Chelsea is considering a move for the Olympique Lyon's 20-year-old winger named Malick Fofana. The winger was impressive last season and Chelsea see a great potential in the player. There is a strong possibility that Chelsea move ahead of their interest, but no contacts has been made as of now.
Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Olympique Lyon's highly-rated winger Malick Fofana. The 20-year-old Belgian talent caught the eye with a string of impressive performances last season, showcasing pace, flair, and creativity down the flanks.
Sources close to the club suggest that Chelsea see great potential in Fofana and are closely monitoring his development. The winger, who joined Lyon from Belgian side Gent, quickly adapted to Ligue 1 and became one of the standout young players in France.
While Chelsea are seriously interested in the youngster, no official contact has been made with Lyon as of now. However, there is a strong possibility that the Blues could step up their pursuit in the coming weeks as they continue to rebuild under Enzo Maresca.

MORE — Club World Cup schedule & results Delap, who signed from Ipswich Town for $40 million this summer, came off the bench in the 64th minute and had his first goal involvement 15 minutes into his first game. The 22-year-old striker got on the end of Cole Palmer's through ball on the right flank, and lifted and curled a perfect cross into the path of Enzo Fernandez at the top of the six. The pass looked easy — it wasn't — but the finish certainly was, as Fernandez received the ball and poked it past Hugo Lloris without any defensive pressure. That goal only made it 2-0 in the 79th minute, but Chelsea had been ahead since the 34th. Pedro Neto timed his run in behind LAFC's defense to perfection and Nicolas Jackson got the ball away just in time. Neto raced into the penalty area, cut inside and beat Lloris at his near post. OUT: Wesley Fofana (hamstring), Mykhailo Mudryk (suspended) LAFC team news, focus Speaking ahead of the match, LAFC's general manager John Thorrington was excited about the challenge but realistic about the chances of the MLS side causing a huge upset: 'I think it is right to view us as underdogs... What I hope that Chelsea and Flamengo and Tunis and all these teams – I hope they walk off the field with a great level of respect as to the quality of our players and the intensity and the commitment of our players. And if we walk off the pitch every game with that, we will be proud and I trust that the results will fall our way.' Olivier Giroud will feature up top LAFC against his former club, while goalkeeper Hugo Lloris knows Chelsea extremely well from his decade at their rivals Spurs. Watch out for Denis Bouanga, Yaw Yeboah and Timothy Tillman. Chelsea vs LAFC prediction This feels like it's going to be a lot closer than most people think but Chelsea's quality, probably off the bench, will make the difference in the end. Chelsea 2-1 LAFC.

Canada's Promise David extends contract with Belgian champion Union Saint-Gilloise
BRUSSELS - Canadian international forward Promise David has extended his stay with Belgium champion Union Saint-Gilloise. The 23-year-old David, whose existing contract ran until 2027 with an option, is now signed with the Belgian club until June 2029. David scored 24 goals and added five assists in 41 matches last season, helping Union Saint-Gilloise to its first league title in 90 years. David is currently in Vancouver with Canada, which was scheduled to open Gold Cup play against Honduras later Tuesday at B.C. Place Stadium before heading to Houston to face Curaçao and El Salvador. David scored in his senior debut for Canada in a 4-2 win over Ukraine earlier this month at the Canadian Shield Tournament in Toronto. Born in Brampton to Nigerian parents, David made his debut for the Nigerian under-23 side in October 2022. But in February, after talks with Canada coach Jesse Marsch, his request to switch allegiance was approved by FIFA. David started at the Toronto FC pre-academy, spending two or three years there before he was let go at 14. He found a new home with Vaughan SC. After high school, David elected to go pro rather than the U.S. college route — he only got one partial scholarship offer, from Appalachian State. After attending a tryout camp held by a Croatian second-division team in suburban Oakville in 2019, he found himself in Croatia two weeks later. That led to a move to third-division NK Trnje Zagreb where he played in the under-19 league against youth sides from top teams. In 2021, he returned to North America to join FC Tulsa of the USL Championship. The next year he went to Malta where he was initially assigned to the under-19 team at Valetta FC but was quickly promoted to the senior side. After the team survived relegation, he switched clubs and hit a roadblock at Sirens FC, where he didn't play. The six-foot-four 209-pounder joined Estonia's Kalju FC in In early 2023 before moving to Belgium last July. —- This report by The Canadian Press was first published June 18, 2025.

Lauren James ‘never doubted' she would make England's Euro 2025 squad despite hamstring injury
Lauren James says she never doubted that she would make England's 2025 European Championship squad despite being sidelined since April with a hamstring injury. James, 23, was pictured back in full training on Monday after missing Chelsea's final seven matches of the campaign and England's Nations League fixtures in May and June due to the injury sustained during the Lionesses' win over Belgium in April. Advertisement She was included in Sarina Wiegman's 23-player squad for Euro 2025 and the England head coach insisted her selection was 'not a risk'. 'I feel good,' James told reporters on Tuesday. 'I must be myself if I'm back here.' Asked if her place at the Euros was ever in doubt, she replied: 'I never really doubted myself, because I think as soon as you have a doubt in your head, then it's always negative thoughts. I always had in my head that I was going to make it. Obviously I didn't tell people that. 'I took it day by day. Lucy (Bronze) and I always kept in touch. She always would say, 'You'll be there.' Then obviously having that support, it always makes you kind of think, 'Oh, yeah, I'll be there as well'.' Advertisement James was restricted to nine Women's Super League appearances during the 2024-25 campaign, after also being sidelined with a calf injury between October and January. She admitted a frustration at having her season disrupted but said she benefitted from taking herself out of the public eye as she recovered. 'Obviously, it's frustrating having injuries,' James added. 'I've had two not-so-short, but not long-term injuries this year. It was a bit of a stop-start, but I just stay around my circle, stay around good people and positivity, and take myself out of the spotlight.' 'Yeah, for sure (I benefitted from stepping out of the spotlight),' she continued. 'I think not having the world talk about you allows you to focus and you're not seeing the news all the time.'
