Occupation prevents hundreds of worshipers from performing Friday prayers at Ibrahimi Mosque
Occupied Quds - Saba:
The Zionist occupation authorities prevented hundreds of worshipers from reaching the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron to perform Friday prayers, as part of the restrictions imposed on the checkpoints leading to the mosque.
The director of the Ibrahimi Mosque, Moataz Abu Sneineh, told the Palestinian Safa Agency that the occupation forces prevented more than 500 worshipers from reaching the mosque, while only 200 worshipers were able to perform the prayer. He added that the strict security measures at the checkpoints led to checking the identities of citizens and abusing them.
Abu Sneineh stressed the need to preserve the Islamic identity of the mosque, despite the restrictions, to confront attempts to Judaize it. He pointed out that the occupation has continued to impose closures since October 7, 2023, including the closure of the Abu al-Rish checkpoint through which most worshipers passed.
He added that the security tensions created by the occupation aim to displace Palestinians from the area in order to strengthen Israeli control over the mosque and its surroundings.
