'Adults' star Jack Innanen breaks down the Charlie Cox moment that made him gag on set
While Adults (on Disney+ in Canada, Hulu in the U.S.) has already been making us laugh every week, Episode 6 of the show is absolutely outrageous, in the best way. Speaking to Yahoo Canada in Toronto, one of the show's stars, Canadian Jack Innanen, talked about all the entertaining chaos in that episode, featuring Charlie Cox and Julia Fox.
The core story for Episode 6 is that Billie (Lucy Freyer) wants to host a dinner party, with the hopes of showing a mature side of herself and her friends to her boyfriend, her former high school teacher, played by Cox. As Billie says, it's their "roast chicken" era.
While everyone seems to at least be trying their best to be mature, things take a turn when Billie's boyfriend shows up and tells Samir (Malik Elassal) that he's high on a "pony dose" of ketamin, stressing that Samir can't tell anyone. But Samir can't help but tell his friends, but not Billie, as her boyfriend starts acting more and more bizarre.
To add to the chaos, Paul Baker (Innanen) invites a friend to dinner, and it happens to be Julia Fox (playing herself), who makes his girlfriend Issa (Amita Rao) jealous.
"I think the episode pretty much captured what it was like in real life," Innanen said. "I had a couple moments where I was just looking around like, 'What are we doing? This is awesome.'"
"It was chaotic. Charlie, [he does this] dance and that was all him. And I remember he was just really into it and killing it. And I was standing off to the side just to watch. ... And then Julia, ... I'm pretty sure she just improvised every one of her lines, and it's so perfect. And it's so her that it was just like a master class. ... A bunch of takes my mouth is just open because I'm just like, 'Wow.!"
It all leads to Billie serving a raw chicken, not knowing that it needed to be thawed before going in the oven. But in Mr. Teacher's high, he just keeps cutting this raw meat, with blood splattering, and it looks absolutely revolting. And then Cox's character starts eating the raw meat. For Innanen, that made him feel queasy on set.
"I gagged. For real," Innanen said. "I don't do well with raw meat."
"Someone else gagged too, which made me gag. ... What he ate, obviously, was like a gelatin thing. ... But it was real raw chicken on my plate. ... The best part was that we went to lunch right after that, and they were serving chicken, and it stayed absolutely untouched. Not a single person, like all 100 of the cast and crew, no one touched the chicken."
And after that, Cox's character has a completely breakdown, with his ex-wife having to come get him out of Samir's parents home.
With Episode 6 already being a highlight, looking ahead in the season, Innanen teased that Episode 8 includes a particularly shocking moment.
"The last like 20 seconds of Episode 8, I've heard ... a lot of people go, 'Whoa. I wasn't expecting that,'" Innanen teased. "And so there's a little bit of a bomb drop, mic drop, at the end of eight that I think throws a little bit of a wrench in the group."
We can't wait to watch more Adults for the rest of the season, but maybe with less raw chicken.

So without further ado, let's dive into all the best new movies on streaming to watch this weekend. Love 'em or hate 'em, Disney shows no signs of slowing down with cranking out live-action remakes. Its latest, "Snow White," has been mired in controversy since its announcement, and unfortunately, the film doesn't offer much to overshadow that noise. To its credit, it's more watchable than some of the other Disney remakes, and there are a few new songs added into the mix for fans of the original. Those curious about all the chatter can now check out "Snow White" on Disney Plus from the comfort of their own couch. Rachel Zegler takes on the role of the titular princess, who is banished from her kingdom by her ruthless stepmother, played by Gal Gadot. To reclaim her rightful place on the throne, she teams up with a group of magical beings and a bandit leader (Andrew Burnap) to challenge the evil Queen and restore peace to the realm. "Echo Valley" is part slow-burn thriller, part tightly coiled mother-daughter drama grounded by masterclass performances from its two leads, Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney. It follows grieving horse trainer Kate Garrett (Moore), whose peaceful life on a secluded Pennsylvania farm is shattered when her estranged daughter Claire (Sweeney) arrives late one night covered in blood that is not her own. Claire claims she got in a fight with her boyfriend, but as details emerge, Kate is forced into a devastating moral crossroads. Written by "Mare of Easttown's" Brad Ingelsby, "Echo Valley" treads similarly gritty ground, offering a tense, emotionally charged descent into moral ambiguity. Watch it now on Apple TV Plus In the mood for something lighter? Prime Video just got a hilarious new action comedy that puts three improv performers — Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom, and Nick Mohammed — in a precarious predicament. An undercover cop (Sean Bean) recruits the trio to infiltrate London's criminal underworld by pretending to be the very criminals they've only ever played on stage. Their new gig spirals out of control faster than you can say "zip, zap, zop!" While