Police raids take place across Glasgow - Here's why

His comments came after a police operation got underway today which led to the discovery of suspected cannabis farms located within properties across the city.
Detective Inspector Chris Hughes said: 'This is a multi-division crime group who are using victims of human trafficking to grow their organisation and we are seeing cultivations throughout the divisions. They vary in size and are very professional in there set up. The biggest thing we are seeing is people being exploited within those cultivations.
'We want to make sure that serious organised crime isn't allowed to flourish in Scotland."

The arrests were made as part of Police Scotland's Operation Kendrew, which is a multi-division effort in collaboration with the G, D, and J Divisions as well as the National Human Trafficking Unit (NHTU).
The Glasgow Times accompanied cops to one of the properties in the East End where officers broke down the door with a baton ram before entering the property.
As soon as the door was opened, a strong smell of cannabis filled the air.
One man was arrested at the address, and a large number of cannabis plants were found.
More arrests were made across the other two properties where cannabis cultivations were also found.
The values of the discoveries are unknown at this stage.

He added: 'Today was a concerted effort to tackle human trafficking in Scotland.
'This is a long-running investigation and we're ultimately looking to target the upper echelon of that group and dismantle their operations in Scotland.'
He continued: 'The NHTU are heavily involved in targeting the groups that work in Scotland.
'We are completely reliant on support from our partners, the public and divisional resources to do that. Today is an example of how all those partners and divisions work together.'
The victims within the operation will be assisted by victim navigators, who work with the charity Justice and Care.
(Image: Images taken by Robert Perry, Newsquest) A victim navigator who was on hand today said: 'Today has been a police-led operation following intelligence. It has gone very smoothly.
'I believe we have potentially identified two individuals who we will speak to later on and see if we can support them.'
Detailing their role further, they added: 'Our role is to support identified victims of modern slavery and human trafficking throughout their journey from the initial stages right through.
'We help them both emotionally and practically through the judicial process, meeting their basic need for food or clothes, we can arrange counselling for them or simply take them for a coffee and build up their confidence after such a traumatic incident.'

Donald Trump on course to open golf resort named after his mother

Donald Trump is set to make a private visit to his golf resort in Aberdeenshire within weeks where he is expected to open a second course named after his mother. There has been speculation for months that the US president will visit the country this year to coincide with the opening of the new club. Police Scotland confirmed on Wednesday that preparations were under way for a visit by Trump this month, in what will be a 'significant policing operation'. The Scottish government said it was involved in preparations, along with the UK government. But it is understood there are no plans for the president to meet any representatives of the Scottish government. The new MacLeod course at the Aberdeenshire resort A source in the northeast said: 'It has been rumoured for months that he would be here to strike the first ball at Trump International's new course. Where Donald Trump is involved, golf will always play a major part of the equation.'

Premier League Darts spectator kicked off in Hydro toilet

David Nelson was at the stadium on February 13 this year, watching night two of the event, which Luke Littler went on to win. Around 9.35pm, he was discovered visibly drunk in the toilets by two security guards conducting checks. Following a short conversation, they decided to eject him due to his state of intoxication. Nelson became aggressive and hostile and said: "I can do whatever I want." The security guards took his arms to escort him out but Nelson threw the contents of his drink in the face of Lucas McCallum, one of the staff members. The two stewards continued to escort him out to the street. He spat in Mr McCallum's face, then turned to the other worker, Ben McCallum and spat in his face too. As the security guards tried to take him to the ground, he punched Lucas McCallum in the face. The two men managed to get him to the floor as more colleagues came to help. Nelson was shouting: 'I will f*****g get you'. Police were called and they took control of him as the 26-year-old said: 'If they punch me, I am going to punch them back, it's f*****g self-defence.' He was arrested and taken to a police van, where he shouted at officers: 'You are mad paedos the f*****g lot of youse. Open the door. "Just because you are in uniform… Take these cuffs off me, you d**k.' On the way to Helen Street police station, he slid himself down the seat, causing his trousers to fall off. He shouted: 'Film this, you are a dirty paedo. Look at my c**k", while he was making a thrusting motion with his hips. Nelson continued: 'Look at my b**s, you paedo. You love seeing my penis, don't you, you f*****g paedo.' The court also heard that Nelson had previously breached several court orders. His lawyer told Sheriff Patricia Pryce: "There are certain background elements which he has been struggling with. Not completing his orders is nonsensical, especially ones that are as important as this. "I know a custodial sentence is at the forefront of your mind. "He says he does not remember what happened. There is a concern that he must be minimising the matter. He needs to address his underlying alcohol problem and needs to get counselling." Sheriff Pryce said: "The court gave him an opportunity with the community payback order and he breached it." She told Nelson: "This was a horrendous course of conduct. "You spat in both of them, which is disgusting and you punched one of them. You have 11 breaches on your record. "Given your record and the fact that you are remanded [there is no alternative to custody]." He was sentenced to six months in jail.

Three people arrested at Kneecap O2 Academy Glasgow gig

Police Scotland confirmed that a man and a woman were arrested for breach of the peace, while a second woman was arrested for allegedly refusing to leave the licensed premises during the Irish rap trio's performance on Tuesday night. The band took to the stage at the O2 Academy after being removed from the TRNSMT festival line-up in May. (Image: Andrew Milligan/PA Wire) READ MORE: Manhunt launched after 'violent attack' left teen in hospital Promoters dropped Kneecap from the July 11 event following safety concerns raised by Police Scotland. At the time, a spokesperson for the force said: 'Any decision on the line-up at TRNSMT is for the organisers, and there was no prior consultation with Police Scotland before acts were booked. "Officers highlighted that the potential reaction of such a large audience to this band would require a significant policing operation in order to support the delivery of a safe event.' The group's removal from TRNSMT came amid controversy surrounding an ongoing investigation by counter-terrorism police into band member Mo Chara, who is facing charges in connection with allegedly displaying a Hezbollah flag during a previous performance. In response to their removal from the festival, Kneecap apologised to fans and organised a replacement show at the O2 Academy, which sold out in just 80 seconds. (Image: Andrew Milligan/PA Wire) READ MORE: Moment sniffer dog scoured Kneecap's dressing room ahead of sold-out Glasgow gig The Glasgow Times reported earlier that a sniffer dog searched the rap trios dressing room ahead of their show. Before the gig, a video posted to the band's Instagram page showed a dog being led around their dressing room. A photo shared on their Facebook page also showed a van marked with a 'search dogs' sticker. It is understood that the dog was not a police sniffer dog and that no Police Scotland officers were involved in searching the venue.
