Millions Evacuated in Japan Amid Floods

Israa Farhan
Millions of residents in southwestern Japan have been ordered to evacuate as torrential rains triggered severe flooding and landslides, while thousands in Spain have been forced from their homes due to rapidly spreading wildfires.
In Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture, television footage showed entire districts submerged under nearly one meter of water, leaving homes, businesses, and vehicles damaged.
Tamana City, the hardest-hit area, recorded over 37 centimetres of rainfall in just six hours on Monday morning, a local record. Authorities have warned that the situation poses a serious threat to life, urging maximum vigilance.
Japan's Fire and Disaster Management Agency
reported
that evacuation orders have been issued to more than three million people in the region, with the highest-level warnings applying to around 384,000 residents, most in Kumamoto.
Landslides have left at least one person missing in the town of Kosa, while another elderly man was trapped in his home in Misato. Two people from greater Fukuoka remain missing after being swept away by river currents. Meteorologists cautioned that unstable soil and swollen rivers mean disaster risks remain high even as rainfall begins to ease.
Meanwhile, in northwestern Spain, authorities have evacuated thousands from towns including Carucedo and surrounding areas near Las Médulas, a UNESCO World Heritage site famed for its dramatic landscapes and Roman-era gold mines.
Officials suspect several fires were deliberately set. Blistering heat and strong, shifting winds have fuelled the blazes, creating dangerous fire whirls that forced firefighters to retreat. Some homes have already been destroyed.

Egypt's Weather Witnesses Further Improvement on Sunday

Rana Atef The Egyptian Meteorological Authority expects temperatures to continue their decline across most parts of the country today, Sunday. The weather will be hot and humid during the day over most areas, extremely hot in South Sinai and Upper Egypt, while the night and early morning hours will be relatively warm and humid. Light, sometimes thundery, showers are also expected on a scattered basis in Abu Simbel, Halayeb, Shalateen, and Saint Catherine. A-20% chance of very light rain is expected in Salloum, Marsa Matrouh, El Alamein, and Alexandria. Winds will be active across much of the country, helping improve nighttime conditions, though they may stir up sand and dust in parts of Upper Egypt, South Sinai, and the New Valley governorate. Maritime navigation is also set to be disrupted in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Suez, with wind speeds ranging between 40–60 km/h and wave heights between 2–3.5 meters. The predicted temperatures for the following cities are 35°C in Cairo, 31°C in Alexandria, 30°C in Marsa Matruh, 40°C in Sohag, 44°C in Qena, and 44°C in Aswan. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated

Egypt's Heatwave Eases as Temperatures Drop on Saturday

Rana Atef The Egyptian Meteorological Authority expects a break in the intense heatwave on Saturday, with hot weather prevailing during the day across most regions, extremely hot and humid over South Sinai and Upper Egypt, and warm, humid conditions at night and early morning. Dr. Mahmoud Shaheen, Director of Forecasting and Early Warning at the Authority, said that morning mist is likely today from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. over areas from northern Egypt to Greater Cairo, which may be dense at times on highways leading to and from the northern coasts, the Delta, and the Canal cities. Maritime navigation is expected to be disrupted in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Suez, with wind speeds ranging between 40–60 km/h and wave heights reaching 2–3.5 meters. Meanwhile, wind activity will be felt across much of the country, helping to moderate conditions at night in intervals. The predicted temperatures for the following cities are 36°C in Cairo, 31°C in Alexandria, 30°C in Marsa Matruh, 43°C in Sohag, 45°C in Qena, and 47°C in Aswan. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated

Over 50 Dead in Heavy Rains in Pakistan

Israa Farhan More than 50 people have been killed in northern Pakistan following flash floods and landslides caused by heavy monsoon rains, according to the country's disaster management authorities on Friday. The majority of fatalities occurred in the mountainous province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 43 people lost their lives, provincial disaster management officials confirmed. In the Pakistan-administered region of Kashmir, seven deaths were reported. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a fresh warning of further heavy rainfall in the northwestern regions, urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel in high-risk areas. Monsoon rains account for roughly 70 to 80 percent of South Asia's annual precipitation, providing vital water for agriculture and food security. However, they also bring destruction and loss of life. In 2022, catastrophic flooding during the monsoon season inundated one-third of Pakistan's territory, killing around 1,700 people. Authorities have deployed emergency teams to the affected regions, where many remain trapped under debris from collapsed homes. Rescue operations are ongoing as forecasters predict more rain in the coming days. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated
