is a playable character named Big Dill, who initially robs the bank before being robbed himself. After the loot is passed among several other characters, it ends up before a wolfman mob boss, possibly the game's antagonist.
And that was indeed Sub-Zero. Epic Games has confirmed that the character will be featured in the new Battle Pass, TechRadar reports, making him the first Mortal Kombat character to be added to the game.

Homer Simpson, Bob Belcher and More Dads May Join Fortnite for Father's Day
D'oh! The popular game Fortnite may be gearing up for its most dad-centric, delightfully weird crossover yet. According to trusted Fortnite leaker @ShiinaBR, four iconic animated TV fathers -- Bob Belcher of Bob's Burgers, Hank Hill of King of the Hill, Cleveland Brown of The Cleveland Show and Homer Simpson of The Simpsons -- are coming to the third season of the popular game as playable skins in honor of Father's Day this weekend. A representative for Epic Games, the company that owns Fortnite, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. While Epic Games hasn't officially confirmed the lineup, evidence is piling up. Three of the four skins have already been spotted in the game files and a connection with The Simpsons has been teased through official channels, adding more fuel to the hype. Fans first speculated about a King of the Hill collaboration in May after "Propane Specialist" assets referencing Arlen, Texas, were found in-game. It was audacious, shocking, and unflinching. Apple unveils a dedicated Games app at WWDC 2025
Apple is rolling out a new, dedicated gaming app, called Games, that will come pre-installed on Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple TV devices. It's basically a spit-shined, updated version of Game Center, a service that Apple has let languish since its rollout roughly 15 years ago. The new app will behave more like a modern gaming hub, a la Xbox or GOG Galaxy. It'll include a space for leaderboards, matchmaking, recommendations and launching games — plus a direct pipeline to Apple Arcade, of course. You can see what your friends are playing and challenge them to specific feats in certain games. The library tab will include every game you've ever downloaded from the App Store, allowing you to booth them up right there. Apple's gaming push in recent years includes mobile and Mac support for AAA experiences like Resident Evil Village , the Resident Evil 2 and 4 remakes, Death Stranding and Assassin's Creed Mirage . At Summer Game Fest 2025 over the weekend, IO Interactive announced that its Hitman trilogy, Hitman World of Assassination , is heading to iPhone, iPad and Mac this summer. Also on the video game front, Apple is still battling Epic Games in court over claims of anti-competitive behavior, but they're mainly just closing out appeals now that Fortnite is live on the App Store and third-party payments are enabled on Apple's storefront. Xbox recently threw its support behind Epic Games, filing an amicus brief accusing Apple of unfairly blocking the Xbox mobile store in late May. Also also in game land, last month Apple acquired its first video game studio, the two-person team RAC7, which makes Sneaky Sasquatch .
