The OnePlus Pad 2 Pro is an elite Android tablet with a stunningly low price... in China

Phone Arena13-05-2025

Have you noticed that many of the world's best Android phones and tablets are often sold exclusively in the world's most populous country at virtually unbeatable prices? That's obviously especially true for China-based tech outfits like OnePlus, which still hasn't released the remarkably affordable Ace 5 Pro handset outside of its domestic market. Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor;
256 and 512GB storage variants;
8, 12, and 16GB RAM options;
13.2-inch LCD screen with 3392 x 2400 pixel resolution and 144Hz refresh rate technology;
Android 15 -based ColorOS 15.0 software;
-based ColorOS 15.0 software; 13MP rear-facing camera;
8MP front-facing camera;
12,140mAh battery;
67W charging capabilities;
289.61 x 209.66 x 5.97mm dimensions;
675 grams weight;
USB Type-C 3.2 port;
Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. If any of the above specifications sound familiar or if you feel like you've seen the below design before, then congratulations, you're one of the most ardent followers of the mobile industry I know. That's because the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro is not only predictably similar to the smaller and slightly lower-end OnePlus Pad 2, but pretty much a carbon copy of the Oppo Pad 4 Pro as well.
That hefty battery is clearly a key selling point here. | Image Credit -- OnePlus
I'm not just speaking from a cosmetic perspective either, as the two brothers from different mother... brands come with the exact same screen... and processor, and storage and memory configurations, and cameras, and battery capacity, and everything. Unfortunately, while its label might make you hopeful of eventual US or Europe availability, there's clearly a good chance the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro will take a page out of the original Pad Pro's limited release playbook rather than following in the footsteps of the non-Pro OnePlus Pad and OnePlus Pad 2. That's especially sad when you consider how few Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered tablets can be purchased stateside right now. The likes of the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra, which come packing a weaker MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ SoC, are also equipped with lower-than-67W charging technology, not to mention the rather disappointing (compared to the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro) 11,200mAh battery size of the larger of those two super-premium Samsung slates. Probably not. In fact, I'm willing to bet you exactly $444 that you're never going to guess the starting price of this impressively thin, powerful, fast, and stylish Android tablet without peeking on social media or the official Chinese online Oppo shop.

Yes, boys and girls, the cheapest OnePlus Pad 2 Pro model costs only 3,199 yuan (or 444 US dollars) with a perfectly respectable combination of 256 gigs of internal storage space and 8GB RAM. Even the top-of-the-line configuration is on pre-order in China at the rough equivalent of $555 (3,999 yuan) with a whopping 16GB memory count and 512GB local digital hoarding room. It's obviously not fair to compare those price tags with how much the aforementioned Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and Tab S10 Ultra (not to mention Apple's latest and greatest iPad Pros) typically set you back in the US, but at the same time, some of you fine bargain-hunting folks based in the Western Hemisphere might want to reevaluate your life choices right about now.

Honor Magic V5 battery capacity could increase 20%

Honor is expected to launch Magic V5 soon, and the device was already certified at CMIIT. The phone with model number MHB-AN10 has a minimal 5,950 mAh battery capacity, which, according to tipsters, translates to a typical 6,100 mAh battery capacity. If this is really the case, the Magic V5 will get an almost 20% bigger battery than its predecessor, which was already extremely thin and powerful. The rumor comes from a post about the vivo X Fold5, which is rumored to sport a 6,000 mAh dual-cell. The leakster, who is usually on point with such rumors, replied in comments that the Magic V5 will have a 100 mAh bigger battery than the vivo's. The increased battery is not a surprise, as many smartphone companies in China follow the trend of Si/Ca cells, which provide more power in less volume. We also heard that the device will be under 9 mm thin, when folded; another improvement over the Magic V3, which was 9.2 mm. Honor Magic V3 We are still waiting for anything official from Honor, so for now, anything on the Magic V5 is treated as a wishful rumor. Source (in Chinese) | Via

