Amaal Mallik said that his relationship with his brother Armaan Malik is precious to him. He shared that his parents were a little hurt by his post, but they understood it.
In March, singer Amaal Mallik hit the headlines after he revealed his struggle with clinical depression, and growing estrangement from his family. He blamed his parents Daboo and Jyoti Malik for the distance with his brother Armaan Malik. Now, in a recent interview, Amaal Mallik addressed his post about cutting ties with his family, and shared that it has actually brought his family closer! He explained that while his parents were initially hurt by the post, they also understood that he is going through so much. Amaal also said that the post was not impulsive, but was a collection of emotions over the years.
In an interview with The Times of India, Amaal reacted to the post and said that it had been something he had been keeping inside him for a long time, and that it was important to let it out. He further added that it helped him feel a little light, talking about it. 'My parents also understood it. It actually brought us closer as a family. They were obviously a little hurt, but they understood that our son is going through so much and we don't get time to understand that sentiment. But it's been much more precious and beautiful after that. I know there have been critics, saying that I have thrown your family under a bus and all, but I think my family got closer after that. We're stronger and happier about these discussions," he said.
When asked whether the post was impulsive, he replied, 'It was not impulsive. It may have happened on an impulse, but it's a collection of emotions over the years. Not everyone wants to be in the limelight. There are things which we feel. The kind of love and support that I got from within my family, from my fans, and from people around me, made me feel that at least I am important enough to not give up on myself. That is what that post did for me. I was somewhere beginning to give up on myself. I don't want to do that."
Amaal also shared that nothing can change his relationship with his brother Armaan Malik. 'My relationship with my brother is precious to the world and to us. Nothing can change that."
What Amaal Mallik Said In His Post About Cutting Ties With His Family
In March, Amaal shared a post on Instagram in which he revealed that he and his brother Armaan 'have gone too far from one another" due to the actions of his parents. The composer further spoke about how he faced constant belittlement and emotional distress at the hands of his own family. 'Through the last many years, they have left no opportunity to disturb my well-being & belittle all my friendships, my relationships, my mindset, my self-confidence. But I just kept marching on because I know I can, and I believe I'm unshakable," he stated.
In the final part of his long note, Amaal, with a heavy heart, announced that he was stepping away from all the personal ties. He expressed, 'From now on, my interactions with my family will be strictly professional. This isn't a decision made in anger, but one born from the necessity to heal and reclaim my life." The post was later deleted.