its action sequences aren't all that exciting, the sharp writing and hilarious performances in "Deep Cover" offer plenty of laughs. Orlando Bloom, in particular, is a hoot as a "serious" actor overly committed to the role of playing the group's muscle, come hell or high water. Watch it now on Prime Video Legendary James Bond director Martin Campbell returns with a "Die Hard"-style action thriller led by "Star Wars" actress Daisy Ridley. Though it wears its inspiration on its sleeve, "Cleaner" still delivers a fast-paced and entertaining ride with plenty of nerve-jangling aerial stunts to keep you on the edge of your seat. "Cleaner" kicks off when a group of radical activists storm an energy company's annual gala, taking 300 hostages in a bold attempt to expose corporate corruption. Fortunately for the guests trapped inside, an ex-soldier turned window cleaner (Ridley) just happens to be on the scene, albeit suspended 50 floors up, when the chaos erupts. Channeling her inner Bruce Willis, she springs into action in a desperate fight to save the day. Watch it now on Max One of my favorite Gerard Butler movies, "Plane," just arrived on Netflix, and it's already crash-landed in the streamer's top 10 list. In this high-octane action thriller, Butler stars as commercial airline pilot Brodie Torrance, who's hoping to wrap up one last flight before reuniting with his daughter. But when a violent storm strikes mid-flight and a lightning bolt knocks out the plane's avionics, Torrance is forced to make an emergency landing. Though he gets the plane down safely, he realizes too late that it's on the remote, pirate-controlled Jolo Islands. Stranded and surrounded by danger, he has to team up with a fugitive passenger (Mike Colter) to outwit local warlords and keep the survivors alive long enough for help to arrive. If You Have to Watch 1 Comedy Show in June 2025, Stream This 1 Now
Sometimes, picking the one comedy show to watch in a month is an easy choice. In April, it was Hacks, and in May, it was Poker Face. For June, our pick is The Bear, the FX original series that's returning for its fourth season on Hulu later this month. It's simply head and shoulders above everything else this month. This isn't just one of the best shows on Hulu, it's one of the streamer's signature hits. The Bear has struck a chord with audiences, and it's already won 21 Emmy Awards, including one for Outstanding Comedy Series. Ahead of season 4's premiere, we're sharing the reasons why you should watch The Bear this month. Some of The Bear's naysayers claim that it's not actually a comedy at all. Instead, they contend that it's more of a half-hour drama. There is some merit to that, because the stories on The Bear can be very intense and emotionally charged. But it is a comedy as well, it's just not a typical sitcom that settles in for broad humor or easy laughs. The Bear leans into its TV-MA rating with a lot of rough language. Yet in the context of the show, it makes the scenes feel alive and less scripted. The Bear looks and feels like no other comedy/drama hybrid on television, and that may be why it stands out from the crowd. If you're looking for a show that's solely reliant on jokes, this isn't it. But there are some great laughs on this series; they're just sandwiched between the drama and tension. You may have noticed that the cast of The Bear is increasingly becoming in-demand for movie roles, particularly Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. That's always a good sign for a TV series, because it means the right ensemble of performers is in place. White — who first made his name as an actor on Showtime's Shameless — plays Carmen 'Carmy' Berzatto, a man who takes over his late brother's restaurant. Carmy can be abrasive, especially when butting heads with Richard Jerimovich (Moss-Bachrach). But he has a dream to turn The Bear into a world-class restaurant, and he slowly gets the other employees to buy into his vision. Edebiri is completely charming as Sydney Adamu, one of Carmy's first hires at the restaurant. The other members of the supporting cast are also extremely talented, including Lionel Boyce as Marcus Brooks, Liza Colón-Zayas as Tina Marrero, Abby Elliott as Natalia Berzatto and Matty Matheson as Neil Fak. There isn't a weak link in this cast, and the audience ultimately cares about them as people rather than just caricatures who exist only to do anything for a laugh. As revealed in the trailer for The Bear season 4, the restaurant is on the verge of failing despite the best efforts of Carmy and his staff. Presumably, the struggle to save The Bear from closing will be the primary story for season 4. More importantly, it looks like the characters are embracing each other as a found family and standing together when things get tough. This is the kind of show where tempers are always going to run hot, and it just wouldn't be the same series if everyone were always on the same page. But because the audience cares about these characters and what happens with them, The Bear has some leeway to take greater dramatic swings. If this were just an ordinary sitcom, it could have lost all of the nuance and character development that make The Bear so compelling. This show may not be for everyone, but it could very well be for you. The Bear season 4 will stream on Hulu on June 25.
