DOHA: Qatar Airways has announced a new global partnership with Art Basel, the world's leading contemporary art fair. This long-term alliance reinforces Qatar Airway's role as a global connector of people, places, and culture.
As Art Basel's Premium Partner, Qatar Airways will support all of the fair's prestigious annual exhibitions – in Basel, Paris, Hong Kong, Miami, as well as its newly launched edition in Qatar. This partnership goes beyond sponsorship and aims to deepen the airline's connection with a culture- and art-forward global demographic through the one of the world's most respected names in the art world.
The collaboration also marks the exciting introduction of Art Basel into the Middle East, with a new edition launching February 2026 in Doha. This will be the fair's first presence in the region and highlights Qatar's growing stature as a regional arts and cultural hub as the nation continues to evolve as a destination that inspires and connects the world through its National Vision 2030 roadmap.

Art Basel Qatar will be held in collaboration with Qatar Creates and Qatar Sports Investments, reflecting the country's broader cultural vision and its ambition to host a thriving creative ecosystem. The inaugural edition of Art Basel Qatar will be held in M7 creative hub and the Doha Design District in downtown Msheireb.

The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has announced the nine works competing in all categories of the 11th Katara Prize for the Arabic Novel, totaling 44 novels and nine critical studies. Nine works each fall in the categories of published novels, unpublished novels, unpublished young adult novels, unpublished historical novels, published Qatari novel, and unpublished critical studies. The nine published novels represent seven Arab countries. Egypt and Palestine take the lead with two novels each, while the other works are from Kuwait, Oman, Syria, Yemen, and Tunisia, with one novel each. The unpublished novels category includes nine works by novelists from six Arab countries. Egypt took the lead with three, followed by Morocco with two, and one novel from Sudan, Tunisia, Iraq and Palestine. The unpublished young adult novels include works of novelists from five Arab countries, two each from Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, and Algeria, and one from Syria. The unpublished critical studies featured nine works from three Arab countries, with Morocco taking the lead with five critical studies, followed by Egypt with three and one from Jordan. Nine works of novelists from six Arab countries are included in the historical novels category, three from Egypt, two from Jordan, and one novel each from Tunisia, Morocco, Iraq and Yemen. When it comes to the Qatari novel, eight works in total are qualified to win the category in the 11th Katara Prize for the Arabic Novel. Katara has announced the names of the novelists, novel titles, and critical studies on the Prize's official website. The total number of works submitted in the 11th Katara Prize for the Arabic Novel reached 1908. The unpublished novels reached 923, while the published novels reached 548, which were published in 2024. The unpublished young adult novels reached 238, critical studies reached 97, as well as nine published Qatari novels and 93 unpublished historical novels. (QNA)