Check out how Google plans on improving the native Google Phone app for Android

The first thing you might notice is that the name of the person who is calling you or you're calling appears larger on the top of the display (that person and his/her phone number need to be in your Contacts app) and the caller photos will also be larger. The keypad, mute, speaker, and more buttons are no longer round but are oval. When tapped, these buttons change shapes. The answer call button remains a circle. The new look for the Phone by Google Android app. | Image credit-Android Authority Google has removed the "Call from" text that appears on the top of the screen when there is an incoming phone call. After you answer a call, the phone number of the other party will remain on the display, unlike the current design that shows the number replaced by the length of the call. With the redesign, the time of the call is moved to the top of the screen. Also added is a new animation showing the profile picture for the incoming caller. The current look for the Phone by Google Android app. | Image credit-Android Authority This new look shouldn't be surprising since Google loves making changes to its native Android apps every now and then. The changes made aren't earth-shattering but users might find it easier to read the name of the person calling them with the larger-sized text being used. The larger pill-shaped end button should be easier to press when your fingers are fumbling for the red end button and you're having trouble tapping it cleanly. This is what Google is all about. Redesigns to apps that seem minor might actually improve an Android user's experience with the platform.

Realme GT 7 and 7T go global, first Nothing Phone (3) teaser, Week 22 in review

The Galaxy A57, which is expected in Q1 of 2026, will likely use a new Exynos 1680 chipset. The Exynos 1680 allegedly has the model designation S5E8865 and the codename Terra. No other details are known about it yet, but it is probably safe to assume that it will use an Xclipse GPU just like its predecessor. We saw the first glimpse of the Nothing Phone (3). More specifically, a macro shot of a part of the phone. Not much we can get from it, but perfectly in line with Nothing's style. Motorola's Moto G family is soon going to get another member, the Moto G96. It will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC and we saw images of it. The phone will boast 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. It will have a 6.67-inch pOLED curved screen with a 144 Hz refresh rate, and a 5,500 mAh battery. On the rear, there's a 50 MP main camera using Sony's Lytia LYT-700C sensor, and an 8 MP macro camera. For selfies, you'll get a 32 MP snapper on the front. The device will be offered in Cattleya Orchid, Dresden Blue, Greener Pastures, and Ashleigh Blue colorways. It's expected to cost around INR 22,990 when it lands in India, which right now translates into approximately $270. It's unclear what other markets it might launch in. It hasn't yet been seen on the market. The new premium model will be unveiled in July. It will expand the G family even further. The vanilla costs INR 8,999, which is about $105/€90. The Realme GT 7 and GT 7T made their global debut. The GT 7 uses the Dimensity 9400e chipset and features a 6.8-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, 50 MP main and 2x telephoto cameras and an 8 MP ultrawide shooter. It's powered by a 7,000mAh battery with 120W charging. The GT 7T uses the Dimensity 8400-Max, and lacks a zoom camera, but has the same 7,000mAh battery. The Pixel 10 Pro (or Pixel 10 Pro XL) was spotted on a public beach in Vancouver, Canada, where it was filmed for a TV ad. The video crew wasn't working hard on keeping the phone a mystery, and the person who stumbled upon the set even got a glance at the storyboard (a visual script of all scenes that make up the video clip). Google will launch the Pixel 10 with a new camera feature that will allow users to add multiple people to the same shot. The Pixel 10 series could come in August. The latest flagship killers bring Dimensity chipsets and massive 7,000mAh batteries with 120W charging. It could be the Pixel 10 Pro or Pixel 10 Pro XL. Comes in four different variants. OnePlus announced a slew of AI features, which will debut alongside the OnePlus 13s. The phone has a dedicated Plus Key on the side, replacing the iconic Alert slider. The new key will summon the AI Mind Space, a place that collects and catalogs information that it can recall later for you. The RedMagic 10S Pro launched in China with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Edition SoC and up to 24GB of RAM. Keeping the temperatures in check is what is known as the ICE-X Cooling System, which uses liquid metal and active air cooling. The company claims it has 250% enhanced thermal conductivity and a 30% larger heat dissipation area that lowers CPU temperatures by an additional 5°C. The Red Magic 10S Pro has a massive 7,500mAh battery with 120W charging, a 6.85-inch 144Hz OLED, and is now on sale. The new customizable Plus Key on the OnePlus 13s to play a major role in accessing these features. Global launch to follow on June 5. The premium model among the trio of new earbuds from Nothing.
