Leona Maguire peaking in Scottish Open as Dylan Keating leads South of Ireland qualifiers
'Couldn't really ask for a better start,' Maguire said of her link-up with Morbey, who caddied for Ian Woosnam when he won the Masters in 1991 and is set to continue on the bag at Royal Porthcawl.
'Holed out with a nine-iron on 10 [for eagle], on our first hole today in pretty much perfect conditions for most of the front nine,' she added.
Maguire lies a shot behind England's Charlotte Lafar, tied for second with Japan's Rio Takeda, Spain's Nuria Iturrioz, Thailand's Arpichaya Yubol and new star Lottie Woad of England, who is making her professional debut.
The wind did not get up until late in her round, but she hopes Dundonald will be good preparation for next week.
'I think bit by bit, you hope for good prep ahead of Porthcawl next week,' said Maguire, who practised at Portmarnock last week. 'So the linksier the conditions, the better.'
Castlewarden's Lauren Walsh dropped five shots in her last six holes en route to a five-over 77.
But it was a better day for Séamus Power in the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota, where a four-under 67 left him seven shots behind Canada's Adam Svensson, whose sensational 60 gave him a two-shot lead over Sam Stevens.
In the ISPS HANDA Senior Open at Sunningdale, Pádraig Harrington made seven birdies in a three-under 67 to lie just four shots behind New Zealand's Steven Alker.
The Dubliner was tied for fifth as Alker shot 63 to lead by a shot from Australia's Mark Hensby.
'I played lovely at the start and struggled to score well,' said Harrington after following four birdies in five holes from the 13th with a three-putt bogey at the 18th. 'Then on the back nine, I didn't play so well and scored great.'
Darren Clarke was 42nd after a 70, as Paul McGinley's 72 left him joint 82nd.
In the Pierse Motor Group South of Ireland Amateur Open Championship, Seapoint's Dylan Keating (23) added a four-under 68 to his opening 69 to lead the qualifiers for the matchplay stages at sunny Lahinch.
He topped the qualifiers by a shot on seven under from Dooks' Conor Hickey (65), Tralee's Mark Gazi (67), Ballybofey's Ryan Griffin (68) and Royal Dublin's Sean Downes (72) as just seven of the players on two-over made the cut.

Padraig Harrington prize money after winning second Major in a month
Padraig Harrington was cool as ice, holding his rivals at bay to win the Senior Open at Sunningdale today. It was the Dubliner's second major success on the senior's tour this year, following his victory in the US Senior Open last month. Harrington took a two-stroke lead into the final round and kept Thomas Bjorn and Justin Leanard at arm's length, winning by three shots from the pair. Victory was worth €381,200 to the 53-year-old who shot a final round 67 to finish on 16 under par, three shots clear of great Dane Bjorn and American rival Leonard. Harrington's solid round included a superb eagle three at the first hole and three more birdies - the last of which left him three shots ahead with four to play. Harrington bogeyed the 17th, but so too did Leonard while Bjorn couldn't make inroads either having dropped a shot at the 16th. More to follow ….. Pádraig Harrington shines bright at Sunningdale to win ISPA Handa Senior Open, his third senior major title
Pádraig Harrington secured senior major number three and a first Senior Open title after a strong final round of 67 helped him to a three-shot win at Sunningdale in Berkshire. Harrington finished with an impressive final score of 16 under, three shots clear of playing partner Justin Leonard, and fellow European Thomas Bjørn at 13 under. The 53-year-old also reigned victorious at the US Senior Open back in June and brings his winning tally on the Champions Tour to 11. With the win, Pádraig Harrington becomes the fifth player to add the Senior Open to an Open Championship, after Darren Clarke, Tom Watson, Gary Player and Bob Charles. He's also the third Irish winner of the event, following on from Clarke and Christy O'Connor Jnr. Harrington entered Sunday's action with a two-shot advantage at the top and extended it quickly. A birdie on six was shortly followed with a frustrating bogey at the par three 8th, but this was somewhat alleviated by playing partner Justin Leonard also dropping a shot. The two-time senior's major winner responded with a routine two-putt birdie on the drivable par four ninth, matched again by Leonard. The American, who impressively made the cut at Royal Portrush last week, would reduce the deficit to three with a birdie on 11, later joined by former Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjørn; but Harrington remained the man to catch. Bjørn briefly cut the gap to two with his fourth birdie of the round on the par five 14th, which Harrington responded to in style with a tap-in birdie of his own, after an exquisite chip set up a tap-in for four. Errant approach shots into the penultimate seventeenth lead to bogeys for both Harrington and Leonard, maintaining the Dubliner's three-shot cushion with one hole to play. There was to be no stress up the last as Harrington followed a booming drive with a pin high approach shot, setting up a closing par to secure the win, void of any late dramatics. Scott Hend, Ernie Els and Cameron Percy all made impressive final day charges to finish inside the top five while Darren Clarke, who won this event back in 2022, finished on two-over-par and in a tie for 52nd place.

Padraig Harrington makes history with Senior Open win at Sunningdale
Just a month after capturing his second US Senior Open in four years in Colorado Springs and a cheque for $800,000, the Dubliner (53) claimed the winner's cheque for $447,800 by capturing the Senior Open by three strokes at Sunningdale's Old Course to join Gary Player, Bob Charles, Tom Watson and Darren Clarke in an exclusive club. Winner of The Open in 2007 and 2008, when he also captured the US PGA Championship, Harrington started the final day with a two-stroke lead over Justin Leonard on 13-under-par. He got off to the perfect start with an eagle at the first and made a birdie at the sixth before following a bogey at the seventh with another birdie at the ninth to turn for home four shots clear of the field. He went on to birdie the 14th to get to 17-under and while he bogeyed the 17th, he took a three shot lead over Leonard and clubhouse leader Thomas Bjorn to the 72nd hole. He went on to two putt from long range for a par four to win by three strokes and capture his third senior major from Leonard and Bjorn on 16-under par. Clarke finished tied for 51st on two-over after a closing 72.
